A smile on her face, her index finger points at her cheek before it spirals upwards. Makkari is, perhaps, the wrong Eternal to send to talk to the X-Men during this tender time, but they’re low on people. Scott Summers?

He’s an Asgardian. That’s what they told Makkari when she first noticed him. It’s certainly made him of more interest to her. Earth is a mess. The last word is signed with both hands. But I’ve never heard it called that before.

They haven’t met yet. Makkari’s aware of his presence but not focused on him, instead skimming through book after book before tossing them to the side. She senses the vibrations when he tasks and turns to him, book dangling from her hands. It has to be set down so she can sign. What?

Makkari frowns, one foot tapping a quick rhythm.  Her head shakes no. I’ve seen many people.

I am ancient. Millenia, technically. Makkari doesn’t feel it, though. She still fees young and fast. The name Ant-Man rings a bell, though. He’s an Avenger?

Makkari’s head tilts to the side. What is that? Whatever it is, she wants one.

Pausing for a moment, Stephen mumbled a soft spell under his breath and let his fingers work at his side, and as Makkari signed the words practically appeared in the air in front of him, translating effortlessly as he nodded at her. There, that was better. Any in particular?

The magic is a relief. It’s frustrating to be unable to communicate so often. The oldest that you have.

Cassie put the letters together fairly quickly and repeated the name out loud, nodding softly at the woman’s next response. I’m eighteen. Technically an adult. She liked to use that excuse a lot on her father. My dad is here speaking with Captain Marvel. I tagged along.

Such a baby. She’s teasing with no intent to be mean. Makkari doesn’t think she’s ever been that young. The Eternals were created to appear the same age that they always present as. Who is your father?

Makkari was all but vibrating with pent up energy. The two women were on the Domo while Makkari flipped through a book rapidly in hopes to learn more about the Celestials than they already knew. Deciding it was futile, she tossed it to the side and watched the pages flutter downwards. Yes, yes, she nodded a fist up and down. You are a great warrior and always have been. Have you found anything yet?

Makkari. She signed out each letter in an attempt to be helpful. You look young. It was blunt but true. Makkari was old, sure, but the girl looked like she could have been a teenager still. What are you doing here?

The mischievous smile never left her mouth. Your artifacts, Makkari waved a hand around the space. I want to look at them.

Max paused. I will take that as a compliment. Even if it was not intended as one. He signed in response, lips pursed into a slight smile. I have lived quite the life, but nothing compared to seven thousand years. You must have some interesting stories to tell.

It wasn’t not a compliment, she shrugged. The mutants just tended to be confusing if nothing else. More than I could ever recount. Some are more entertaining than us, but that’s how it goes.

Makkari hadn’t made hers. They had been the Celestial’s work, but she didn’t want to talk about them. She was spending enough of her life looking into them as it was. Very nice. ‘Nice’ was conveyed by putting one hand flat and brushing it off with the other. You seem fun. I like you.
