Some reading this on the surface might scoff and denigrate any positive consideration to such a proposal as lazy or trying to get away with something. But this has got to be, in my opinion, one of the most progressive and important experiments of the last 20 years. It's focus is on our future. Our seemingly inevitable future. What do we do when money cannot be earned in the current definition of this concept?
What does the future look like if we cannot perform for a livable wage?
Theologically speaking, the work that God did in the creation account in the Bible seems to have also been, in addition to other purposes, a mimetic device to compliment the creation (humans) to the creator (God). This can be seen in the laws given to the people and the connection of the idea of a return to a connection to the divine. God tells people to take a sabbath because God rested on the seventh day. We have so much generally established theology and ecclesiology and pneumatology and eschatology that are in many ways predicated on a God that rests. Many morality clauses in church culture throughout the ages have sprung forth from supporting arguments of a live-to-work-and-work-to-do-your-calling-and-rest-cycle. Modern church culture loves these concepts because they can do seminars and conferences and build multi-million dollar empires on these ties to Bible concepts of rest and those things leading up to and resulting from a proper rest.
What if resting doesnt matter anymore?
What if resting is the new life of the future with automated wages?
What if work is actually non-existent or perhaps given to those for criminal punishment?
Being paid for the rest of your life for doing nothing can seem subtle but it eventually brings up some theological questions that the church needs to prepare to answer.
Will not worrying about money and finding work be the eternal life?
Will that make us all lazy and not want to do anything? Would it free us to live great and uplifting lives? Would it free people from living despicable immoral lives? Is money the cause of bad things in life like poverty, crime, violence?
Feel free to answer or add on anything.

As if churches didn't need bad PR in 2019. This makes for a hard ride for this year for churches in general when one denomination's pursuit to fund a deteriorating outreach system ends up in an acquisition of an off-the-rails failed for-profit education institution in the attempt to reverse the decline and profit.
These schools like ITT have suffered enough let alone the students and families and staff in these institutions. Why would a non-profit faith centered institution gamble on turning a horrible mess into a profit? To help homeless people the results have become to make other people homeless. All these people are in debt and their investments into higher education has become null and void. The issue is that this was blamed on the CEOs and leadership of these institutions. They had nothing to do with Christianity or faith. Now it does. This was an avoidable situation but not any more. So thousands of people look at the top for answers and help. But how in the world can one non-profit organization and one church and one faith denomination ever pay out thousands of people for their wasted education and loans? They can't. It's sucks.
Any thoughts. Perhaps a few years from this post we will see something hopefully better.

Art and Creators' Morals and a Question of Pop Culture Anathemas
Hey guys,   (quick random topic I want to know your thoughts if you have any. just because)
So there have been some buzz about R. Kelly resurfacing with the underage abuse scandals and now I just learned of the Michael Jackson doc on HBO that's revealing about Jackson and his abuse scandals. There have been criticisms on how the news media still uses and pays licensing to use these artists' music on these cover news stories and how in a counteractive way promote the music of these artists by doing so and somehow perpetuates their presence as pop icons in the culture. So they bash on them but they promote their work.
Other similar issues have been around a while..
Louis CK walked out of the spotlight because of his personal things but his horse cartoon is still on Netflix.
House of cards still plays. Similar issue.
Artists are people too and it just so happens that some of these people who make mistakes or who hold perspectives of life or morality that can be repulsive to many.
But their artwork, movies, shows, music has been so ingrained in American culture and even the world. I heard some discussion on NPR about this and they asked a series of questions that I think are good... What happens to the art? Do we start turning it off or boycott because of who they are or were and what they did or do we just separate them and enjoy the music regardless of their creators?
I think it's fine to keep their songs around for creativity's sake. Many art pieces have lasted throughout the centuries with the knowledge of despicable behaviors in the artists' life. But the climate is a muddy mess now it seems polarity issues between conservative and liberal views have spread so far from each other that many hybrid and niether/nor stances are seemingly as prevalent as the traditional views.
Of course issues with sexual abuse are grave and horrendous but this shows that there seems to be a gauge of acceptable and unacceptable behavior in pop culture. There are these things that were mentioned and violent behavior as well that are all generally despised as a global whole. But what are some other anathemas that exist out there? Are things able to be shut down? If enough people make a big deal will it be able to make a difference.
At the time I'm writing this the Gucci scandal with "black face" is still lingering in the air and kind of waning into the archives of media history. This all seems similar too. A huge staple in global fashion and culture shows signs of disgusting racist behavior but what should people do?
Perhaps, eventually, these sources of culture will crumble under their own negligence in pr or perhaps just continue to thrive.
But I feel if the context and intent of the work is captivating and brilliant enough to hold it's own weight apart from being tied to a name, maybe it's good enough to keep for the world to enjoy.
I think this is interesting but perhaps any of you might have some thoughts on this.
Hope you're all doing well!

Father's Day
This is my first father's day. I am happy, proud, I feel a sense of accomplishment. Not necessarily because I had a baby and followed the trajectory of what the culture in a large part is saying to do. I feel good because I have created with my wife a human being that will hopefully grow up to be a great guy. It's actually a little harder now to remember how it truly felt like to not have a child to take care of. As great as that was and as awesome as that life truly is to many out there, I feel so good that I chose to have a child when I did instead of waiting. I was anticipating the changes but I was definitely not aware of how real and how big the changes would be.
You know, many people say that having a child deepens your connection and preference of the spiritual sensibilities in life. I can attest to those feelings but I am mostly constantly attempting to trace some sort of line that all of the events in my life are connecting like dots. The interesting thing is that though with my experience and personal delving into my unorthodox stances on spirituality and faith, I am embracing and becoming more open with the fact that my personal preference is what leads me to personify a genuine and honest heartfelt picture of what faith is. I feel this is probably the same with everyone. If you are the type to be disciplined and more conservative, you will most likely embrace and become more open to communities and people who speak of spirituality and faith as you do. As with everyone else. Sometimes it gets blended and for the most part people are fine unless it's a sacred cow of some sorts.
I see some interesting events in my life that are favorable and it's almost hard now not to say a small or big, "thank you God" and I am perplexed by it. But not in a bad way. I feel good where I am.
Life, family, faith, spirituality, community.
I can't ask for anything else. Life is unpredictable but funny and I am enjoying every moment. Every season in life will forever speak and echo throughout future seasons. I have learned to trust the process of life. If I want something I work hard and find a way to get it. If I don't then I don't get it. If something hard happens I trust the process of grieving and picking up the pieces. If I don't I will forever be in a spiral of doom.
As a new father I accept the reality and fragility of all things even more now and that is what really let's me appreciate everything and experience my faith in a very significant way.
Fatherhood has illuminated these things in my life so far.
