Please, I’m begging for traitor silent salt they wouldn’t just drop a suspiciously shaped silent salt silhouette and the suspiciously silent visitor for nothing

I am really hoping that, instead of Silent Salt being the villain of their chapters, it's White Lily being confronted with the idea that her Beast had more connections with their friends and actively did less objectively terrible things than she did, both as White Lily and Dark Enchantress. I want Silent Salts' crime to be revealed to be that they just didn't want to fight against their friends, leading to the other Beasts killing so many people because of their inaction.

I want the Silent Salts chapters to be themed around the concept of guilt. I want Silent Salt to be more like the ancients, to foil the way that White Lily is more like the Beasts.

I want Silent Salt to only want White Lily's Soul Jam because they see it as the only way to set themselves free from the title of Beast, of Dark Enchantress's control and of their own guilt.

I want the twist in Silent Salts chapters to be that they end up trading Soul Jams, White Lily becoming Silence, and Silent Salt becoming Freedom. I want them both to end up helping each other through their issues, and for Silent Salt to be the first Beast to not only want to make themselves better for their other half, but also fully join them.

But even if none of this happens, I will still love the story because, god damn it, I love knight characters. I just want Silent Salt.

I feel like Eternal Sugar Cookie is an interesting case in confirmation bias. And just to be clear, I’m talking about her characterization. Time and time again, she uses the fact that the cookies who leave, always come back to her, as “proof” that her place truly is what she says it is: a paradise that everyone wishes to willingly remain. But as we see in Episodes 9 and 10, it’s the sweet scent given by ES herself that draws hordes of monsters to attack whoever leaves. She is actively sabotaging their ability to find happiness anywhere else but within her garden and using this to validate her claims both to others and to herself.

But as much as she says it is for the sake of others – or rather, “for their own good” – this comes off more like she’s trying to protect herself. Eternal Sugar has ZERO coping mechanisms. She cannot handle any form of emotional pain, be it something as small as disappointment or as large as Hollyberry leaving. The minute things start going wrong, that angelic mask slips.

Maybe at the beginning, the idea of the garden was made with good intentions, but soon Eternal Sugar relied on it more than anyone else. It is the only thing that keeps her from experiencing the pain of her own bleeding heart. However, over the years, that wish has since twisted into something a lot more poisonous.

Eternal Sugar says she’s pursuing happiness for all, but in reality, she’s only pursuing her own Happiness. It has to be HER garden and it has to be PERFECT according to how she defines perfection. Everyone has to follow HER rules. SHE knows best. DON’T do things she won’t like or else wind up a statue. There can be NO COMPROMISE. You could be the safest and happiest cookie on Earthbread, but if it isn’t within HER garden, then clearly you MUST be miserable! Things can only go her way, and her way alone.

But it’s the right way, isn’t it? Just look at how many cookies come flocking to her garden! Just look at all those smiles! She can’t possibly be in the wrong if everyone is happy! (Forced or otherwise…)

If you love something, set it free, and if it truly loves you then it will return. And oh, look how fast those cookies come running back!

Yes, Eternal Sugar is absolutely in the right. And anybody who says otherwise, clearly just doesn’t know any better….

At least, that’s the faulty logic she’s been living by for centuries.

Hollyberry eating a berry containing the condensed suffering of everyone in the garden and awakening because of it was the best move they could have made. genuinely. and it highlights a key difference between her and Eternal Sugar

when it first appeared, I was like oh no. this is going to go so badly. this sounds like it's going to hurt her. but then she talked about how she had been running away from all the pain she's felt, the suffering within her heart that she's ignored for so long, a pain so terrible she turned her heart away from love entirely. she ran away from reality because it caused her so much pain

and then she realized in the garden that the only way she could escape and be stronger was to embrace it. to feel that pain. to feel the grief, the fear, the pure anxiety the Dark Flour War and all her running caused. she bit into that berry and felt all of that pain, but she said it best: "reality, in all its quiet cruelty, can make even the bravest of heroes flee. … Happiness cannot exist without Pain as its shadow." and she's right! and she embraces the reality of pain, suffering, and hardship. embracing that pain makes the happiness she feels all the stronger

