(this is very much a dillema because this style seem hard to make it correct when I try to render it out. Maybe it's a problem with stylization? I should try a different approach next time) (now that I look back I genuinely think I should stick to this version and I love this ver. of mai the most)

this was an attempt to capture the facial structure in rendering style but it ended up look very different. There's something weird going on and i don't 100% like it.

May i ask if you have your process posted/explained anywhere? Cause id love to learn how to draw a bit more like you, the way you render, or the way you make handsome men in detailed clothing

I don’t have a single set process that I follow every time, so I’ve never really posted an explanation before. It changes depending on what I want to focus on - sometimes it's the face or costume, other times it's more about a mood. So for one piece I might start with line sketch, other times I block in shapes or mix both, for another I might use Blender, photos, and then combine it with painting so it really depends!

That said, since I am usually quite loose and a little chaotic in these fanarts I can explain how I "cheat" the look a little bit and make things look more detailed than they actually are.

For clothing, I usually heavily rely on abstract shape/noise rather than paint out everything. For example:

If you zoom in those "details" are just very loose textural indications that gives the *impression* of a certain material or design. But it reads like "something" because they all had hard edges and a simple but clear value scheme (usually black/medium grey). These clothings are more about shape designs than rendering. Tbh I rarely draw out every little thing unless it's absolutely needed (and from there if I want to render further I'd go in and define them according to their material and lighting, though usually I use blender/photos to help make the process faster).

Another example! If I turn this face into a 2-value scheme and overlay a randome texture onto it you can still read it as a face, because the basic structure is there and is intact. That's how those "details" work!

green channel seems better than color actually (like i know the value structure is fine but color is too hard and too much orange hurts my eyes)
