I have a legit question for MCU fans
Why do some of you hate Coulson? I’m sorry if it seems like a dumb question, I’m just confused.

Anti Skye/Daisy Johnson rant (skip this post if you like her)
DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU LIKE SKYE/DAISY JOHNSON I’M SERIOUS I WILL NOT ENGAGE IN DEBATES OVER SKYE
I hold hope that Skye’ll finaly wake up - until s3 end (and even at first half of s4 though I stopped watching after s3 finale, that’s what recaps are for). But Daisy “You don’t get to decide who should die” Johnson nailed it.
She did the exact same things that Grant did but Fail3 think she should be hailed as a “hero” and he as an “ultimate evil” - they didn’t convince me.
I used to write off her terrible childish behaviour as temporary, that she’ll grow out of it. But now I’m the same age as her and I’m tired of it. Tired of seeing all over “how awesome she is”, “how great she is”, “how incredible she is”.
Where? Where is that, damn it?
In season 1 I wasn’t terribly impressed by her (like Grant said in s01e02 “she makes a mess and never sticks around for consequences”) but I saw potential in her.
I saw the selfless desire to help people just because. I saw heart of gold under flimsy attitude. But there was also capability for cruelty and mockery and abandoning people because, surprise, they actually aren’t what she pictured them to be in her head:
Yes, Miles committed crime, he got people killed, he wasn’t all that noble as per the Rising tide code of conduct. Yes, Jiaying was going to commit genocide, she killed people for her goals.
That doesn’t mean that Skye’s turning on Miles didn’t cause a whiplash in my brain - wasn’t this the person who helped Skye in her darkest hours? Who helped her to discover that she was good at hacking? I don’t mean she should have forgiven him. But she wrote him off (and years of their friendship) so fast like it wasn’t a big and important part of her life. Jiaying being a liar and genocidal-mass-murderess-wanna-be doesn’t suddenly mean that everything (years of helping and nurturing and protecting people) she did at Afterlife was evil (at least in my book). Yet Skye compares her to Garrett. To John goddamn “I’ll kidnap a teenager and make him my personal weapon because I’m dying and will need a back-up plan” Garrett. For all her plans the fact that Jiaying staged the whole thing with Gonzales tells me she did it presicely because otherwise she wouldn’t have gotten other Inhumans’ support. Meaning (at least for me) that they weren’t following her blindly. She had to orchestrate the scenario of S.H.I.E.L.D. presenting very real and immediate threat to make Inhimans support her declaration of war. War which she thought was needed because her people would never be safe from the likes of S.H.I.E.L.D./Hydra (and seeing what “pro-Inhuman” Coulson did I think she was right - if only she was meeting him and not Gonsalez). And all of it for Daisy to call her mother months later “crazy” and for Lincoln to call Afterlife a “lie”.
My point is I have an issue with her throwing a tantrum every time things are not what she pictured them to be in her head. And she did it from the start of this disgusting show. Like with S.H.I.E.L.D. - she finally found the place she belongs in, found family and it all turned out to be a lie. Because S.H.I.E.L.D. never was “protecting people”, it always was “shady government toolbags” and “let’s stick them in the Fridge where they’ll never see a daylight ever again”. But Coulson re-made her into what he and May wanted - obedient little soldier. (Reminds me of certain someone who shall not be named).
But this disturbing whole “indoctrinate Skye in S.H.I.E.L.D” storyline can be laid on showrunners and writers’ conscience (lack thereof).
While her utter childish stupidity in tactical decisions, her constant getting people killed because of her actions and as consequence of Coulson’s lenience - not completely.
Like, OMG, have someone call her out on it. Have someone point these flaws to her. Have her react and work on trying to be an actual competent agent because what she is (and became in s2 and later) - is a thug. With superpowers. And in a catsuit. Not an agent.
And she showed these signs since the beginning of s1. I kept thinking they’ll be addressed. I kept thinking she’ll outgrow it. I kept thinking writers will make an effort to actually write her as an agent not just make Coulson say “she’s my best agent”. Like wtf, man? Where? She learnt how to handle sniper rifle, learnt how to held her own against Kara “I have a special designation - agent 33 - that’s how good an agent I am” Palamas and Melinda “I’m a goddess of hand-to-hand combat bow before my glory - by the way I would totally kick Black Widow’s ass - the Cavalry” May in under several months? But I digress. She repeatedly was written as immature and capable of vicious cruel mockery for those who were already kicked down (that line of hers in Afterlife when she sees Raina is there too -“what she’s doing here, throw her out, she’s evil, how dare she be here, this place is pure and good and stuff”). Raina showed some class-A entitlement (“Skye got what was rightfully mine”) but Skye showed the same level.
I’m done with her. And with Skyeward.
The only way I still see them working out is in complete AUs - not AUs of s2, 3, 4, etc. After Grant gets therapy and help and/or fair trial (nowhere near these goddamn gross people as AOShit protagonists) and Skye/Daisy Johnson - “first female superhero” fucking grows up and starts behaving as an adult.
Do not take it personally if I unfollow any one because of pro-Skye, Daisy Johnson-positivity posts. I’m done trying to like her. I rather make headcanons in which she works on her flaws and becomes who she had potential to be instead of being Mary Sue of showrunners.
Feel free to unfollow me right now if I offended you or your feelings in any way. It wasn’t my intention but this is my opinion, my blog and I’m done giving a damn about other people’s opinions and needing to please them and seeking validation in others.
Goodbye, Skyeward. You won’t be missed.

