"Why is it a problem if students use AI to get through college"
Because if you demonstrate to me that you're willing to set aside concern for truth, evidence, and verifying things with your own eyes whenever it happens to be inconvenient for you, I have a solemn responsibility to make sure you don't get into medical school.

the mandela effect is so funny like. imagine being confronted with the fact that you misremembered some trivial detail and you have the deranged self confidence to assume that Reality Itself was Altered rather than admit to yourself you were wrong

nothing but respect for our troops (smut writers) but listen. i dont want to be the person to tell you this, but not every character is going to be a dom or a sub. some people. and i know this is hard to hear. but some people do have vanilla sex. and some of those people might even be The Character.

"I had not touched a cat in 15 years when an orange kitten wandered over to sit with me in the grass one day. I was left without adequate words to describe that experience. It reminded me that I am alive. It instilled in me a raw, unbridled happiness that I had never felt before, not even as a child.
I have spent many hours with those cats, and still I am amazed at how perfectly they reject everything it means to be in prison. They are playful and unselfconscious, curious and silly, soft and cuddly.
Sometimes it is even more interesting to watch my fellow prisoners interact with our cats. All those hard cases doing hard time melt like butter on a summer sidewalk when they visit the felines, feed them, watch them chase the birds and bees, and when they make toys to entice the cats to play with them.
I don’t think about the past when a cat hops in my lap. I don’t think of what I should or could have done. I don’t think about courts or life sentences or parole boards. What comes to mind is peace, and a sense that everything is going to be OK. What’s in the past needs to stay there if I want to have a future, if I want to be grateful for today and for the fact that I am no longer the person I once was.
The cats, of course, already know this. They are gracious enough to spend their time with us so that we might learn, and so that we can enjoy a few quiet moments of warmth, softness, non judgment, and freedom."

Dude, the enemy is not "the group of people who can afford a nice house and car and take vacations and eat well and have enough saved for retirement."
The enemy is the group of people who make it IMPOSSIBLE for EVERYONE to have a nice house and car and take vacations and eat well and save enough for retirement.
In the US, "poor people" USED to be the people who had not-so-nice houses and cars, or who had to rent instead of own. And it's not the dentist down the street who changed that; among others, it's the ultra-rich CEOs and shareholders who refuse to pay a living wage so they can live off your labor, and the exploitative corporations that buy up as much housing as they possibly can and charge exorbitant rent so you'll never be able to own your own home. It's the bosses who decide that "excess" food must be destroyed if it cannot be sold at a price that enriches shareholders. And it's the politicians who encourage and enable all of that.

I’ve only got three possible reactions to watching a TOS episode:
“I can’t believe this aired” (the worst plot you’ve ever seen on tv)
“I can’t believe this aired” (a piece of media so beyond its time and still relevant to today’s discussions, that I’m surprised it didn’t got censored at the time it went on air)
“I can’t believe this aired” (gay as fuck)

idk I get really irritated when people suggest that because you are childless that means you have nothing to fight for, no interest in the world beyond the end of your own life. "if you don't have kids, why bother with a better future" (an ACTUAL take i saw on here once, paraphrased)... idk man i guess I give a shit about YOUR kids?? i guess I give a shit about my nephews and my younger cousins? I give a shit about kids in Asia or Africa or Australia that I will never meet?????
it sounds insane to have to say this, I realize that.
but that's where I am with giving bix and cassian a child at the end of andor. "they're ending the show on HOPE," "they're giving cassian a reason to fight, to build a better world"... for a child he knows nothing about? sure, OK.
anyway, we've known cassian's fate for 10 years. giving him a child he'll never know seems cruel at this point. he was always going to give his life for something greater than himself. he burned his life to make a sunrise he'll never see.
so did jyn, bodhi, chirrut, baze, luthen, and every other rebel who died in andor.
they created hope for ALL those who would come after. not just their family or people they knew. that's the point.

Referred to as “the Dusseldorf patient” to protect his privacy, researchers said he is the fifth confirmed case of an HIV cure. Although the details of his successful treatment were first announced at a conference in 2019, researchers could not confirm he had been officially cured at that time.
Today, researchers announced the Dusseldorf patient still has no detectable virus in his body, even after stopping his HIV medication four years ago.
