My Problem With The Cutie Remark
So I’m back and haven’t made a post on this blog in a minute but I ended up thinking about episodes of FIM, specifically The Cutie Remark. Now The Cutie Remark is my second least favorite finale in the series (the honor goes to To Where and Back Again) and I had a few generic reasons why with Starlight’s backstory and reformations being one of them. The thing is I couldn’t pinpoint where the last 10 minutes were bad because the alternate timelines were great to see. Today I finally realized what it was and when it got me mad and still gets me mad today (yeah I shouldn’t be mad over a show for little girls but I’ve been with this show since it first aired but I can’t let this one go…mild rant incoming.

“ I don't know what happened that led you to make your village without cutie marks, and I'm sorry my friends and I had to take it away”- Twilight to Starlight
EXCUSE ME! HELL NO! I DONT FUCKING THINK SO! This is where the episode dropped for me, once Twilight said this line. You mean to tell me that Twilight’s apologizing to Starlight for taking away her village…she means the same village that Starlight…

FUCKING RIPPED HER AND HER FRIENDS CUTIE MARKS OFF (WHICH CAUSED THEM PHYSICAL PAIN) AND HELD THEM HOSTAGE UNTIL THEY CONFORMED TO HER EQUAL SOCIETY! I DON’T THINK SO!
Twilight and the Mane 5 were victims during that and Starlight physically abused them by taking their cutie marks and holding them hostage but Twilight has the gall to apologize to Starlight for that! That her and her friends were at fault! NO! This was why Starlight’s BS reformation didn’t sit with me, and something else that I noticed. The episode doesn’t call Starlight out on this AT ALL! The only reference to The Cutie Map is that Starlight whining about how her village was taken away and how it’s the Mane 6’s fault. That on top of her time travel stunt, she SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN THAT EASILY LIKE SHE WAS, ESPECIALLY NOT BY THE MANE 6.

Concerning 'Boast Busters', for me, there, is, absolutely, no, way, to get around the Cardinal Sin that was committed. Namely how they managed to make the 'Antagonist' FAR more likeable than the 'Protagonists' - well, three of them.
The show was in its early days and despite it being Trixie’s job to be a stage performer and being dramatic I could understand why Applejack, Rainbow and Rarity would see her as the boastful type but that gave Trixie no reason to bully/embarrass them. Heck, Rarity was even against the unicorn vs. unicorn stand off until Trixie called her mane a “rats nest”. But she was boastful or the title wouldn’t be called Boast Busters.

Cozy Glow’s Goals...Makes No Sense
Twilight’s face sums up my reaction to Cozy Glow’s goals in School Raze. Basically it makes no sense. I’ll give her credit, how she executed her plan was great...but she also fell short and she falls into the same category that the majority of MLP villians do. THEY DON’T THINK AHEAD or THEY GET TOO OVERCONFIDENT or underestimate the magic of friendship as usual and that leads to their downfall. But I want to talk about Cozy’s goal and how it doesn’t work at all.
Cozy Glow: You see, if there's one thing I've learned here, it's that friendship is the most powerful thing there is. And as headmare of the School of Friendship, nopony will have more friends than me! Making me the most powerful pony in Equestria!
1. It’s the true magic of friendship that gives the Mane 6 power. What she’s doing is bribery and deceit for power and it doesn’t work. If she’s talking in a literal sense but if not...there’s only a few students at that school as opposed to all of Equestria. She’s aiming way too high and can’t back it up.
2. She nearly drained the magic of Equestria and sent it to another realm just so she could rule the school...but Equestria thrives on magic. If magic is gone, Equestria slowly dies...with the ponies in it. Congratulations, kid.
Cozy Glow: *to Twilight* Why?! Because friendship is power! You might be the Princess of Friendship, but as headmare of this school, I can collect even more friends than you!
3. But...Twilight’s older than her. And she has more friends beyond the school. She’s even on good terms with the Student 5’s kingdoms.
So in short, Cozy’s goals fall flat but her execution was good.

