Well, I have been too lazy to update lately 🙈.

So, just a short summery:

Work:

I‘ll probably switch to a doctors office nearby next year. HR has to do add the last details to the contract. I‘m proud of myself as I demanded some changes from what they proposed. And they followed through with almost all of them. If things go as planed I‘ll walk to work from next year onward 😊. I have a 40min commute right now. That’s the biggest reason to switch. And it weighs more then my avoidance of change 🙈. Because I dread that part. Also it‘ll be an adjustment to work as a doctor in the town I live (meaning to randomly meet patients when I‘m in town).

Kiddo:

Is really whiny/dramatic at the moment and I can’t figure out why/what to do about it. Try to keep calm and hang in there 🤷‍♀️.

When he‘s not whiny he‘s a lot of fun and it’s great to see how he‘s getting more independent. He‘s still really into soccer. Creates a great bond between him and hubby.

Other stuff:

We‘ll go on a Cruise in August. Hope it‘ll be as much fun as the last one :).

We will be able to share a garden allotment with a friend from September on. It’s in walking distance to our flat and I‘m really happy and excited about this opportunity!

Had a Renaissance Festival in our town last weekend. It was really fun and the weather was great. See foto dump 😉.

Kiddo was disappointed that he didn’t speak a word of English at his first appearance as pope 😁.

I‘m not catholic. But hubby and kiddo are.

The managed to elect Friedrich Merz for new chancellor of Germany with the second vote. Not happy about him, but I hope the coalition will work and manage to find a way to politics that will improve people’s lives while respecting human rights and protecting the environment (I know that‘s a difficult job).

Didn’t have much time to read/listen to audio books the last two months. Especially enjoyed the Irish accents of ‚Normal people‘.

I have an ear infection 🫣. It doesn’t really hurt and I mainly have a pressure and muffled hearing in the left ear. So I was happy to hear that it’s just an infection and not a real sudden hearing loss. Also explains why I‘m soooo tired. The ENT was baffled that I didn’t complain about pain and immediately prescribed antibiotics. Hoping they work fast as we have some plans for the weekend and it would be great if I could enjoy them…

Also I know that if I don’t get the flat in order it will be utter chaos…hubby complained that I went to work sick but I either have to push him to do chores or I have to do them myself. He has a so much higher tolerance to the chaos. I sometimes envy that.

I rushed through the Stacia Stark books a I thought my American library card would expire end of Febuary (and they are not available via my German Library). The card still works on Libby and now I have no idea for how long 🤷‍♀️. Going to enjoy it as long as it lasts. But I‘ll try not to start another series that’s only available on this card…

Just watched the video of Vance/Trump/Selensky in the Oval Office. It‘s crazy on so many levels…

Apart from the obvious:

Vance just said the Germans should vote for the AfD (who have a lot of Nazis in their ranks) and now he attacks Selensky that he‘d campaigned for the Democrats (and I‘m sure there would have been press coverage if Selensky had said ‚vote for Harris‘)

I‘ve read Trump mocked Selensky for his accent (by imitating it)- is that true (I didn’t catch that but I‘m not a native speaker)???? With which non-English speaking head of government could you have a discussion in their language Mr. President…

Aaaaaargh🫣

The only hope is that Trump forgets about this next week and tells everyone ‚I don’t think I said this‘

Why has my Kiddo to grow up in a world that turns craz like that…

One week in:

We‘re definitely improving (me being more consistent and patient, kiddo asking more nicely if he wants sth). But not when one of us is tired or hungry 😆. I‘ll keep on trying. And I‘ll focus another week on this aspect and also figure out on what to work next….

Kiddo is so bossy and whiny at the moment 🫣. Not all the time but more than is explained by hunger/tiredness. Still listening to the ‚parenting beyond discipline‘ podcast and I decided I‘ll try to coach him better ways. Let’s see if I‘m strict enough (and patient enough so I don‘t get too bossy - let’s be honest part of it is a mirror to how I behave when we‘re running late in the mornings…). I want to focus for a week on a different aspect. This week will be ‚asking for stuff‘ in a respectful way. Decided to document here so I don’t opt out when it gets exhausting 😬.

I always think about posting, but then I‘m too lazy to type 😆.

Found a way to use Libby with a German library…but they don’t have many of the books I want to listen too (I prefer English audiobooks at the moment). Has anyone experience with bookbeat or something similar? Thinking about using both. We have audible but I usually use it for the kiddo. He listens to stuff many times (still obsessed with magic tree house). I usually listen to an audiobook only once so there’s no need to keep it…

I think @mommamoose mentioned Spotify as an option for audiobooks. Does it have a good selection?

It‘s carnival season here and kiddo picked a Harry Potter costume. It‘s so cute :). I like carnival…but I‘d still prefer it it was springtime already (it’s so much fog this time of the year and I miss the sun ☀️).

Liked Queen of nothing best. But enjoyed all of them.

Four is quite good for me. My US library card will expire soon. Have to figure out how to use the Libby App after that…
