Seven thousand years was a long time. Far longer than most would see —  or even comprehend. The average human would never learn how centuries had a habit of blending together after a certain point. The Eternals were not normal humans. They had been created with a glorious purpose they now had to reckon with. After being the Celestial's instruments of death for many millennium, each had their own path to take if they were to come to turns with the truth.

Makkari, thankfully, moved fast. She always had. She had been born with the itch that couldn't be scratched, the drive to constantly be in motion. If she were to slow, it was deliberate. For Druig, she tried. He had never asked her to, but she still translated the blur of her thoughts into concise gestures for his sake. The centuries she had spent alone on the domo had defamiliarized her from socialization. With him, however, it remained easy.

I was looking for you, she signed. This reality? It's so close to ours. But the food? It's better, I think.

It's so crowded, Makkari was quick to sign. She was experienced at dodging obstacles, but it was getting old. I feel caged. Her fingers were spread on both hands before she tapped the fingers together with a right angle to sign "caged." I can only run so many laps.

"Always wanted to visit New York, just thought when I did I'd be able to leave. Expectations were too high I guess?"

Do you think they're faster than me? It was a comment signed out of the blue, Makkari only half paying attention to a news clip that showed a speedster running across the city. I'm fast, she added as an afterthought.

If they were, she didn't care. She was just bored out of her mind and sick of sitting around.