The “Problem” With A Royal Problem
No pun intended.
Ok so for me A Royal Problem is easily the worst episode in Season 7. This was supposed to be the “Princess development episode” we’ve waited for...and it didn’t deliver. Luna Eclipsed and Horse Play showcase the princesses better in those episodes than A Royal Problem...but let’s get in why this episode was so bad for me.
1. Starlight (Not surprised in the least)
The mare that “graduated” everybody. When I first saw the synopsis for A Royal Problem and it said that the princesses were arguing and Starlight had to help them...I instantly knew that this episode was going to end in disaster. Typical Starlight behavior:
Uses magic impulsively which causes more issues than solves them
Uses magic so that she thinks it benefits her with consulting anyone else
Just rolls with her mistakes and let’s it play out
When the problem worsens she has no idea what to do and just breaks down crying
Everything gets resolved and instead of punishing her she gets praised
You know what I wanna see. I wanna see a Starlight episode where she messes up big time and SOMEONE punishes her for it. No good job Starlight! No “You almost destroyed Equestria but it’s ok because you’re our friend! Have Tempest put her in check! Discord even had a shot to remove her horn in “A Matter Of Principals” but didn’t. (But he gave her a long overdue insult) Just something! It’s kinda sad that I was relieved that Starlight got trapped in that bubble of magic by Cozy Glow but let’s be honest...SHE HAD IT COMING FOR A LONG TIME!
2. How They Portrayed Twilight
Get it...cause the sun...and the moon...and twilight is the middle of the day and night...nevermind.
But seriously though, Twilight is my favorite character in the entire series...but I hated how she was portrayed as a worrywart the entire time...WHEN SHE DIDN’T HAVE TO BE! So instead of calling the one other pony that:
Can easily be a third party to solve the argument based on experiences with both Celestia and Luna
Saw with her eyes the battle between both sisters
Brought the two princesses back together in the first place
Helped Luna with internal struggles on multiple occasions
Has. A. Close. Relationship. With. Celestia. And. Luna.
Has known Celestia and Luna longer
We go with a psychopathic impulsive magic using unicorn that brainwashed a town and messed up multiple timelines just for the sake of being bitter about losing her friend over a cutie mark...BECAUSE LOGIC!
Here’s how Twilight could’ve easily solved the problem if she was chosen: Simply with take with both princesses or talk with them separately about their issues and her experiences with the other sister. This would’ve made the episode ten times better for me. Twilight can stop being nervous around the princesses because she can see first hand that they aren’t perfect. They executed that in the comics and did it better.
3. Celestia and Luna Arguing
I’m going to be honest...when I wanted the princesses to get character development...turning them into whiny teenagers who fight and have a competition to prove something over who has the hardest job isn’t what I had in mind. And Luna won by the way, she has to protect the dream realm and save ponies from their nightmares, Celestia couldn’t even handle Starlight’s without Luna’s help and she straight up admitted to that. Honestly Twilight’s fears of having Nightmare Moon return would scare me too considering all it takes is the princesses arguing to the point where they turn evil AND SPEAKING OF WHICH...
4. Solar Flare. Wait no Nightmare Star. No Rapidash Twilight. Wait, I got it! Fiery Nightmare Moon...I mean Daybreaker.
As far as designs go...she’s literally the inverted colors of Nightmare Moon. Those are my jokes for Daybreaker’s design and name. As far as personality...she’s malicious and power hungry and wants to destroy Nightmare. Speaking of which despite Nightmare making an AMAZING return...these two are no better than Celestia and Luna arguing. Their fight serves nothing to the story and everyone kept on forgetting that it was just a dream and the only one who would be harmed would be Starlight...internally. But Daybreaker wasn’t interesting. Call me when Midnight shows up as Princess Twilight’s evil side since apparently these two have them and Cadence could possibly have one. Oh and it does confirm that Celestia and Daybreaker are the same pony. Nicole is credited as Celestia/Daybreaker as Tabitha is credited as Luna/Nightmare.
But that’s it...call me when we get a good “Princess” episode. Luna Eclipsed still reigns as best stand alone princess episode.

I'll admit, I like Starlight, but I really understand a lot of the hate she gets and even I have issues with her (I plan on making a video about the problems with Starlight Glimmer). Like, I enjoy her friendship with Maud and Trixie, but she was forgiven way to easily and didn't have to work for forgiveness like Discord, Sunset, and Luna. She's also much better as a villain in my opinion and I wish she would have stayed a villain since she is what makes the season5 premiere my favorite premiere.
To each their own. I thought the Season 5 Premire was boring.

Yeah, I honestly like the idea of the cutie map much more than the school of friendship since it could allow to some interesting team-ups. Its kind of like the show's version the Friends Forever comic series more or less.
Yup.