sometimes i think about how kara isn’t like ward. sure, they have similar experiences, but they are not the same. she was a shield agent. she CHOSE that path. last episode showed she has a mom who cares about her, who kept photos of her and who seemed to have a good relationship with her. she probably had a normal childhood. she must have been the type of person who truly wanted to help people and do good, to be able to enter and graduate from the academy and then become a shield agent. she was so fiercely loyal to the cause it left hydra no option but to brainwash her.
look at kara now. she’s a fugitive on the run. she kidnaps and kills innocent doctors who help her. she kills innocent people who get in her way, threatens people when she’s backed into a corner. that’s not who she is, not who the true kara is. it couldn’t possibly be if you look at her history. that’s who ward is.
hydra broke kara down and chipped away everything she was. and when she was left with an empty shell, ward “rescued” her and helped her “save herself”….. by turning her into him.
kara was someone who decided they wanted to be a shield agent, and who was good at it. probably similar to fitz or skye or jemma or bobbi. that’s not the type of person who would do all these criminal activities, who would hurt people to achieve her means.
people say ward saved kara and he’s helping her. but is he, really? look at what she’s become. just like him. and that’s not something anyone should want to be. ward may THINK he’s helping her, but i believe he’s done more damage than good.

Jemma “Don’t ever forget that HYDRA are ALL Nazis” Simmons
Ah yeah…..the Jemma Simmons who worked for Hydra for MONTHS, furthering their goals, doing their bidding, putting her considerable skills as a scientist at their disposal, helping and supporting HYDRA’s goals.
Just like Bobbi Morse, who was one of their top security people, aka enforcers, and who on top of that also sold other SHIELD agents to them.
Anybody remember the gruesome fate of Kara Palamas, aka Agent 33, at the hands of Bakshi and Daniel Whitehall? Because I do.
Oh, you’re going to say that both Jemma and Bobbi weren’t really Hydra, but double agents with ulterior motifs, and that because of it, all the atrocities they committed while working for Hydra don’t matter?
Wow.
Guess you can sweep a lot of stuff under the rug *if you mean well*.
And you’re going to say that it doesn’t matter that the two of them were card-carrying Hydra members, Hydra jackets and cute little Hydra buttons and helping Hydra control and kill people and all, because again, double agents with ulterior motifs?
Funny how that never seems to matter when somebody points out how Hydra, as an organization that is millenia old, only joined the Nazis because they had ulterior motives too: make use of the Nazis’ resources to further their own goals (and then kill them alongside everybody else). Because being a parasite is Hydra’s MO (see SHIELD, which they were a part of for far longer).
But yeah, measuring the heroes and the villains by completely different standards in order to confirm your bias is a-o.k..
Seriously, you just gotta love the smell of self-righteous hypocrisy in the morning.
P.S.:
Words mean things.
Definitions matter.
And if you want to fight something, you need to understand it.
So for chrissakes, learn the difference between Nazis and other fascist-type ideologies.
P.P.S.:
Also, if you want to be a critical thinker, bloody well learn to question the behaviour of the so-called “good guys” alongside with the behaviour of the bad guys.
Just because someone claims to be a “good guy” and often does nice things, doesn’t mean they can’t also do some ethically really questionalble stuff that they need to be held accountable for too.

