hello!
this blog has been getting a few stray likes here and there so I'd like to make this post for any new viewers to provide some context even though this blog isn't super active anymore
this blog was originally a channel in a private discord server with me and a few friends, but this was before there was an easy way to imbed links in discord so it was hard to upkeep and we moved to a Tumblr blog for easier viewing and organization.
since it was intended mostly for friends who I was trying to get into sky at the time, some of the advice on this blog doesn't apply to all players. such as seeking help for wasteland, since many players prefer to do that alone! as well as some of the sky etiquette being mostly things among my circles and not all sky players. and since this has not been updated in a while, I'm sure things are a little outdated. I know we don't have any guides on event tickets for example.
I unfortunately probably won't be making any further guides on this blog as the original people I made this for are no longer moths, and very few external moths have found this blog (maybe 2?)
however!! I am still very happy to help and anyone is free to shoot this blog an ask if you're stuck or confused about something in game! it makes me very happy to have this blog receive an occasional ask, so please do :]

Do seasonal areas count towards getting a stage 100% completed? Like, do I have to complete the Valley of Dreams to 100% the Valley of Triumph? Because I just tripped across the elemental trials and managed to scrape through the first three, but I just can't finish the Trial of Fire - I don't have strong enough mental mapping and imagery skills when combined with the random eye things sending me back to checkpoints. :(
either way no, seasonal areas are just side things that aren't at all required for the main game. the main reason you'd still do them is for hearts
if you're referring to these constellation percentages:
Tumblr media
then only buying things from the base game spirits (the ones you access in the constellation) will contribute towards your percentage
you have to buy everything from a constellation EXCEPT the level 2 capes to 100% it. lvl 2 capes don't count towards the percentage either

I’m trying to be nicer to moths. I was never mean, I just never helped them.. do you have any tips on being a guide for the moths?
Mothy Tech Support here to answer your question!
The Moth understands that liking moths isn’t everyone’s candle cake. But if you really feel the dedication to guide moths, patience is key! A lot of new moths are fresh to the game and don’t understand candle grinding like us experienced players do. Instead, let them collect spirits, and with them, candles. That will cause them to seek out more spirits and learn more about the story than immediately getting them fixated on currency.
Additionally, let the moths wander if they want. Except in Golden Wasteland. That’s a bad idea. (If they insist on running around the Graveyard, let them until they eventually get spotted and close out the game in fear. It’s survival of the fittest, after all. May the Moths be ever in your favor.)
But for the most part, let them feel out the landscapes for themselves if they are the adventurous type. Some may even insist on leading you! (Or they can’t figure out how the hand-holding mechanics work). You can give helpful hints and just join for the ride.
Some moths will do fine with only some light guiding. Others may want to spend more time learning from you. If you get a chance, ask them where their destination is at a bench or a table. There are many activities you can do with moths. Take them to an oob! Introduce them to grandma! Dress them up with spells! The possibilities are endless.
On the other hand, if you meet a moth in Eden, you can lead them up the normal way or take them through a shortcut. But setting a good example by showing them how to hide from krill and dodge rocks will help the player more in the long run.
No one has to heed any of these tips. It really depends on the moth and you! You could be the difference between a new sky player quitting or staying.
Let’s do our best to nurture our community. Because without it, Sky wouldn’t be half the game it is today.

PLEASE IF YOU"RE ON TUMBLR HMU I NEED TO THANK YOU IN PERSON BECAUSE YOU DID THAT ALL FOR ME
All the times I got hit in the head with a rock and you relit me, all the times you helped me collect my lost Wing Lights, all the kind honks you honked at me, I just--

