Okay, but imagine a BBC Merlin time travel AU where both Merlin and Arthur get sent back, but neither one of them knows that the other one got sent back so they're both trying to change things while also not arousing suspicions. And, in true BBC Merlin fashion, they don't find out for the longest time. And I think they would get sent back at, like, the beginning of season two, that way Merlin and Arthur's dynamic is already established, meaning both of them don't want to do anything to change that and arouse the other's suspicions.
And you would think that one of them would notice, but every time Merlin does something suspicious/different, Arthur just thinks, "Oh, he's probably doing a magic thing that I didn't catch last time." And whenever Arthur does something different/suspicious, Merlin's just like, "Ah, my actions are having a butterfly effect. Good."
You've got two people trying to keep Morgana from turning evil. Arthur is telling her that things will be different when he's King, while Merlin is trying to relate to her more. Arthur automatically knows who to trust and who not to trust, and when Merlin points those things out, he actually listens. Arthur is always in the know. Uther has no idea what's going on. Merlin is out here doing ALL THE THINGS with his magic, and Arthur doesn't even notice. And neither of them can tell when the other is lying because both of them are such idiots. Somehow, Arthur ends up in mortal danger just as often as he did last time.
But it's not just silly-goofy-fun-and-games. There is so much angst. The whole time, Merlin is missing his Arthur, the one who died, and he thinks that he's never going to have that Arthur again. Plus, he knows this time that, if he fails, Arthur will die, and so there's a whole other level of pressure there.
Arthur, on the other hand, doesn't want to put Merlin through all of the trauma that he faced before. He feels responsible for making Merlin feel unable to share his secrets with him, and also knows that he will be causing Merlin unimaginable grief if he fails, which he does not want to do. Again.
But the whole thing is mostly hijinks. Because the show is mostly hijinks.

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I love how Suzanne included the details of the hair and eye colour of Katniss and Peeta's children. On repeated occasions, it is emphasised that a social divide exists between the olive-skinned, dark-haired, grey-eyed Seam folk and the pale, blond, blue-eyed town folk. Although Katniss primarily attributes this to being a facet of the class divide, there are certainly racial connotations to this social disparity (which the headcanon that Katniss is Indigenous demonstrates well).
Suzanne doesn't mention their children's names. But she does mention their features--a true blend of the dark and the light, the grey and the blue. These children are a visual marker for the changes in 12 and at large Panem for a better future; not just of a world without the Games or the hunger, but without the prejudice that allowed that system to flourish.

Your GORGEOUS Merlin fanart has reawakened my merlin obsession. My mind has been in OVER DRIVE. My fave plot bunny I've been pondering thus far after you launched me back into the fandom is an AU where Merlin's magic is discovered so obviously he flees Camelot, meaning OBVIOUSLY Arthur goes after him. Except that's not what Camelot thinks happened. What everyone else DOES think is that the evil sorcerer Merlin kidnapped their crown prince and is now holding him hostage, resulting in a slew of knights embarking on a 'rescue' mission to save Arthur from Merlin's evil clutches. Basically, this is just an excuse to subvert the damsel(Arthur) locked away in a tower guarded by a dragon(Merlin) au. Your art has literally inspired me soo much it's absolutely crazy. You've sparked a creative fire within me!!! ✨🔥
THATS SO FUN I LOVE THAT!!!

so tired of all these fics where merlin is captured and is like "p-please n-n-n-n-no" like this hoe didn't show up to camelot, immeadiately commit aggravated assault, get arrested, get out of prison, continue to try both commit aggravated assault and regicide, and then within the next 30 minutes of the episode commit like 3 counts of murder 😭😭

I need an AU where the witchfinder accuses Morgana of being a sorceress and Arthur defends her. When Uther turns against her Arthur and Merlin prove that Aredian is a fraud but before that Uther yells at Arthur: "Magic is evil"
An Arthur yells back: "It's Morgana! She is good, she is kind even if she had magic she is still herself! "
Which made Morgana AND Merlin realize they could trust him

I think Merthur is the ultimate 'who fell first, who fell harder' debate cuz on the surface it's easy. Merlin fell first, he didn't hesitate to show everyone his loyalty and devotion to Arthur from very early on. Meanwhile Arthur was closed of at the beginning but with time is not only willing to risk everything for Merlin but also not even trying to hide it.
And those are valid points. BUT.
In truth Merlin thought of Arthur as a complete ass in the beginning while Arthur was intrigued from the first meeting. That boy might've not known what he was feeling but he was down bad. And sure he hid how much he cared in the first season or so but when you think about them in the actual context of master and servant? The fact that he not only didn't immediately fire him when, yk, Merlin obviously didn't know what he was doing but even rehired him? Yup that shows a lot.
Meanwhile I don't think we even need to talk about Merlin. He started out his let's protect Arthur quest out of duty(-ish) and because of his kindness. Because he wanted a purpose and was told it was this. But with time he got to see who Arthur really was and idk what to tell you, my guy literally devoted his whole life to Arthur. By the end he was willing to quite literally lose everything else before he lost Arthur. It wasn't even about destiny anymore.
So yeah. Arthur fell first. And he did fall hard. But Merlin is unmatched in pure devotion.
(although you could ofc make the point they both fell from the start, and the both fell rly fucking hard)