No character in that shit "Julia" book will ever be as iconic as the OG Syme.
Not only she didn't create any cool character, but she also shat on the preexisting ones. Also, the worldbuilding was lame.

belle wants adventure in the great, wide somewhere. who better to take her than gaston, the hunter and outdoorsman?
Not only that, but Belle could also be introduced to a different kind of intelligence. Gaston not only is a skilled hunter, but he's also a successful businessman and a community leader. If Gaston wasn't such a dickhead,I believe Belle could've really enjoyed his company and even have the intellectual challenge she wants/needs.
why i ship belle with gaston instead of the prince (1991 movie)
strap in, y’all, this one’s gonna be a doozy. most of my points below are based on evidence in the animated movie, but with a sprinkle truckload of headcanon/fan theory (as such, please take all of this lightheartedly).
Tumblr media
1. the beast is a dick even when it’s clear that no one wants him to be. when the prince acts like an arrogant jerk or lashes out, his servants cower in fear or are generally displeased– and they make this displeasure known to him. yet, he doesn’t change his behavior until belle comes along and yells at him. when gaston acts out, on the other hand, the villagers are always genuinely amused, entertained, or excited and love gaston for the way he is. he’s the town hero. they admire him.
2. gaston only acts out for attention because he’s all alone in the world (probably). think about it: the prince is an orphan too (as far as we know), but he’s always had his servants and his castle. gaston only acts the way he does because it earns him the love and admiration of the villagers; otherwise he would have nobody who cared about him at all– not even lefou.
3. both gaston and the prince are narcissistic and selfish to an extent, but gaston is the least abusive of the two. when belle meets the beast, he imprisons her and is then constantly screaming, throwing furniture, demanding things of belle, withholding food, withholding contact with her father, etc. gaston is cocky, sure, but the worst he does is toss her book to the ground and try to seduce/marry her (both of which fail because he thinks he knows what belle wants but is wrong). he even actually reprimands lefou when belle is upset about her father being disrespected. (this is all prior to the ultimatum with maurice, the asylum, and marrying belle, which only happened because of the whole situation with the beast). given enough time together, like belle was forced to have with the beast, gaston could mature as well.
4. the prince has a serious anger problem. these types of problems don’t simply go away with ~*true love*~ but of course this is a fairytale where anything is possible. so the same could be argued for gaston’s narcissism and his manipulative ways, and i believe that gaston is just as likely to change for the better as the beast.
5. belle could be the one to teach gaston to have manners and respect women and that would be so awesome. he’s only acting in a way that is expected for the times, so can you really blame him? belle could educate gaston on the importance of books, teach him to read, and command his respect in a way he had never considered nor practiced before. he’s also very rude, while belle is polite to a fault; she could teach him manners and how to compliment people other than himself. she could be the one to show him that there are reasons to marry someone other than their looks. i think this is the dynamic that intrigues me the most; belle is not a pushover, and gaston could learn a thing or two.
6. gaston is the only villager who doesn’t insult belle. even when lefou tries to discourage gaston from his desire to marry her because of her oddness, gaston shuts him right up. and although he doesn’t understand the point of books without pictures, he still never calls her strange or changes his mind about wanting to marry her, despite the opinion of the townsfolk.
7. belle wants adventure in the great, wide somewhere. who better to take her than gaston, the hunter and outdoorsman? so far belle’s great adventures consist of: one (1) trip to a magic castle a few kilometers from her own house. woo. (granted, it was an enchanted castle, but i digress).
8. gaston is more attractive than adam. look. at. those. muscles. the dark hair. the blue eyes. the chiseled jaw. the hairy chest. i mean, like, come on. come on.
Tumblr media
as much as i argue for my case here, i don’t hate belle and adam. they’re sweet together, and beauty and the beast is a wonderful love story with gaston as the perfect villain. i just like exploring belle and gaston together in fanfiction because it’s more interesting than the tired trope of the peasant girl becoming a princess and living happily ever after that way.
i feel like i’m probably going to get a lot of hate for this so i’m going to go hide now~