Shard events: Beginner's guide
So since Shard events are going to be a thing even after the season is over as a way to get ascended candles much more easily, I made a guide for new players and those who still struggle with Shard events.
So without further ado, let's begin:
What are shard events?
Shard events are events that happen every 2 hours in a certain realm, usually the realm that has quests that day. Basically, the mountain explodes and sends down dark crystals and your objective is to burn all the plants that surround these crystals. After burning the plants and reliving the ancient spirit, you can teleport to an ancient memory that has a winged light waiting for you.
The events came along with Season of shattering as TGC's effort to make ascended candles much more easy to gain as well as making Eden a much more emotional experience.
However, they are still a difficult to complete and if you go in blind, you might find it hard to complete them.
Different Shard events
There are two different types of shard events: Regular shard events and Candle shard events.
Regular shard events are shard events that give you ascended candles and an ancient memory once completed. The crystals are red and crabs spawn once they have landed in the realm. Upon completing this event, you will receive 2-4 ascended candles and the season of shattering guide will offer a meditation spot to teleport to an ancient memory. These events are the most difficult to complete, and the one that this guide will be discussing the most about.
Candle shard events are different and much more easier than regular events. The crystals in this event are black and usually harmless and require you to only burn the plants. Crabs also don't spawn in this event. However, when you complete this event, you get 3-4 regular candles (depending on your chevron meter) and no ancient memory.
How to survive a regular shard event: Tips and tricks
Now regular shard events are the most difficult and if you're going to do one without friends, it's going to be hell. However, as a solo player I have managed to master these events without losing all my winged light. I created methods and cautions while figuring out in these shard events. I will be discussing them seperately.
Crabs
Crabs in these events are the biggest threat that you will face during these events. There will be regular crabs that you can easily handle by deepcalling, but there will be crabs that have red crystals growing on their back that are immune to your deepcalls
To avoid them, use these tips
Don't deepcall when you're burning plants. You will likely attract the crabs and they will bonk you straight into the crystals or far away from the plants. Use your deepcalls to lure the crabs away from the crystals. They don't go back to where they wondered.
Be careful where you place your light props. Crabs will break them down and the cool down to place another one will take longer.
Use memory candles to distract crabs. Some lovely players have placed memory candles to distract crabs using deepcalls. Use them to your advantage and wisely, as you need to light them again when they're finish.
Crabs eat winged light to btw. You'll have to pray that your winged light doesn't bounce towards a crab and they decide its snack time.
Fire/light props and recharge spells
Fire and light props are going to be your life saver in these events. Place them far away from crabs so that they don't destroy them. When a crab bonks you away from the crystals, use it as an opportunity to recharge your light.
When you are depleted of all light and are crawling around the ground, open the spell menu and you will find that the recharge spells you collected from spirits can be used. You can buy some from the ark for 5 candkes too, but only a certain amount a day.
Other tips
Move around as much as you can so that a crab won't catch you off guard.
Only deepcall to recharge a friend once you're away from crabs. If you're relatively close to crabs, just use a fire prop or stand close to them to recharge them.
When the spirit requires you to fly around, try to fly as high as you can if you near red crystals.
The wiki has the areas mark where the shard events are located. I'm pretty dumb at finding them, but usually the regular shard events occur in side areas that need a certain amount of spirits to enter.

What are seasonal spirits?
Seasonal spirits are extra spirits that come alongside season events (ex. Season of Dreams, Season of Flight, etc). They can most often be found in the season's area (ex. Village of Dreams, the Wind Paths, etc).
For the duration of the season you can buy cosmetics, items and emotes from the season's spirits for seasonal candles which can be obtained through doing daily quests and can found in the map the daily quests are in.
Once a season is over you can still relive seasonal spirits and get their level 1 emotes, calls or stances. However, you cannot buy from these spirits.
Unless they come back as a travelling spirit, in which case you can buy their items at a higher price for regular candles. A random seasonal spirit comes back as a travelling spirit every two weeks!
✧----
Where can Seasonal Spirits be found?
Seasonal spirits are only visible to players who have completed The Eye of Eden. If you haven't completed Eden you can still relive these spirits but you will need someone who has completed Eden to start them for you.
Seasonal spirits can be found all around. You search for them to relive their memories just like regular spirits! However if you don't want to look for them there are guides that can help you get them all!
I put some below :)
✧----
Spirits: Season of Gratitude - Season of Assembly
youtube
✧----
Spirits: Season of the Little Prince - Season of Performance
youtube
✧----
If you're wondering where Season of Shattering is, Season of Shattering doesn't have any spirits! It is the first and only season so far to not bring any seasonal spirits.
✧----
I hope you found this guide helpful! If you have any questions feel free to ask

