And an adventure wouldn’t feel complete without my lil buddy. She was obviously in her element

I had an amazing opening day at my summer weekend market! It was gorgeous out, I completely sold out. I got to see old friends and made some good trades. ☀️🌱

Pausing for a moment for a deep breath. Often I want and yearn and hope for so much all at once, I beat myself up for not working harder or being more “successful” more capable, more lovable…not strong enough..but I do this without recognizing how many dreams of mine have already come true. How much hard work has already paid off. How I’m already giving my kids a life better than mine was. Nothing is certain in this time and fuck if I’m not proud of where I’m at in my life and what I’ve accomplished.

I was pleasantly surprised opening up that mystery letter bundle. My daughter and I went through everything in it and discovered more and more about this young man and a lot more about the war and life in the 1940s. It makes my heart hurt to see how well he was loved and how intentional all this had been set aside only to end up at an estate sale from lack of generations. I’m grateful I got to take it all home.
-This is Victor Winkle, he served in the Fourth United States Army from 1941 until his untimely death in Austria, 1945. He grew up in Minnesota and married his wife, Ella (Stephenson) Winkle in 1944 while he was on furlough and was shortly after reunited with his infantry. He was honored with a Purple Heart after his death. He was beloved and had many friends as well as 3 brothers and 5 sisters.

Estate sale morning 🥰 spent way too much time digging through treasures and old literature and in the coolest old house. The woman was clearly queer and a badass collector of all things socialism and revolutionary and had saved things from the 50s and up. The energy in that place sent chills through my body. I found a very relevant newspaper from 88 and an old bundle of letters and pictures I can’t wait to dig through as well as a gorgeous hand made quilt for 7$ 🥲I found some of her original art and did not post it but feel really good about owning such a personal piece of this woman. I think I’ll be thinking about her for some time. Estate sales are so fun for me but I can get caught up in trying to know the person, so much energy can be attached to belongings it’s a very strange feeling.