Also, wasn't Luke the one in charge of Cabin 11 and a caretaker for unclaimed children? If anyone deserves to be selfish,it's Luke. He just did it the wrong way.
I'm not gonna pretend Luke's cause was righteous or for the greater good
but it's kinda annoying how people seem to dislike the fact that Luke hates the gods for personal selfish reasons instead of hating them for Thalia's or Annabeth's or anyone else's sake.
Luke is allowed to be mad at Hermes neglecting him. He's allowed to be mad about the circumstances he was forced to grow up in. He's allowed to fight for himself and the trauma he endured.
I don't see how Luke hating Hermes and the Olympians for selfish reasons is worse morally (this isn't about Luke's actions that's a different story, we're just talking about feelings) than Percy or Will looking past all the horrible shit their dads have done and all the pain Poseidon and Apollo have caused other innocent people just because they themselves are treated well by their dads.
No shit people are selfish and have personal grudges. It's fine if Luke's a little shit who only cares about his own pain.
He gave his body to Kronos of all gods after all, who I'm sure Luke knows is a cannibal that ate his own kids, but it's valid that he wanted revenge against the lesser evil that is Hermes (just not the way he went about it).
But yeah, Luke is a selfish petty bastard who cared about himself (until he changed his mind and died for the greater good at the end) and I love him anyways.

Tumblr media
The unchecked female drive to actively search out and attain the position of 'victim' for financial gain, support and popularity has increasingly worsened all aspects of western society over the past few decades, by, amongst other things, removing all basic and necessary moral values and replacing them with a class-based political ideology telling everyone they are part of an oppressed group at war with all others. The damage this has done to trust, goodness and community is incalculable.
Which might seem a rather heavy commentary to add to such a routine 'celebrity' tabloid post, but that's ultimately what is actually occurring here.

Wow.  Just wow.  This woman suffered unspeakable torture because you betrayed her location.  Her life and her mind were destroyed.  She was made to attack her former allies.  There’s a mask permanently embedded into her skin.  And you can’t even say that you’re sorry to her and mean it?
You are not a hero.

being in a fandom with leftists is such an experience.
Character: gets thrown into a gulag because his dad was executed for being a counter revolutionary and likely Hates communism
' this is how he can still he a communist supporter!'
Not to mention the obsession with turning everyone gay/ trans/ gender fluid etc and having to check if that fan art has the characters with top surgery scars/ etc.
Dude I had to step out of the fandom scene before even really getting into it because of stuff like that. Everyone just wants to twist stories to fit into their own personal political or social preferences instead of analyzing it for what it is or what it says.
You can’t learn to understand things when you don’t look at them for what they are and instead just try to read your own preferences into them.
And everyone having to be somewhere on the lgbt spectrum is a whole other problem on its own. Leftists need to understand that people aren’t there to see the gay version of their favorite characters. Fandoms, especially online, can be such toxic environments.

Do you guys remember how kidnap fantasies were popular on wattpad because young girls and queer teens were both made to feel shame at the thought of their own sexualities, so the fantasy of being kidnapped totally against their will was a way for them to engage with a romantic or sexual fantasy without feeling morally in the wrong for doing so? Added bonus that the fantasy involved being whisked away from repressive environments like home or school, right?
Finding out that Bram Stoker was in a sexless marriage and that scholars believe that he very likely was closeted gay puts the entire book into perspective as to WHY it reads EXACTLY like a self insert wattpad Dracula kidnap fic:
“I TOTALLY love my wife and would never do anything that an upstanding Good Straight Working Man wouldn’t do but oh nooo, big strong man with broad back and strong enough arms to carry me back to bed like a princess trapped me and claimed me as his, completely against my will 👉👈 But he protects me against the bad evil sexual women (who I assure you, I am TOTALLY sexually attracted to, as any straight man with a choice would be) but trust me, I do NOT want ANY of this. What’s that? The Count is not capable of feeling love? Would be a shame if I had the special ability to change tha-”