My favorite thing in sky is how any 'experienced' player will see a small, brown caped skykid with 1-3 wedges, one of the first 3 hairs and just go: moth, moffie, babie, a child
Meanwhile, the moth in question is a fully grown person trying to be serious and playing the game the best they can while everyone around them cooes ab how cute they are

wax events : timing and duration
Wax events are events that occur in specific areas in specific realms and timings, each event gives a specific amount of wax, and each have a limit to the amount of wax they give.
*Each of these happen every 2 hours!
(assmuning reset is at 00:00)
geyser : windy phase starts at reset whilst the phase u get wax in starts 5 mins after reset ! it ends after 10 mins
Location : sanctuary islands, to the right
00:00 - 00:05 , 00:05 - 00: 15
(img taken from the sky infographics discord server by yash1352#8552)
Tumblr media
grandma: her event starts 15 mins after geyser! also lasting 15 mins , she prepares dinner for the first 5 mins and then u can get wax the remaining 10 mins!
00:30-00:35 ,00:35 - 00:45
(img taken from the sky infographics discord server by Skyzed#3436)
Tumblr media
turtle: this one lasts 10 minutes! and its 5 mins after grandma!
Location: sanctuary islands, on the small islands to the left you'll need to burn the plants on the turtle to get wax, then you'll find a shell you can flip to get more wax!
00:50- 1:00
─────⊱◈◈◈⊰─────
Notes about reset:
Sky does do daylight savings so if you're somewhere that doesn't do daylight savings reset time for you will shift an hour twice a year
Daily reset resets things like wax spots and daily quests
Weekly reset is on Sunday at the usual daily reset time, this resets things like eden
You also may here some people saying reset is on Monday
New events usually start on Mondays and some people call this reset
─────⊱◈◈◈⊰─────
Detailed wax count:
(img taken from the sky infographics discord server by Clement#8978)
Tumblr media
─────⊱◈◈◈⊰─────
Chevrons and candle running:
Chevrons are the arrows u see on your candle! They fade away as u collect wax and reset with each day on the daily reset with the wax!
They're bassically your skid's "energy" at first you collect wax quickly then you get tired and so u collect wax progressively slower
You start with three Chevrons
3 chevrons : u collect 5x the amount of wax you would get without arrows
2 chevrons: u collect 3x the amount of wax you would get without arrows
1 chevron :u collect x2 the amount of wax you would get without arrows
You loose a chevron after getting 5 candles! So you can get 15 candles with the three Chevrons
After you run out of Chevrons you'll have you can still collect wax and candles though it'll be difficult, until when your candle turns grey, it means you now get wax alot slower and have reached the daily wax limit

─────⊱◈◈◈⊰─────
Social light areas:
There are 5 social light areas in sky. They are pictured below. With the exception of the hot springs in the village of dreams they are all in the same wax pool as grandma.
These locations are designed so you can sit and chat with your friends while gaining wax idly. However many players decide to just afk here to gain wax instead.
There is an afk timer that makes afking slightly more difficult (after about 10 minutes of being afk you will stop collecting wax). You can easily solve this by either tapping your screen every 10 minutes, or bringing a sitting instrument and using it to negate the timer.
I would not recommend afking in these areas for a long time if your device is older or prone to overheating. It will damage to your device!!
(imgs taken from the sky infographics discord server by acidhues#3368)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Valley temple social space
There's one more social light area in valley and its the temple maze!
Head to the valley temple then head to the door on the left! You will need to have unlocked 1 spirit from wasteland!
Walk along the hallway and you will find yourself there!
Tumblr media
─────⊱◈◈◈⊰─────
Hope this helps various moths and sky players on their candle runs! Gl everyone!
(note: I'll make a guide on how to get to geyser and turtle soon, the img limit didn't help me here lol)

