Karma

They say karma is doing good things and receiving good things from the universe. But I’ve learned karma is fiction—a lie. You can do your best for yourself and everyone around you. You can keep trying, keep going, and keep doing what will make others happy. And yet the universe will not reward you. Sometimes it even continuously drops the worst scenarios upon you with a smile as if you should appreciate it. Sometimes it loads you with all of these terrible things at once.

I’m trying to appreciate. I’m trying to keep doing the best. I remind myself that doing what is right and what is good should never be bundled with the expectation of a positive payback. Because that is what karma should be.

You keep doing the best for everyone and at the end of the day, even when you are alone and tired, and sad, and wanting to give up...you keep going. For the best.
