I love all the ships we have in the show that aren’t “canon” but like lowkey could be canon with lots of context clues but let’s not forget that it’s possible to love your friends without feeling any connection to dating them. You can think they’re beautiful, strong, wonderful, the most important person in your life, but that doesn’t mean there’s something more than friendship. And that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Friendship I think can be a far stronger bond than any other in the world.

Early foreshadowing to Emily’s past: Part 2

How different are we? Emily is always the one questioning sanity on the jet ride home. To the rest of the team, the answer may be simple. ‘Of course we’re different than the people we catch, how can you not see that?’ For them that may be a fact, but Prentiss has been on the other side before. We’ve also seen the boundaries she’ll push to protect her family. Emily constantly has to remind herself that she isn’t the same as the criminal she pretended to be, but is that really true? You’ve never been in love, have you? Prentiss’ perplexed expression tells a lot. Has she ever been in love? Well Doyle was just a mark, someone she was supposed to manipulate. But if Em is being brutally honest with herself, it might have been something much more. And as she’s talking to a woman in love with a dangerous man, all she can think is “Honey, if you only knew…” I don’t know how the paperwork got screwed up. Sure you don’t. Prentiss is visibly confused at the situation, and really has every reason to be (although it would have been easier to handle if Hotch and Gideon didn’t act like mega assholes). Emily came straight out of the CIA, one of the top organizations in the country, and they can’t even get simple paperwork correct? She was so gonna kick Clyde’s ass for causing her to make a bad impression on her new bosses.

Early foreshadowing to Emily’s past: Part 1

You. Kids. I can see it. When Prentiss gazes out the window, there’s a slight smile tugging at the corners of her mouth, but you can also see tears in her eyes. You know she was thinking about Declan, about what she had to do to save his life. Every case involving children touches a nerve, but JJ’s comment caused a flood of bittersweet emotions. Emily is not one to break down easily by any means, but thinking about either of the Doyles hits her. Hard. Getting Intimate with a killer is… so different. Prentiss is visibly shaken after dealing with The Fox. Yes, flirting with a murderer is never fun, but that’s not why she’s so agitated. Having to toy with a psychopath’s emotions is a very familiar experience, and i’m guessing it brought back painful memories of Ian Doyle. Emily is also the goto agent for undercover work and schmoozing with suspected unsubs. I guess we now know why she’s so damn good at it. You came off a desk job. Right. ’“Desk Job”. Both Hotch and JJ are rightfully suspicious about how an inexperienced field agent, whose never even seen blood before, is an expert at dealing with it. Emily is also extremely flustered and it takes her awhile to think of a semi-convincing answer. This marks one of the first times she’s had to lie to her new team (and it definitely won’t be the last). She’ll get better at it over time.
