hello everyone :] another silence and I apologize. things with my mother have progressed, regressed and progressed again. it was a rollercoaster of a year for me and I do not feel comfortable sharing everything but yes thats where I've been

I do not want to promise anything because im sure this must be frustrating. it's frustrating for me too! I think of this story every day and I just want the demo out! but I hope 2024 I can share a lot of this story.

thats all! I just wanted to stop by and at least share that this hasn't been abandoned. it's just.....very slow going, at least for the time being until the universe decides (hopefully) to give me a break for once.

Aw, C, you know money can fill your belly and keep you physically safe from the elements, which are all very important for a good mental health, yes, but that doesn't mean MC will still be socially and emotionally cared for. If your parent doesn't love you or they just see you as a pawn, well, that's just that, you end up deprived of parental love or you are used by said parents. Your bank balance won't change that. Your ability to seek help easily from professionals won't change that.

Plus who the hell would wish the type of pressure celebrities and royals are under to ANYONE? All that scrunity, all that control over the way you breathe and blink? How you cannot have any opinion on anything that isn't milquetoast so Peter from Hickville won't try to mail you anthrax for a perceived betrayal?

Oh, I am SO excited for C and MC interactions because they both have a point in this situation. All that class conflict is gonna be delicious. I'm not even gonna pursue them, I just want them to verbally throttle each other. 🥰

The conflict between MC and C will be juicy, yes. They just have trouble understanding each other and in the beginning C has trouble empathizing with MC. It's definitely a classic case of someone like C realizing MC isn't as bad as they first thought.

Verbal throttling will ensue, definitely!

It's kinda depressing because probably MC is seen more as a title /symbol/ pawn of a dynasty than a person. And they have no right to complain, because they are in a privileged position when most people in the world have a harder life.

MC is definitely seen as a pawn in a bigger game. They are not their own person, nor do they have agency. MC is strictly regulated and every move of theirs has to be approved by 182923822 people. And you're right. MC complaining usually just gets eye rolls from people.

MC will get that a lot from C, who is a worker at the country club they frequent at. They aren't privileged and they need to work to survive. MC's woes would just be annoying to them lol

Will MC have any hobbies and talents?

Yes, it's required for the children in the family to be good at least 1 thing to show how well-rounded they are. You will be able to choose what that thing is, and whether MC is actually good at it or not lol

Hi. It's a mixture of both! So MC will have royal duties to attend to but they are also a celebrity, so there will be charity events mixed with movie premieres mixed with official public keynotes mixed with magazine covers!

They are like the royal family but tenfold, and very famous.

Happy to be back! I always knew I'd return, I just wanted to make sure my return was permanent so I waited until I knew my life had slowed down a bit. My mom is pretty so-so now thankfully, but for a while I feared it'd be grim.

Update!

Hey guys, it's been a while! As (my) luck would have it, once I posted the intro I ended up getting swamped with work and then my mother had a health scare that put the breaks on my entire life.

Thankfully it turned out alright, but I did have to do a lot of back and forth traveling and had no time to update this blog. But I have been writing! Turns out stress can induce a lot of inspo!

I'm halfway through the demo! Everyone has probably lost interest at this point aha but if you haven't, thank you for the wait! I'll try to answer questions again now that my life has settled down and I can get back into the swing of things.

Definitely one of the inspos! But GG inspiration mostly came through in the the whole luxury/rich people doing rich people things/elitist/elitism aspect of the story. I didn't want the rich people of Modern Elites to just be...rich.

I want them to be rich. The silent .001 percenters that feel more like a myth than anything else. Illuminati rich! Old money rich!

Here's the thing: I really don't care about the romance part much because I am DYING for the family drama.

What always fascinated me about aristocratic/nobility/royal protagonists and their relationships with their pushy/overbearing/controlling families is "At which point do you stop seeing your child as your child and start seeing them as a pawn in your schemes? Or did you ever see them as your child, who didn't ask to be brought into this world and who certainly won't appreciate controlled on how to live their lives, or were they always a way for you to make the ends meet?"

Of course, there is also the matter of those families sometimes not seeing anything wrong with how they act because that's how their families were to them, and/or they are acting on what they genuinely believe to be the best for their children.

And sometimes, if your child doesn't want to listen or obey, it's completely fine to threaten them with loss of their wealth, their security in this world they are not prepared whatsoever to handle. The act of threatening to throw your child to the wolves (or actually throwing them) because you want them to be safe but only by what you think as 'safe' and 'right' for them is such a contradictory, even self-deluding concept that I can't help but love so much to read about.

What I'm trying to say is, I hope there is plenty of family conflict, especially with a Rebellious MC but really, it probably would exist even with the most obeident or royal-minded MC.

Really glad you brought this up because this will def be a theme in the story, especially since MC is the heir.

The family is all about appearances and they put their reign above everything, even their fellow blood.

Family conflict? There will be tons of that, dw!