What do you think of the School of Friendship concept in season 8? Honestly, while I don't hate it, I feel like its really unnecessary and forced (which makes sense since Hasbro were the ones who came up with the idea). I mean even for a show like MLP, a school of friendship is pretty cheesy. Plus, we already had the school setting with Equestria Girls, so what's the point of incorporating it in the show?
Honestly, the only good parts about the School of Friendship were the introduction of the Young Six and the sentience of the Tree Of Harmony. The School concept itself just practically destroys the map idea. Why bother going on adventures to new places to spread friendship when you have a school. Also the Mane 6 aren’t qualified to run a school...like at all. Season 8 clearly proved that. Twilight is a friendship teacher but she’s not like Cheerille or Celestia who actually have teaching degrees and skills with teaching other students in an actual classroom setting. That’s something that Twilight or the Mane 5 don’t have experience in. So the Young Six were good but the whole School of Friendship idea was bad.

Starlight Glimmer AKA Selfishness At It’s Core
Ok, out of the FIM and EG villians we know they do stuff for reasons like try to take over Equestria or wanting to be adored and noticed or for revenge or just because they want power. But out of all the villains Starlight managed to take the cake for being the most selfish villain in the series which is one reason why I can’t move past her actions and actually like her as a character...that and the constant reminder that she brainwashed ponies and messed with time over and over again.
So the reason why Starlight became bitter towards cutie marks is because she didn’t get hers at the same time as Sunburst did and he moved on, somehow kept that resentment with her and creating a town where she steals cutie marks so that her villagers would follow her philosophy and never leave her.
So basically whether villagers willing chose to give up their cutie marks or forcefully removed them (the Mane 6′s case) she ultimately made the village because she was bitter about something when she was a filly. She lied to those villagers and was hypocritical about it so that everypony is inferior except for her and all because she lost one friend over a cutie mark. And she knew what she was doing and why she was doing it. She’s talking about the Mane 6 ruining her perfect lifestyle, if it was so perfect the Mane 6 wouldn’t have gotten the summons from the map or Sugar Belle tipping them off that she, Party Favor, and Nightglider wanted their cutie marks back. And it continues in The Cutie Remark...
Starlight: I was perfectly happy before you and your friends ruined what I built!
Not “we” were perfectly happy, not “my villagers and I” but “I”. Starlight didn’t really care about her villagers except their names and professions and that’s it. She didn’t get to know her villagers she just found a way to make sure that they wouldn’t leave her, but she never expected to be found out and exposed by the Mane 6. And of course selfishness comes into play with the whole petty revenge with the time travel stuff. She’s putting other presents/future’s at risk with these “better” villains taking over that Twilight and Spike see all for the sake of something she messed up on but blames Twilight for. Her town was a dysfunctional functioning town where some of her residents felt miserable. Is it the Mane 6′s fault? No. It’s the founder’s fault but she’s too selfish and bitter to care about what others think.
Sadly when I look at Starlight and she constantly reminds the audience of how she did bad in the past, it reminds me of how selfish she was and how bitter she was and it still goes on with her, sure not high stakes but she still uses magic 90% of the time to suit her needs or what she thinks is best without consulting anyone or caring about what they think.
*sigh*
In my honest opinion, Starlight should've been a one time character or not in the show at all. I didn’t really care for then and I don’t care for her now. She’s a forced character to me.

I Just Wanna Bring This Up...
Because she picked the near bottom book Starlight Glimmer:
She almost got hurt by a collapsing unstable high tower of books
Had get saved by her friend who earned his cutie mark and left for magic school
Got so bitter that she resented cutie marks for the rest of her life and never made another friend because of cutie marks
Became a dictator of a town where everypony is equal by stealing their cutie marks and believing in a false ideology...of course except for her
Took the Mane 6’s cutie marks and forced them to stay in her town until the cutie marks magically conformed them
Specifically wanted Twilight to be conformed so that she could use her to spread her equality message to the rest of Equestria in hopes that everypony gives up their cutie marks and become equal...except for her
Got exposed and still believed in her ideology and tried to convince the villagers that “being equal” was a good thing
Stalked Twilight throughout Season 5 like a creep
Tried to get revenge on Twilight by ruining her friendship with the Mane 5 so that she and the others could never form their cutie mark connection so that Twilight feels the way she feels...while ruining Equestria in the process
...When you look at it that way...it sounds pathetically funny than sympathetic and to be taken seriously...just sayin’

No Second Prances Review
I know I’m about 2 years late but I need to get this episode off my chest. This episode was the worst episode of Season 6 with To Where And Back Again and Every Little Thing She Does not too far behind. I went in with low expectations and that’s exactly what I got. This was the episode that made me not like Starlight to this day. But first here are some things I noticed and or were positive/interesting then I’m going to talk about the Mane 3.
Pro’s
Pinkie Pie actually got a speaking role and it was more than one line, considering the fact the other two episodes with Trixie she hardly talked.
New backgrounder a in Ponyville
Spike interestingly not being present
Character Continuity
Twilight did nothing wrong and was completely justified in her actions and ended up being right

