I find it weird how SJM has written the same story line multiple times. How the main love interest (Rowan, Cassian and Rhysand) get the main character to their very breaking point and then help them to get better.
It makes me think the way that they help the main character (Aelin, Nesta and Feyre) to get better is by also kind of shaping them to be how they want them to be.

How was Rhysand totally cool about having sex not even a year later after being raped by Amarantha for 50 years?
Feyre really only got on top of him the same way that Amarantha always did and boom he was 💫healed from his trauma💫. 💀

"Defender of the Rainbow" has to be one of the most ridiculous title I have ever come across.
Why the hell did SJM write that read it and think "Yeah thats really good".

Im not even the biggest fan of Feyre but the way some people talk about her is insane.
Someone said that Feyre is a brat because she was mad at Rhysand when she found out that he was her mate when he knew about it from the start and didnt tell her.
Like what. She was so right being mad about Rhysand not telling her something so important. And its usually people who call themselves fans of Feyre who say bullshit like this.

And it's funny to see how societal attitudes shift over time. Because you bring up things like worldbuilding, politics, what makes sense and what doesn't, and the number one response is, "It doesn't matter, it's a silly little fantasy book that we read for fun!" And you realize the people saying these things are literally saying that they don't care how well-crafted a story is as long as they get what they want out of it...which, fair. But not so long ago, I remember how much people would've rioted if stories were written as fanservice for the readers instead of in a way that was objectively good and made sense. But now, we praise the authors that do that?

Saw someone on reddit say that Feyre dancing for Rhysand UTM is the hottest thing in the whole series.
I am disgusted.
Rhysand literally made her dress up in almost nothing then drugged her and made her dance for him in front of all the people who were UTM and Feyre doesnt even remember anything from those nights.

It always crossed my mind how differently SJM dealt with death and resurrection when it came to Feyre, Amren and Rhysand.
Both Amren and Feyre lose something when they die. Rhysand however, and very predictably, stays the same.
Feyre loses her humanity, Amren loses her god-like gifts. And Rhysand loses...nothing.
I think it was a strength to have characters who "died" also have a part of themselves stripped away in exchange for a second chance at life. It made sense. Death is meant to be final and uncompromising, so to cheat Death should come at a cost.
And we see how it affects Feyre and Amren. Feyre has to adjust to her new life and the trauma she has been through. It wasn't easy and it took time before she could accept the new version of her life, and the circumstances that led to it.
SJM does not go into depth about Amren's change, but there is still an adjustment period and an understanding from everyone that Amren will never again be what she once was (whatever that was since SJM never went into detail).
But Rhysand doesn't have to pay any price for dying like the other two. Despite having been resurrected, he is still the same old "most powerful high lord" as before. Beyond being so unsurprising on SJM's part, it's also boring?
I don't expect huge consequences, but we see nothing at all. No personality change (regrettably), no loss of power (also regrettably), no emotional scars/post-revival trauma, no memory loss etc.
I believe a resurrection shouldn't be so cheaply given. And its unfair how the female characters in the story have to face consequences whereas Rhysand bounces back more annoying than ever no problem.
It doesn't drastically change or hinder the story in any way, but these small details would have given the story more depth and made Rhysand a more compelling and believable character. It's so on brand that her obsessive need for Rhysand to always come out on top, unchanged and "perfect" is the one consistent thread in her books.

You know the more I look into people talking about how SJM has copied other authors books the more shocked I am.
Its insane how people dont talk about this more like damn. I would understand if she got inspiration from them but she has actually copied some of the characters personalities, some scenes and other little things.

Saw someone say on reddit that Velaris probably actually has shitty music, art, theatre, fashion and so on because they have been shut off for thousands of years.
It honestly would make so much sense.

Honestly Im not the biggest fan of the fated mates trope. Atleast not by SJM.
It feels like almost all of the couples are only together because theyre mates. Like if they were not, sure maybe they would hook up a few times but actually get together... dont think so.

Ill be so mad if SJM pairs Mor and Emerie together.
Emerie deserves better than Mor whose personality could be compared to a piece of cardboard.
