I guess unpopular opinion but... I know what it means and I Intentionally use the cutsie meaning.
There are no words that are used by or about queerness that have not been used to harm us, justify our marginalization and destruction. One of the things I love about queerness is it allows us to look at society and reframe things along our own lens. The argument against 'gay panic' could be used against words like queer, like dyke, like fag. And there's nothing wrong with feeling uncomfortable with it like those other words. You don't have to use them if you don't want to.
But I, personally, find something beautiful in the transmutation of a justification for our murder being de-fanged and re-appropriated to describe explicitly queer attraction. And I will keep using it so.
We don't have to accept their definition of the term. We can remake it for us.
gentle reminder that “gay panic” is not a cutesy way of describing a gay character freaking out over another character or their sexuality. gay panic is a legal defense tactic used in the US until very recently to get homophobes out of facing consequences for killing or assaulting queer people. it is neither cute nor funny.
if you didn’t know this, that’s ok, now you do! proceed accordingly.

He is my ideal male protagonist. They all need to have this level of brain-rot over their counterparts.

Love Scout: Final Thoughts
I really, really enjoyed this. It was such a solidly enjoyable show with loveable characters and engaging conflicts. I feel like it gave time and weight to the things and moments that mattered and let everything else just go. Also glad that it came in at 12 episodes.
It never became more than the sum of its parts but as each of those individual parts was so strong it did not feel lacking. It hit every beat at just the right time and intensity.
Perhaps the side characters could have been developed more and their conflicts and resolutions rendered more satisfyingly. There is a bit handwaving on their parts. But at the episode count, I don't know how they would have managed that believably.
Can say I recommend this one and it may be one I come back to when I just want something fun and light.

I mean, if we really wanted comic book movies to be faithful to the source material, rather than spending $100 million on one movie, what you’d do is give $20 million each to five different directors, release all five resulting movies in theatres at the same time, and make sure that each movie’s plot refers to the events of all the other movies’ plots in such a way that whichever of the five movies you watch first will be entirely incomprehensible and every possible viewing order is wrong.

Love Scout: Thoughts up to ep 7
[wth Viki wont let me take screenshots of the show anymore?? sorry yall are getting to pictures]
Really, really enjoying this so far. The characters are engaging and the mild-enemies to lovers plot line is fun. One of my favorite things is equally competent and matched couples and both EunHo and JiYun are beyond competent in their respective fields.
I think the show does a great job of showing their growing respect for one another and appreciation for each's talents. I also really like how they push one another to grow and overcome their preconceptions.
I enjoy dramas - and KDramas in particular because of the amount of depth they *can* (not always, but can) give to their Women Leads. They can be a bit more messy, flawed but still likable and JiYun is definitely that. She even gives a feel of neuro-divergence but in a way that demonstrates why its 1. an asset to her profession and 2. a weakness in that it keeps her from holding other parts of her life together.
EunHo (gods I've loved Lee Jun Hyuk since City Hunter over a decade ago and its so fantastic to see him getting his Leading Man laurels) is, in many ways, fantastical wish fulfillment. I forgive the show for it, though, because its very tongue-in-cheek about calling itself out. Afterall, why should we not have a little idealized Gary Stu as a treat.
The one draw back of his characterization is that it *is* so flawless that its hard to believe he has actually fallen for JiYun. I think the show has adequately shown he admires and respects her and they work well together. However the problem with being so idealized that its hard to believe he wouldn't treat any other person the way he's treated JiYun. He's fallen for her because he's the leading man character and thats what he's supposed to do. I feel like we've been excluded from some of his internal world which would make his feelings clearer.
Which is to say, I don't quite feel like I've been sold on how and why he loves her, just that he does. I'd like to see him a bit more messy, now that things are all out in the open.
I'm hoping the last 3 episodes really bring it home.