Con’s
Trixie
As soon as I saw the preview for the episode I knew I was gonna dislike this episode. Once again Trixie shows up trying to get back at Twilight for something that wasn’t her fault but Trixie’s because her biggest secret is that she was jealous of Twilight...What. A. Shocker. So Trixie makes friends with Starlight to ultimately get back at Twilight and beating her at something. One line I want to point out is this:
Trixie: Everypony always says they'll give you a second chance, but deep down, they never forget.
I mean you were the cause of that Ursa Minor that nearly destroyed Ponyville because of your boasting and you became a dictator and enslaved Ponyville and forced the citizens into manual labor. What did you think was going to happen...nearly every villain whose been redeemed has went through this in the series/movies and honestly only a few have managed to move past their mistakes completely (Luna, Discord, and Sunset) so that’s not uncommon. What Trixie needs to do is own up her mistakes and actually sincerely apologize to Twilight without having an ulterior motive but...let’s be honest that’s not happening anytime soon.
Starlight
Yes, I understand that Starlight is still going through her phase of trying to let her past go...oh wait she still hasn’t let her past go nevermind. Most of the lines she said are so contradictory with her actions in the episode that it makes her unbearable to watch and not like able...
1. Starlight’s worries about ponies in Ponyville finding out about her past...you only affected the Mane 6 and Spike and the ponies of YOUR VILLIAGE. She should’ve been worried if her old village would accept her after what she did...Oh Wait. Nevermind. That’s an insult to Luna and Sunset who actually had to deal with criticism from others.
2. Starlight getting upset about Twilight not trusting her to make her own friends: Twilight knows Trixie, Starlight doesn’t. Twilight has clashed and been a victim of Trixie before and Starlight doesn’t know about any of that. Even Trixie admitted to Starlight that she wasn’t nice and Twilight was right. If Twilight didn’t know what she was talking about she wouldn’t have said anything or was looking out for Starlight and what happened: Starlight ended up getting played and cried and ran off so that’s your fault.
3. When It Comes To Magic I Don’t Make Mistakes except for the time where I brainwashed my villiage so that cutie marks are evil so that I can force friendships and nearly destroying Equestria multiple times in a time loop and NOW I’M INSECURE ABOUT MY ACTIONS TO THE POINT WHERE I CAN’T MAKE A FRIEND IN THE FRIENDLIEST TOWN IN EQUESTRIA
4. “Nopony else in Ponyville wanted to be my friend”...If the writers expect me to feel sorry for this ⬆️ they have very low expectations. Starlight didn’t even TRY to make a friend with any of the ponies she passed by on the way to the spa. She didn’t even make friends with any of the Mane 5’s suggestions...except Angel but he’s Angel so. This line is bullshit. You can’t expect someone to feel sorry for you if you don’t put in effort like Sunset did. Yes she got rejected multiple times but she made an effort to do so on their own.
5. “I’m so glad we don’t have to go to that boring dinner” And with that line, Starlight Glimmer lost all my respect as a character. Let’s remember that Twilight planned that dinner for her to showcase how well Starlight’s been doing. Twilight didn’t have to do that for her. Twilight didn’t have to give her a second chance. Twilight could’ve sent Starlight’s ass to Tartarus or some shit but she didn’t, she let Starlight into her home, made her a student of her teachings, and Starlight says that shit. That was straight disrespectful. And she left Celestia, the ruler of all of Equestria waiting at the table. Starlight’s either bold or dumb as fuck for that one. She deserved to get what came to her for that.
After the episode aired, Starlight was official my least favorite character in the G4 franchise with Trixie at second worst.
Overall the episode gets a 1/10 that 1 being the good things I mentioned and Twilight.

