My own reading includes two tropes I absolutely hate, so that’s a no-go, but this is my husband’s, and now I want so much to write a fic where Kevin goes back in time and plays Cyrano for either Sami trying to woo young!Kevin or young!Kevin trying to woo Sami. Imagine young!Kevin being impressed by this mysterious stranger’s skill with words, or young!Sami being moved at the depth of the mysterious stranger’s understanding of regret and love! The angst!

Welp, for a long time it’s been my headcanon that this is Kevin’s song about missing Sami (he first started talking about how much he loved the song while Sami was out with injury), and him posting about it right now only encourages this.

Last night I re-read some of  @moonsault-fics​  Sami and Kevin stories and guys they hit just as good as the first 3 times I’ve read them.

Extreme Deadline Letter

Dear Extreme Deadlines Writer: Hello and thank you for being willing to write some of these characters and pairings!  Please have fun with whatever you pick, that’s the most important thing. A list of narrative things I love includes: identity play; fluffiness where you’d least expect it; regrets and reconciliation; amnesia; enemies being forced to work together; sad stories that somehow manage to end happily. I’d prefer if fic remain kayfabe-compliant--that is, the wrestlers don’t know how matches are going to go. I’m perfectly happy with a G or PG romantic fic, or with a PG-13 fade to black story! But if you do decide to go NC-17, things I particularly enjoy include any variety of dubcon (sex pollen, magic rituals, forced into it by an enemy); D/s dynamics where the sub is either very into it or starts reluctant and gets into it; oral sex; handjobs; fealty and praise kink; masturbation; any kind of getting off without actual contact--via voice, phone sex, telepathy, magic, what have you. Cruelty is a turn-off, but people expecting cruelty and getting affection (whether D/s or not) is very nice. Big DNWs include infidelity (please just assume this is a world in which any married wrestlers never got married in shippy fic); rape and non-con; anything where one person is humiliated or treated cruelly and doesn't enjoy it.

I also really enjoy non-mundane AUs, so if you want to move everyone into a medieval world or into space, go for it and have fun!

Specific to the pandemic issues:  If you write something set now, COVID-19 is hard to ignore, because it’s affecting the wrestling world so much.  I’d be fine (and even enjoy) anything about wrestlers being touch-starved and isolated because they’re on different brands/promotions and thus unable to meet up with each other.  Please don’t give anyone the disease, though.

WWE, Sami Zayn

I’d love anything character-driven about him right now.  I live for the day he turns face again, so if you want to fantasy-book a scenario where he learns to love wrestling and the fans again, that would be great!  It can be gen or shippy--I ship him with Kevin or Cesaro particularly.  I’d rather not have Kevin turn heel to turn him face, though!  I love the idea that Bray could come after Sami and trap him in a Funhouse match where different versions of Sami have to fight for his soul--if you want to add in any other wrestlers that could be a wonderful meta romp through his long, long history.  A simple exploration of where he is right now and how he feels about his stolen championship as he listens to his Bob Dylan and entertains the neighborhood cats would be lovely too.

Seth Rollins/Buddy Murphy

I am really into Buddy Murphy’s total loyal submission, not gonna lie.  Dude got tights made up with “DISCIPLE” written on them.  I would be 100% here for anything where Seth requires Buddy to prove his loyalty in more private ways, or where Buddy struggles to put aside his doubts and fully embrace his Messiah.  Dub-con is very welcome.  Nominations closed before Austin Theory joined the flock, but feel free to write him in as well--Seth may well require Buddy to initiate Austin into the pleasures of disciplehood, or make Buddy prove his loyalty by having him stand by and watch Seth do that himself.

Asuka/Kairi Sane

It looks like Asuka won’t be green-misting many people anymore (both because she’s turned face and because spitting in wrestlers’ eyes isn’t a good look right now) which is a shame.  I’m fond of the theory that the green mist could be an aphrodisiac, so if you want to write Asuka gifting her sweet adorable Kairi with any member of the women’s roster hopped up on sex pollen, that sounds wonderful.  On the fluffier side, any sort of celebration between Kairi and Asuka upon winning the tag titles or Asuka winning the Raw championship would be great!

Keith Lee/Dominic Dijakovic

I believe there are 0 fics with these two, and that is a crying shame.  Feel free to bring in Damien Priest to sexily menace either one and require the other one to come to the rescue, with as much pining, blurted out confessions, and hurt/comfort as you like to add.  I feel like these two would make a wonderful fantasy or historical AU couple too--there’s a True Warriors vibe between them that would translate well into something like that.  Knights of the Round Table?  Knights Templar?  Anything with lots of stoicism, honor, and camaraderie.

AEW, Vanguard-1

Alas, Vanguard-1, taken before your time!  I tend to assume that NEO-1 is the Vanguard-1 upgraded, but if we receive canon confirmation that it’s a different drone, you can run with that.  I just… like Vanguard’s personality as has been revealed in his interactions with Jericho, I like his loyalty, and I like to imagine he’s very devoted to the Hardy Family.  Any exploration of his take on the Hardys, their world, the Inner Circle, the rest of the Elite, Matt’s multiple personalities, etc. would be a lot of fun.

Longest fic:  Nothing Without You, which is actually part of Torturous Electricity, a longer series, and my first Kevin and Sami story of any length.  25,879 words.

Shortest fic: Strap Match, a bit of dark Sami/Kevin, at 326 words.

Most hits: Victor Echo is some angsty Ambrollins!  2,338 hits.

Most kudos: Also Victor Echo. It’s not my OTP, but I’m fine with that one being popular because I did like the twist to it.  Plus I do love Ambrollins.  I should write some more of them now, because angsty separation is my jam.

Most comment threads: To the Victors... I really love this story, honestly!  Though I’m kind of embarrassed to realize that the theme of “Kevin and Sami make a convoluted mental deal that they can only have sex under certain conditions” is one I love to write so much...

Most bookmarks: Texts to No One, which is in part because I was writing it as canon unfolded and had to adapt to what canon threw at me every week. It was a fun challenge! (Also, more convoluted “Sami and Kevin can only confess how they feel under weird, specific circumstances.” I apparently have a brand).

Favourite fic I wrote: Oh, that one’s difficult!  Maybe Unconditional, which is super-angsty sex pollen, because I loved delving into Kevin’s racked-up miserable regrets and bravado at that point of time in canon.  To the Victors... is also way up there for angsty iddiness and delving way into Kevin&s mind and heart.

Fic you want to rewrite/expand on: I am still working on The Prize, I swear!  I really should pick up writing something less porny in addition, because the porniness is giving me fits lately.
