I remember the precise moment the night sky turned to day. It was early morning, 3:34 am, and I had just awoken from a dream. Sweeping the bedcovers to one side, I got up and peered out the window, the warm September evening embracing me. Whatever it was hurtled towards the earth in an immense fiery blaze and cast elongated shadows over the trees, fields and water below. I stood in awe at the sight. Once it was over and the grand anomaly faded behind the hill, I lay back in bed and remembered the contents of the dream I had awoken from. An unsettling chill rushed through me, and I turned unsettled to one side. The T-shirt I wore to bed still clung to me from the sweat. My mind remained awake, disturbed. By the morning I had forgotten the comet, meteorite or whatever strange celestial object it was, but the dream burned deep inside my mind, holding me hostage.
