Last Line Written/W.I.P Wednesday

Well, it's Wednesday somewhere, isn't it? I was tagged by @the-arcane-archivist. Thank you so much for the tag!

Disclaimer, since this work will probably never get published in any shape or form, I censored the name of the female character - it's just silly me keeping a DAx?? crossover I have in progress under wraps. (Currently it sits on 24k words). Why, you may ask? Well, insecurity is as good of a reason as any.

[blank] was on the window seat, staring up to the moons, their radiance lighting up her pale face; grim apprehension steadfastly back in place, her jaw locked as if she wanted to keep everything inside. She was almost an apparition, brooding and baleful and beautiful in a way he had never witnessed before. The tunic she was wearing - one of Cullen’s - was not long enough to cover her in her entirety, her feet were bare barring the woolen socks. He glimpsed at the exposed skin, drinking in the delicate curves of her calves and the subtle muscles underneath the layer of ivory skin. 

If she paid any attention to him, she never showed it. He had procured a couple more pillows and a blanket and had laid them on the floor, from where he watched her. They had snuffed out all the candles except one, and the room was mostly bathed with the silvery pale moonlight. After what felt like hours of silence, she spoke. “Are you sure you don’t want me to sleep on the floor? I don’t mind, I’m used to less-than-ideal conditions.”

“As am I,” he said with a finality that bore no argument and laid down to drive his point home. [blank] chuckled and turned away from him, hiding her smile. His heart leapt at the sight of her, at the rare but freely-given smiles she was saving just for him, here in the darkness of his room.
