Welcome to the Summer 2025 Buddie Big Bang!

Tired of hiatus already? Looking for a way to spread positivity and have fun in fandom? Sign up for the Summer 2025 Buddie Big Bang! We are looking for authors, artists, betas, and cheerleaders who love Buddie and want to create fanworks to share with the fandom. We have three tracks that require varying types of commitment to recognize the busy, diverse lives in the fandom, and will allow the fun to continue all summer long (& beyond). There are no to what you can write about, as long as it is Buddie centric. Canon, canon-divergence, and complete AUs are all acceptable - it's up to you!

How can you participate?

If you're an author wanting to pen a fic, you can sign up here. You can choose from three tracks - the 4 week, 5k minimum track, the 10 week, 15k minimum track, or the 16 week, 25k minimum track.

If you're an artist who wants to create art for one of our authors' fics, you can sign up here. Again, there are three tracks to choose from - the 2 week banner track, the 6 week banner+art piece track, and the 10 week banner+2 art pieces track.

If you want to help support our authors by providing beta services you may sign up here! Betas will be assigned to authors who indicate they want one when they sign up.

Finally, if you just want to offer encouragement to our author and artist pairs, you can sign up to be a cheerleader here. You will be expected to provide kind words, act as a sounding board, and give gentle nudges.

Title: From Scorched Earth, a Phoenix Rises, chapter 12?

Fandom: 911, Hawaii 5-0

Pairing: Buddie, McDanno, BuckTommy (breakup), minor Deacon/Hondo (SWAT, platonic) and Reyes Vidal/Scott Ryder (Mass Effect Andromeda)

Tags/warnings: (eventual) explicit sex, canon divergence from end of season 7, character bashing (Tommy Kinard, Helena Diaz), child abuse, canon typical violence, sentinel/guide AU, spirit animals, anchors, BuckTommy breakup (this fic is very not friendly to Tommy Kinard), first time, Bad Diaz Parents, minor pairings are used in place of OCs. 

Summary: An anchor, however fragile, can keep even an offline sentinel from manifesting as long as it is maintained. When his anchor is removed, Eddie Diaz enters a deep zone.  Can Buck, a long unattached guide, save his best friend from slipping away?

Helena Diaz is unimpressive, unconscious as she is, laying with her limbs encircled by cuffs with a chain attached to the guardrails of the medical gurney.  Danny knows her to be only fifty nine but he would have guessed she was older due to the deep frown lines around her mouth and the unhappy twist to her mouth as he carefully brings her closer to consciousness but doesn’t allow her to fully wake.

REM sleep is funny.  It’s not as deep and hard to probe as the restful part of deep stage three sleep, but it has it’s uses when needing to extract information from unsuspecting subjects.  What Danny intends to do isn’t something that most run-of-the-mill guides can do but is something only an alpha like him or a shaman can do, although shamans tend to use it for healing whereas Danny intends to gather enough evidence to allow Helena Diaz to confess her motives.  

After all, you can’t lie in your dreams to a guide as mental shields are mostly ineffective in the dream state leaving nulls like Helena vulnerable to assessment.  

They have enough evidence that Danny has been given the go ahead to do the interrogation using his own authority as an alpha.  If you were being a real stickler, he maybe should defer to the south Texas alpha guide but the locals are staying as far away as possible from a suspected suppressant poisoning as possible. 

Is what Danny’s about to do entirely ethical?  

Probably not.  Helena’s not had legal representation to argue on her behalf against the questioning.

Does he care?  

No.

He doesn’t give a rat’s ass what’s ethical in this case.  The woman likely gave a suppressant to at least one of her children before puberty and if Isabel is right when Eddie was only three years old. The likelihood that Sophia and Adriana Diaz were also dosed as their brother had been is high and there’s others tasked with meeting with both women and getting them tested immediately.  

From what Isabel Diaz had told Danny, neither woman has had a successful adult relationship lasting more than six months.  It’s a pattern and Danny hates the cause of it. 

How could they have done this to their own children?

Ramon Diaz is on the cot on the other side of his wife, still deep asleep from where Christopher had dropped him. His mind is so silent that it’s almost as if he were dead and its only if Danny really focuses that he can find the wisps of a trail to follow down into the deep subconscious where Ramon has been buried by the little Guide’s self preservation instincts. 

Impressive little guide, Zara whispers into Danny’s mind, her fur brushing against his pantleg. 

Danny snorts, looking down at his wolf.  Zara’s golden fur is smooth underneath his fingers as he buries his fingers in her ruff, grounding himself.  “Untrained.”

Zara’s chuckle tickles Danny’s brain.  Untrained yet powerful.  He comes from a powerful lineage.

“Is that your way of giving me a hint?” Danny asks, frowning as Zara leaves his side to sniff at Ramon.

Cocking her head, Zara sneezes.  He too smells of suppressant—it oozes from his sweat glands.  She only does on her fingers. 

“Eddie wouldn’t have the genetics if it hadn’t come from his parents and it would make sense to come from his father…”

Correct.  I wonder if Ramon Diaz was always stunted or if he willingly took the poison upon meeting his wife?

Eddie pushes his shorts and underwear down his own hips, and Buck takes that cue, takes them from Eddie’s hands and tugs them off all the way.

Buck practically falls to his knees after, even though he stays on the bed. He crouches, bends his head low, digs his hands into Eddie’s thighs.

Eddie lets them fall open. Buck probably wants to touch him, maybe look at him. If it were anyone else, Eddie would avoid it. He doesn’t need to be stared at, scrutinized, objectified. He doesn’t like to have anyone this close.

But he would let Buck. It’s Buck.

Buck’s hands tremble against Eddie’s legs. He bends lower and places the softest, lightest kiss just above Eddie’s knee. His eyes are squeezed shut and he pants hot rushed puffs of breath against the inside of Eddie’s thigh.

“Eddie,” he says quietly, so quiet but so heavy with longing. Years of longing? Like how Eddie also feels like nothing but gaping emptiness? “Eddie. You’re so— Eddie.”

Eddie’s heart is loud in his own ears. Is looking at him too much? Seeing him naked is too much? Buck’s seen him naked plenty. Not like this. Nothing like this. But still. They’ve changed in front of each other thousands of times. They lived together for six months. They helped each other bathe when the other was injured. Which is a whole other kind of intimacy. It’s not this.

Buck rests his face against the inside of Eddie’s thigh, and Eddie’s pretty sure the wetness sliding over his leg is Buck’s escaped tears.

Eddie presses teeth into his lower lip and reaches down until he can sift his fingers through Buck’s thick curls. It makes Buck whimper a tortured, lonely sound that breaks Eddie’s heart.

He knows that sound. He knows that feeling. Eddie shivers, aches with it the same way Buck does.

“Come here,” Eddie whispers gently. He sits up a little, strokes Buck’s soft hair, and urges him with both hands to be closer.

Buck listens to him without question, and it feels forbidden, mythical, fantastical, miraculous.

hey, it's me (and Evie my dog. say hi to her!). i hate making these posts as they fill me with so much anxiety, despite never receiving hate for them (thank god and thank you all!), besides the guilt i feel considering the horrible times we live in, but i need help again. i'm brazilian & autistic and so is my brother. while i have a part time job, my brother has been unemployed (not for a lack of trying) for months now. luckily, he had a job interview, but they required a new medical document to prove his autism and that type of evaluation is PRICEY, so our already frail finances took a serious hit. can you help me? i would be so, so thankful 😭
