I'm not sure if Sam would even want to go or if it'd even be a good idea but I just want to do a bit of planning so it's not rushed. And either way, I can go without him and spend some time at home.
Awww, that’s adorable.

I'm just thinking of maybe planning a trip back home and seeing if my boyfriend would want to tag along. Meet my dad since I met and stayed with his family last break.
Big plans?

Are you suggesting I'd do something as ghastly as take advantage of the blissfully perfect opportunity to gaze upon my boyfriend in a soaking wet white T-shirt when I'm not afforded very many opportunities to do so? I'm appalled at the accusa--you should take it off. You know, before you catch your death.
Not a word you, and I’ll pretend I don’t know you’re checking me out

If Ella's mind hadn't been in twelve different places at once, it probably would have clicked how much easier it would have been to wear Sam's jacket but her mind was more bouncy than Kinsley ever was--and Merlin, that girl never held still. She also hadn't had a destination in mind when she'd suggested the walk and realized belatedly she probably should have. However, the fact that she was nearly completely unfamiliar with the area earned Sam a shrug in response as they slipped outside and Ella huddled closer to him, already feeling the slight chill. "I don't know, anywhere we can be alone." She admitted, her hand finding his as she prepared to soak up as much of his time, just the two of them, as she possibly could with this being nearly their last night before returning to to the castle and her to Hogsmeade. "Why don't you just...show me how beautiful Scotland is?" She suggested, glancing up at him as they began to walk a bit. "Anywhere you want to take me, I'll gladly go. I just wanted...I wanted us to get a chance to be together before it gets hard again." Ella confessed almost a bit shyly.

"Well, I could wear another jacket? Sam frowned, not exactly seeing the problem here, he did own more than one jacket. And wasn’t that one of those cliches? He should offer her his jacket to stop her being cold? In the end he just gave up, and let himself be tugged out of the living room and through to the kitchen, keeping his eyes down as he could feel his family watching him, and feel the blush spreading on his cheeks. He opened his mouth to make a suggestion about where they could perhaps walk, only to find himself being silenced as Ella tip-toed up and pulled him down, capturing his lips in a kiss before he had time to react. After the initial surprise, a swoop of warmth sank from his lips and settled somewhere in his stomach, and Sam stooped a little to make it easier as she kept kissing him, leaving him a little dazed and confused. It took a few seconds, but his mind slowly clunked back to life, and the teenager grabbed his boots from the door and started lacing them up, by the time she was back, he’d barely finished, and stood up straight again. "Right, yeah…um, where d’you want to go?" He asked, not really sure what the plan was - after all it was her idea to go, but his home town. Sam reached behind the door

Ella smiled when he agreed, turning her face to press a kiss onto his collarbone through his shirt before bouncing up eagerly and stretching--nearly kicking Kinsley in the progress who had found a perfect spot half in between her two favorite people and her current other interesting person. Poor Graham. "But what will you wear? I can always go get mine upstairs, I'd rather the trek up the stairs than you be cold. Plus, I need my shoes" She reasoned out wiggling her socked feet, accidentally nailing Kins in the back of the head when she saw her head turns toward both Sam's mother and cousin, not even needing to see her best friend's face to see the look on it. The idea struck her she could just as easily Accio her jacket to herself and nearly did before remembering that Mattie was in the room and while she knew he knew about Sam and magic, she didn't feel right doing it in front of him, just in case. Plus, her wand was tucked away in her things upstairs and able to or not, she wasn't up for wandless magic. Reaching Sam, Ella quickly captured one of his hands, a tease that she'd have him back sometime before his next birthday tossed over her shoulder to his mother with a laughing grin before she tugged him out of the room with her. Alone in the kitchen on their way though, she stopped and took a moment to move in front of him and move in close, a hand placed on either side of his neck before taking a few slow kisses from him. Pressing a few quicker hard ones, she smiled against his lips. "I'll be back." Away from him, she darted up the stairs to his room that her and Kins were sharing, finding her shoes and her jacket near her stuff and donning them both. Racing back downstairs--really, did anyone think she enjoys being away from Sam in their dwindling away from school and work alone time?--she met back up with him, a smile on her face. "Alone time, let's do this!"