Tips for Eden!
For those who have gone through all the realms~
Here are some tips for you to keep in mind as to prepare to head into Eden! I hope this helps!
•••••••
Before heading into the Eye of Eden, you need at least 20 winged lights obtained. But for actually going through Eden and completing, we recommend at least 60+ winged lights!
•••••••
For all winged light locations, check out this video by Noob Mode! They are great at informing sky players!
youtube
•••••••
Also recommend having more experienced players to guide you through and help. You can easily ask anyone to lead you through. Being in a group of friends is best for Eden especially if it's your first time going in!
•••••••
A long-time player may also have a light source. Bringing light sources into Eden will help greatly especially if you get hit by rocks or shards.
It will be more efficient in keeping your light so that you last longer.
•••••••
Best to get a light source prop if a Traveling Spirit has one and you're financially stable to get it!
If not, don't worry. You can go through Eden without one, having a light source is just helpful.
•••••••
After opening the big Eye of Eden door, you have to climb a bunch of stairs and jump over rocks throughout the levels of Eden.
I recommend not being short or chibi. The stairs are chibiphobic in Eden :(
You can get resize spells from spirits' trees to change up your height.
•••••••
Well, it's possible to get through Eden chibi, but with the new update, it will be incredibly hard and dangerous.
•••••••
The winds are powerful in Eden, making it almost impossible to fly.
They slow you down, pushing you about.
It's best just to run through at the correct time.
•••••••
There will be rocks coming at you to knock you down. You have to wait for the rocks to completely go before you can run past them and then book it across!
•••••••
Do note that Eden also offers 11 wl(including orbit) for you to collect as extra.
•••••••
When you get to the second area of Eden, there will be Krills.
You can look online to find spots where krill won't get you, and shortcuts to take if you want.
Youtube is a valuable source just like the Moth Guide! It's fine to look stuff up!
•••••••
*Do note when going to the second area, a cutscene will play, showing a krill. If you run into the area during that cutscene, you can get krilled*
Also with the krills, are more rocks and the red shards. Red rocks will steal your light so stay clear of those. There will be areas for you to hide behind when the rocks fall towards you. And spots to hide from the krill of course.
And it's really best not to be chibi. So chibiphobic-
•••••••
Now, you get to the main part of Eden. Where you basically die-
There will be statues of skids that you have to light while getting through the 3rd area. By lighting the statues, you will lose your winged light.
As you do so, there will be periodic rock and shard rain, zapping away your winged light as you try to save as many statues as you can.
•••••••
Do not try to save your winged light. Just let it go and continue as long as you can. Try to reach as many statues as you can, just do your best!
••••••••
With 4 statues saved, that means you get 1 ascended candle. Ascended candles are valuable because you use them to unlock more items in a spirit friendship tree. Getting items such as the chibi mask, firework staff, chat table, black mask, etc.
That's the reward you get from completing the
Eye of Eden!
•••••••
Hopefully this post helped out a bit in preparing you for Eden! ♡
-Fay

Playing ThatSkyGame aka SKY
Tumblr media
Holding onto the lantern for dear life (the rain is toxic in the Hidden Forest?!)
Tumblr media
Making sure to explore lots, gotta find any hidden Easter eggs the devs left for nosy gamers~
Tumblr media
It’s pretty cold out by the lost ar- what is that? Past the mountains?
Tumblr media
What is that?!
Tumblr media
OMFG WHAT IS THAT?!?!?!?
Tumblr media
I got a cute little party crown at the three year birthday party!! 🥰👑
I’ve only been playing for a few days, but I finally got to chat with another player at a campfire, they were kind enough to help me open a door. When I said I wanted to see what was up the pipe by the cliff they told me there was nothing.
There was actually a path to another area, but even if there hadn’t been anything, the exploration is a prize in and of itself, even if it leads me nowhere, or back the way I’ve come, I want to see what I can see.
Getting lost is part of the fun, you know? I just wish I’d stop stepping in life draining oil because the lightings makes it look like water 😅
Really glad @seekingthestars mentioned the game the other day

Talking with friends who speak different languages
Do you ever friended someone, only to find out they don't speak a language you know? Well luckily Sky has a built in translator so you can communicate with your friends, even if they don't speak your language!
This is how you use it:
First, tap on any message to open the chat on the side
Tumblr media
Then tap on the message you want to translate in the side chat
Tumblr media
Tap the translate icon that will appear next to the message
Tumblr media
It should translate so you can see what your friend said! :D
Tumblr media
Don't question why I said "I speak a language" I had no idea what to say for this, anyways-
Unfortunately, this system only works to translate other people's messages, not your own, so if your friend doesn't know how to use the translator you probably won't be able to speak with them- since it's very hard to explain to someone how to use a translator in a language they don't understand.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
