“I’ll tell you one thing”–a poem by me. This was inspired by a recent article in The Washington Post (excerpted in This Week magazine) about a tiny town in the Appalacians and their reactions to the recent push to remove icons of the confederacy. i would insert a link to the original article but it’s behing a paywall and I don’t have a subscription–sorry. All of the lines in italics are direct quotes either from the article or other news sources. As always, I would love to hear what you think of it.

From the inception of deciding to go forward with creating a card deck, I wanted there to be a suit consisting of a family of color. The club family will each consist of a beautiful darker skin shade and plays a great contrast to the values I’m looking to include for this suit! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣♣️ - The suit of clubs represents being in the “summer” of your life and I wanted to represent the suit with lush fruits and warmth.