Sam was glad that all of the fuss was finally done. The family and his pair of lunatics had settled down again, he small handful of presents he’d receive unwrapped, and the letter lying forgotten on the bookshelf where his mother had put it. He was reading absent mindedly from one of the books Graham had bought him - apparently it was the sequel to The Hobbit, a book which Sam had always loved. There was a film playing on the television, but he was ignoring it, barely aware of anything, even the warm presence buried in his side. “Hmm?” He looked up and round at her voice. The rest of the family pretended obediently to not be able to hear. “A walk?” He looked up at the window, checking the weather. “Yeah I don’t see why not,” he smiled. He liked going for walks in the evening, it relaxed his mind, and helped him feel at home when he was here. “You’ll have to wrap up warm though, you can borrow my jacket,” he commented, standing up, thinking purely practically. It would be cold outside, and would get even colder the second the sun set. He folded the page on his book, setting it down on the coffee table as he turned to leave the room, stopping to beckon to her with his head, catching a sly look being exchanged between Graham and Kins and his mother

The sound of the racing feet down the stairs and the sliding padding sound provided by Hammy coming from the other direction, let Ella know that her alone time with Sam was over. Leaning in, she pressed a small kiss to his lips just seconds before his brother and cousin entered the room, giving him a soft smile afterwards. She craved time to be alone with Sam and not have to worry about anything but him and her but--since it was his birthday and they were his family after all, she supposed she could share...just this once. Laughing as Hammy came sliding through and slid past everyone before turning and bounding back towards the group, clamoring for attention. "C'mere you, rascal." She called out as she slid from her spot on the table and knelt down to scratch behind his ears. She'd caught Graham looking at her and Sam and felt a slight blush on her face but really, it'd been innocent for the most part and Ella found herself slowly becoming more comfortable around his family and not worrying so much about what they thought of her. Standing up, she reached over and ruffled Mattie's hair before looking to the two older boys. "I'm gonna...go get showered and dressed for the day before I freeze." She mumbled before making her way back upstairs to get ready and rouse Kins.

Hours--many many hours--later and Ella was once more slightly attached to Sam, this time sitting curled to his side on the couch, her arm tucked over him and her feet tucked underneath herself. Most of the day was complete, his birthday celebrated, a fuss made and dinner eaten. The sun was slowly starting to sink and everyone was winding down a bit after a day that Ella hoped had been fun for Sam, the girl remembering how much he hadn't wanted a fuss earlier in the morning. "Sammy?" She called out softly, lifting her head from where it rested on his shoulder to peek up at him. "Do you want to go for a walk for me? Not far just...me and you?" Ella asked, feeling as if she didn't need to vocalize her wish to have a bit of alone time with him again before the day was completely done. They didn't have much longer before they needed to be headed back and Ella didn't want to waste what little time they had left. Plus...she had something to tell him.

"The problem with that is that you make the punishment for being too big for my skin sound like it’s supposed to be a treat, and that’s just sending mixed messages," he teased back, before smiling softly and shrugging. "She just doesn’t want anything inaproppriate happening in the house and scarring her or Matt for life." He knew his mother’s reasons. And in a way he was almost grateful. He didn’t feel right being back in his old bedroom in the house, and it felt especially weird having other people there. He didn’t want Ella having to watch him as he silently panicked in nightmares. At least down here Hammy would just nudge him awake and then flop on top of him. "Well I just. um…sorry.." he tore his eyes away from the view of her cleavage, swallowing guiltily, his cheeks flushed with colour, "Couldn’t…help..that’s entrapment you know?" He tried to change the conversation desperately, thinking how deeply unfair it was that she got to use tricks like that to reduce him to a stuttering idiot every time he actually thought he was adjusting to the changes in their relationship. He breathed deeply, having to close his eyes as she spoke reassuring words that didn’t quite reach the guilt in his stomach, but soothed some of his unease. "Thank you," was all he could work out how to say, giving her leg a grateful squeeze. Feet thundered down the stairs, which set Hammy off, a rush of paws and feet scrambling for the kitchen in search of the birthday boy. "SAMMY SAMMY SAMMY!" came the combined voices of Matt and Graham who came skidding to a halt as they arrived in the kitchen. "Heeey birthday boy," Graham grinned, looking at the couple entwined against the worktop. "Your mum told us to ask what you want for breakfast? Full fry up or pancakes?" Sam cast an apologetic look at Ella, backing off a few steps. "Umm..pancakes?"

