Creation Challenges are back!

Welcome, to all creators!

For anyone who is unaware, Creation Challenges are prompt-driven competitions through the Tales: Choose Your Story community on Discord where you can submit responses to prompts and receive feedback and a prize for your work! You do not have to be a writer, they are designed to be as inclusive as possible! After a voting period, the highest voted earns a free promotional package!

There are three types of challenges so far:

Weekly Challenges, or WC- prompts that go out every week and are changed every Monday. Tend to be shorter. Includes “Mixed Media” prompts more frequently. Voting held every Friday-Sunday to declare a winner!

Biweekly Projects, or BP- prompts that go out every other week and are changed every other Monday. Tend to be longer with more free reign. Voting held every other Fri-Sun to declare a winner!

and the Line Game- a month-long living work split into two parts that anyone can add to. Begins with a prompt and paragraph from the host of Creation Challenges (which would be me!). For more info, feel free to check out #Games in the Google Drive Folder that I've shared down below!

I've been revisting my childhood and watching those early 2000's cartoons, as one does, and I've stumbled across something on my Chaotic binge...

...the CORE MEMORY I have of cartoons is 4kids, and from that I primarily remember maybe 5 or 6 shows at once, YuGiOh (and YuGiOh GX), Sonic X, Chaotic, that one about the piñatas, and Winx. This is early stuff, from that age when I'd wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning and watch T.V. in the living room while we still had one. I'd argue it was formative to my personality today. That being said, after we lost our T.V. we got Hulu, so I was watching Sonic and YuGiOh regularly. Then Netflix had Winx, so everything else kinda fell to the wayside until Chaotic got a resurgence and I came across it late, now, on Amazon Prime and on YouTube. The main things I remember from Chaotic, aside from the premise, are Mr. Green over there, whiny wimp boy MC, Kaz with the hair, mugic, scanners, and theme music.

Now that begs the question of why Mr. Green, Maxxor, is my first thought and association. Chaotic and YuGiOh most definitely fueled my love of creatures and magic and whimsy and fantasy. I absolutely adore their worlds and have had the LONGEST crush on Jaden Yuki and I collect all the Kuriboh cards I can get my hands on. I figure that's in part due to how many times I've watched YuGiOh GX.

Yet, when I hear the Chaotic theme or the sound if a scanner and I see Maxxor... it's like a damn primal instinct. It's like gaining consciousness. (And no, it's not because I'm attracted to him, if anyone I'd be attracted to Intress)

Something from Chaotic was ingrained in me and I didn't realize it. Then I saw this picture and everything clicked.

Creator Highlight: Secrets of the Library

It's finally October and I'm sure you're in search of a good read. We'll, guess what? We've got a second time winner and her latest story, "Secrets of the Library" waiting for you! You may remember Misha Howse from our second August Biweekly Project Challenge. Well, folks, she's back and she's even stronger than before! 

Misha brought down the house with a lovely submission for last week's challenge, and she's here to give you the thrill of a lifetime. "Secrets of the Library" is a wonderful interactive fiction story in which the players choices changes the paths that the main character, Noemi, encounters.