The Problem With Trixie Hating/Being Jealous Of Twilight (Magic Duel)
Now here’s where Trixie’s “revenge” makes no sense whatsoever.
Trixie comes back with the Alicorn Amulet to take “revenge” on Twilight for “humiliating” her and becoming a laughing stock because of the Ursa Minor incident.
The same Ursa Minor that:
Snips and Snails brought to Ponyville because of Trixie’s story of how she defeated one
Trixie couldn’t stop because the story was a lie just so that she could make herself look better
Twilight ended up putting to sleep with a lullaby and a water tank full of milk and levitated it back into its cave in the Everfree Forest
Almost fell on top of Trixie but Twilight caught it in time saving Trixie’s life
Destroyed her wagon
So once again she has no one to blame but herself.
After the whole Alicorn Amulet incident Trixie asks Twilight for forgiveness and Twilight forgives her but how does Trixie take this newfound forgiveness and show it to Twilight...
By being a complete jerk to her in No Second Prances, and everyone said that Twilight was in the wrong

The Problem With Trixie Hating/Being Jealous Of Twilight (Boast Busters)
Earlier today, I decided to rewatch Boast Busters, Magic Duel, and No Second Prances to look at Twilight and Trixie’s “relationship” and came to the conclusion that:
Trixie being jealous of Twilight makes zero sense.
Let’s start with Boast Busters where Trixie and Twilight has their first interaction.
Trixie’s the one to call out Twilight first in the audience to try and challenge her “magic skills” while Twilight as well as the other ponies were just watching her act in silence. So Twilight did nothing wrong, Trixie started it.
After Trixie outshines/bullies Applejack, Rainbow, and Rarity, Spike begs Twilight to take Trixie on which Twilight declines but Trixie puts Twilight on the spot again by demanding to challenge her. So once again, Twilight did nothing wrong because Trixie was putting pressure on Twilight.
Later on near the end of the episode, Snips and Snails bring an Ursa Minor to Ponyville so that Trixie could vanquish it but she can’t because she made it all up to make herself look better, so Twilight has to lull the Ursa to sleep and levitate it and a full milk tank back to it’s cave in the Everfree Forest not mention saving Trixie’s life.
But even with all that Trixie’s ego and pride gets the better of her and tells Twilight that she’ll never be as “powerful” as her and she leaves.
So Trixie is the one at fault and set herself up for failure but the episode has a regular ending where Trixie’s appearance in Magic Duel makes no sense. And coincidentally this is my least favorite episode of Season 1 and Magic Duel is my least favorite episode of Season 3. Yes, Spike at Your Service was better than Magic Duel...

just came to realization about the villains of MLP:(Note that this sadly excludes Midnight Sparkle and Gloriosa Daisy and King Sombra) WHY HAVEN'T ANY OF THE VILLAINS ATTEMPTED TO GET TWILIGHT TO JOIN THEIR SIDE!!!!! 1. Twilight's Powerful 2. She's the spirit of the element of MAGIC 3. She has a RAW ability in magic 4. She's an alicorn Please let the next villain change this...Sombra would have done it BUT...

One thing I noticed in MLP FIM is that Twilight is constantly an obstacle for any of the villians that the Mane 6 have faced (not counting EG and RR) and they get shocked
Nightmare Moon- Shocked that Twilight figured out about the truth of The Elements of Harmony
Discord- Shocked that Twilight got out of his spell, turned the Mane 5 normal and freed them from his grasp
Chrysalis- Shocked that Twilight got the real Cadence out of the caves
Sombra- (Although they didn’t meet face to face) Shocked that she was able to figure out where the Crystal Heart was and setting off his signal trap
Sunset Satan- Shocked that Twilight went so far to get her crown back and that she was willing to give up her friends and everything in Equestria for Canterlot High…and her force field
Tirek- Shocked that she was able to go hoof to hoof in an all out magic battle to the point where he had to make a deal with her
Adagio Dazzle- (This only happens once, before Sunset came in and saved the Rainbooms) Adagio got mad because Twilight was trying to battle her in singing (although she did lose) Adagio was calm and confident in beating the Rainbooms but that moment alone got her mad
Starlight Glimmer- Even Starlight was shocked at Twilight’s magical ability when countering her attack
So basically Twilight has played a role in the defeat of almost every villain except for Gloriossa Daisy(Gaia Everfree) and… *sniffs* Midnight Sparkle…sadly

I want to talk about Gloriossa Daisy for a minute and is a concern. First off, I liked Gloriossa a lot in Legend of Everfree…before she transformed into a Poison Ivy wannabe. Her physical design when transformed is….uh…kinda bad but that’s not why I’m concerned It’s her plan to save the camp… I mean she just trapped everyone and the camp in a field of brambles and that’s IT. How are new generation of campers supposed to come to Camp Everfree if it’s trapped and how are those trapped campers going to survive, if you have them trapped in hot cramped brambles, they’re going to die eventually of loss of oxygen or loss of food since they’re trapped…so Gloriossa despite you having an EXCELLENT villain song your plan was not thought out that well…but it wasn’t terrible…unlike others that came before you…