"Sam," Ella's voice was almost a coo with how soft it was as she reached out and cupped one of his cheeks in her hand. "I do know, I was only teasing. Trust me, I'm well aware that you care for me in return." She stressed the fact that there was no longer any doubt that Sam liked her back as much as she could, her thumb rubbing along the curve of the side of his face, down to his jawline and back up as she offered him a smile. "He'll just have to wait and find out, won't he?" Ella teased back in response to his questioning of what would happen, the smile on her face only growing as she let out a laugh as she added on, "Even though I'm sure the cub's actual mama won't let him be trapped alone in any room, especially one that contains a bed, with the lioness if she can help it."
"Ah, there's the fumbling, stumbling Sam McCloud I know and lo-like." She quickly amended herself, her attempt at teasing him for his flustered response nearly taking a slight turn even if what she'd bee nabout to say was a well known phrase--she knew Sam well enough that he'd take her practically...which was how she meant itreally. She did love Sam. But she wasn't sure she was ready to tell him that in full context quite yet. Or maybe she was just afraid of how he'd react if she did. "Shhhhh." Ella whispered, a finger skimming lightly over his lips before resting there for a moment as she spoke. "We'll be okay, Sam. We just have to finish out this year and then you'll be out of the castle. Even if you do attend the university, you'll still be free to come and go as you please and not be stuck cooped up there any longer." Pausing, she let her finger fall away, her hands falling to rest against his on her legs before she leaned in and rested her forehead against his. "And you'll always have a place in Hogsmeade with me, I hope you know that."
December 24th || McCloud Household
Sam frowned slightly, looking at the older girl with a serious expression, a slightly wounded look in his eyes. “You know I do Ella, don’t… don’t doubt that,” he spoke softly. He knew he was difficult, he knew he was bad at expressing himself and at feeling anything. But he didn’t want her to not know how he felt. He might be bad at saying it, but he cared about her in a way he’d cared for nobody else. “Alright,” he sighed, trying to push the letter to the back of his mind, even if he didn’t achieve it, he tried instead to focus on Ella. “So what happens to naughty cubs then? What does the Ella Lioness do to them?” he tried too distract himself, bringing a slight hint of playfulness into his voice. “Especially if he gets trapped in a room with her for the night,” he added, a glint in his eyes, but he laughed it off. “I think if we left Kins and Hammy unsupervised my mother would never forgive us for ruining the house, even if she let us in the first place.” Her words goaded his attention downwards, and his breath caught for a second. The view down the front of his old t-shirt froe him for a second. “Umm..I’m..pretty….sure,” he fumbled, mouth suddenly dry, “I think youre ok,” he gulped again, his hands stilling on her legs. He looked up, blue eyes a little startled. He felt suddenly nervous at the idea of alone time with Ella, and just what she had meant by that. “Uuh. I think you’re right,” he nodded. “I mean, we’ll be back to just weekends soon,” the Scotsman added reluctantly, knowing the pressures of school would keep them apart more often than not. “I know I’ve been too busy to..be there for you like I should. I’m…I’m sorry.” He knew they’d had this conversation before, but that had been earlier, before he’d continuously let her down by always being so busy. He was always so busy with his work. That always came first, but now it came with the added guilt of knowing it all added up to time he was too busy to see her. He felt like he was letting her down, every time, no matter how much he reasoned it.