I think this is also part of why she defeated Eternal Sugar. this entire paradise was built because Eternal Sugar could not accept the reality of suffering. she wanted her own form of happiness, and she was willing to do whatever it took to create this paradise for herself and others. she is so adamant that she knows Hollyberry better than anyone, and she thinks Hollyberry needs to put down her shield and stop protecting those she cares about, all in the name of avoiding that pain. and in theory, that sounds like something Hollyberry would do. it kind of is something she already did. she stepped down from being queen because she wanted to avoid that pain. she left her grand shield in her palace and brandished a wooden one in Beast Yeast to avoid that pain. she ran, all to avoid that pain. of course Eternal Sugar would think that putting down her shield is the best thing for her to do

neither of them could accept the realities in front of them, and they each tried to avoid it. they both ran. Hollyberry recognized how important it was that she embrace that pain to feel happiness as strongly as she does, as passionately as she does. Eternal Sugar can't do that. she won't. she's too afraid to confront the reality in front of her ("don't leave… for if you do…it would mean the Happiness I've grown and nurtured was…wrong") that she needs pain to feel happiness. her idea of happiness without pain is wrong. plain and simple. Hollyberry recognizes that and is stronger for it

it's the best way they could have done her awakening. I stand by that

I love how seriously they addressed hollyberry cookie's drinking problem because usually it's all jokes about her drinking berry juice and being drunk 24/7 but it still stems from a dark and heavy sadness she had after the war and after thinking she lost one of her best friends

MORE CIRCE ETERNAL SUGAR PROPAGANDA

I just thought how Puppeteer from Epic The musical would also fit Eternal Sugar so so much, in this song sorceress Circe seduces Ody's men in order to lure them in and transformed them into pigs. While idk yet what Eternal Sugar plans to do with those she trapped in her paradise, I am sure it's something like Mystic Flour, believing that she is making good but is actually harmful.

Eternal Sugar and Hollyberry to There Are Other Ways from EPIC The Musical.

Eternal Sugar’s skill is about seduction in some form, Circe’s whole thing in that song is to try and seduce Odysseus. Put Hollyberry as Odysseus, boom some cool stuff.

Even if I don’t go for the toxic one sided ship route (ships Hollyberry with Dark Cacao and Golden Cheese as a polycule), that song still fits extremely well for the two.

Eternal Sugar Pre Corrupt Sketch

I wanted to make something with Eternal Sugar since she comes out soon, but I needed to sketch out a pre corrupt version first.

Catified Eternal Sugar is also being drawn but I wanted to do this first.

Notes below!

She’s slightly more plump than her canon design due to how in Ancient Greece, being pretty thin was not idealized beauty… so if you consider that and how I see her pre corrupt-

She didn’t have a tail, but her more demon wings used to be feathered, and looked similar to the second pair of wings a butterfly, and faeries, have.

I made her hair shorter to make it easier to draw, but it’s still long! It’s just tired up,

Slightly different chiton style but it’s pretty much the same

I like to think that all pre corrupt beasts had more round pupils until after they corrupted.

I actually have one more headcanon to share because he infests my mind (I’ve been gone a while I’ll get more active eventually)

Silent Salt was baked with softer dough than intended, this not only causes pain when touched, it also makes it harder for him to heal his wounds when hurt. This is the main reason why he wears armor.

Canon Silent Salt is definitely going to be so different but, I have my AU version of him always.

Silent Salt Headcanons I had for a while:

Silent Salt was mute way before he corrupted. When did try to speak after first being baked, his voice can barely be heard, his yelling is as loud as a whisper. Despite this he was still able to do his duties well.

Before sign language was made and became widely used (I headcanon that Twilight Milk (Shadow Milk) made sign language for cookie kind), Silent Salt had to find another way to communicate other ways. While he couldn’t vocally make noise, he can make different kinds of noises with whatever he can use (mainly with his sword). Each pitch and type of sound can mean something, and he can make many different noises, combined with body language. This is his main form of communication, but Shadow Milk, when he’s not causing chaos, does take the time to teach him sign language, and he begrudgingly lets him.

On note with his way of communication, Mystic Flour was the first to learn it and translate each sound to the others so they could understand what he’s saying. However, after he was sealed away, cookie kind used sign language more, and as he was forgotten, so was his way of communicating (Elder Faerie would remember though, but I’m not sure if any other faeries would know depending on how old they are) and Without any of the Beasts there to translate, no one will understand what he’s trying to say.

Silent Salt found a way to remove the sound of metal from his armor, so no one can hear him move. On top of that he learned how to walk without making sound. Really the only way you can hear him, is if you can hear him breathing.

Silent Salt will move his soul jam from his chest plate to his sword to put more power into his attacks, and vice versa to strengthen his armor. He mostly wears it on his chest plate so he can communicate without cutting something in half with his sword however.

Out of all of the Beasts, Silent Salt is closest with Mystic Flour, and it’s continued to be that way throughout the centuries (no this is not a ship, if anything it’s more platonic than romantic)

On the contrary, he doesn’t really like Shadow Milk (but he did like him when he was Twilight Milk). He didn’t like him ever since he corrupted for a lot of reasons, some more personal than others. He’ll still work with him but very begrudgingly, and only because the other beasts are with him.

He and Burning Spice have a friendly rivalry due to the fact he’s the only one that’s willing to fight Burning Spice and entertain him for a few hours. Sometimes Burning Spice can scare him a bit though.

He doesn’t like anyone taking off his armor. At all. Just don’t do it for your own sake.
