Development of UV Photo Detector : ZnO nanostructure
Nanoscale materials have shown unprecedented capabilities in the emerging technologies ranging from solar energy harvesting to biosensing. New applications for nanophotonics and nanoelectronics are been inspired by the development of defect-free low-dimensional nanostructures. To assess their potential capabilities is particularly important to uncover their new and interesting properties and characteristics concerning electronic transport, light emission and photo-detection.
The low dimensionality and the high surface-to –volume ratio play a fundamental role in the overall photo-detection performance. An important attribute of photoconductors is their ability to produce gain in the excess of one that is the generation of more than one electron in an external circuit for each absorbed photons. The direct band-gap materials other than ZnO have a lower propensity to trap charge carriers, and nanostructures of these materials are, in general, capable of more rapid responses. Detection of ultraviolet (UV) light is a  important factor in civil as well as military fields. It has boosted up the research on the progress of materials that are capable of sensing the UV light. During last few years, zinc oxide based nanostructures have been widly  explored by the scientific community for a large variety of technological applications. ZnO being a wide band gap (~3.37eV at 300 K) n-type semiconductor has been found to be promising for the UV light sensing. The surface properties of ZnO due to wide band gap and the adsorbant-dependent make it suitable for UV photodetection. Moreover, it is intrinsically non-toxic and environmental-friendly.
Development of ZnO nanostructure further opens new dimension for the development of UV photodetector. In the case of nanostructures, surface related gas adsorption/desorption is more prominent. There are some reports in which the surface related adsorption/desorption processes in the case of ZnO films and aggregates of nanorods has been taken as large advantageous factor for high photoconductivity. In these reports two main factors contributing to the high photosensitivity of such  nanostructures have been recognized:
 i).The large surface-to-volume ratio and the presence of deep level surface trap states greatly prolongs the photocarrier lifetime;
ii). The reduced dimensionality of the active area shortens the carrier transit time. The combination of long lifetime and short transit time of charge carriers can result in substantial photoconductivity in ZnO nanostructures.
Tumblr media
While there are several other reports in which surface related adsorption/desorption processes has been shown as the factor for slow photo response. The response time is an very significant property of photoconductive materials.
Three factors are important for any application of ZnO for UV detection:
(1) the sensitivity, expressed in Acm2W-1 or in AW-1,
(2) response time expressed in microseconds and
(3) the visible light rejection, the ratio of the current in the visible spectrum.

Water Crisis and Its Solution
Water is our most valuable resource and it is used in every day’s life but it is a conventional resource. Every biological community on Earth depends on water for sanitation, cleanliness, and day by day survival. Yet the world’s water frameworks confront impressive dangers. In excess of a billion people as of now live in water-rare locales, and upwards of 3.5 billion could encounter water shortage by 2025.
Tumblr media
According to a survey by the world health organization (WHO) only 2.5% of water is considered as fresh water and the rest 97.5% is a part of oceans and it is salty. In 2.5% of fresh water 30% for groundwater and 70% for ice and snow so only less than 1% is used by direct humans. At present, most of the world faces water crises, especially Northern Africa, Middle East and Central and Southern Asia. Although India has enough water resources, some parts also come into the category of severe and economic water stress. 54% of India is facing water stress mainly Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi, Punjab and Haryana.
In addition, more than 100 million people live in areas where water is in poor or polluted condition. Out of the 632 districts in India examined to determine the quality of ground water, only 59 districts had water safe enough to drink by BIS. Bagalkot in Karnataka has the most unsafe drinking water. With increasing industrialization and urbanization, more than 40% of India’s available surface water is being used every year. In the north western region, the breadbasket of India, about 80% of the surface water is being used. While the current situation looks quite grim, there is a possibility that it can gets worse. Water supply is expected to fall 50% below demand by 2030.
Many researchers and scientists proposed various methods to solve the water crisis problem. The problem of water crisis can be resolved by following manner:
Transportation of water from another location
Desalination of brackish water
Generation of water from atmospheric air
The first method is very expensive and also depends upon the location of the requirement. The second method is better work where the brackish water is available but in some areas like arid regions this technology does not work due to unavailability of water.
Water production from atmospheric air is also a method to help the deficiency of fresh water. In every cubic meter water vapour is present. Water vapour density varies with geographical location, time and season. By volume water vapour is 4% of atmospheric gas mixture and by mass it is 3% of the air. There are many technologies to collect water from the atmosphere using solar energy.
In the end we have to focus on alternate solutions for water generation devices, especially for drinking purposes.

Biotechnology Corner – Oyster Mushroom
“β-Glucan from Crude Powder of Oyster Mushroom act as Nutraceutical supplement for patients suffering from Metabolic Disorder”
Beta-glucan is a compound found in mushrooms that has an important role in obesity. Not only mushroom, it is also found in many bowls of cereal, and fungi. This work’s aim is beta-glucan characterization in mushrooms which has anti-obesity properties by extraction method of beta-glucan using hot water extraction method and purification is done by chromatography. The crude polysaccharides (PSC) fractions contained beta-glucan (including chit oligosaccharides deriving from chitin hydrolysis), alpha-glucan, and other PSCs (hetero-/proteo-ǥlucans) Depending on the temperature, mushroom strain considered. The crude polysaccharide in this work was extracted from a mushroom sample by mixing with n-hexane.
After the repeated interval of using hot water, at their corresponding temperature the needy component was extracted, that is beta- glucan. After extraction of β–glucan, from crude powder, the quantification process was done by UV-Spectroscopy at 523nm on different concentrations of extracted beta-glucan. After analysis on Gas chromatograph-Mass spectroscopy, it was observed that purify beta glucan percentage is rich in edible mushrooms.
Due to genetic and environmental factors, the modification of nutritional patterns and decreased physical activity, the adoption of sedentary lifestyles have been affected the underlying risk factors for obesity, which is a major cause of development of metabolic disorder as well as of obesity predisposes to the development of complications such as abnormal lipid profile, hypertension, diabetes etc.
Over the years, polysaccharides with potential pharmacological, nutraceutical, functional food, and cosmeceutical properties have been isolated from mushrooms. These polysaccharides attract a great deal of attention not only from researchers but also with consumers. In the present article, after the preparation, extraction, purification, and characterization along with quantitative analysis of polysaccharides from mushrooms, it is reasonable to evaluate the medicinal quality of mushrooms by taking the bioactive polysaccharide content as a marker, rather than the total polysaccharide level in the future.
A number of polysaccharides from mushrooms are recommended for enhancing the body energy, lowering the blood glucose level and boosting the immune system. In addition, it is essential to develop effective industrialization-oriented methods for the extraction of mushroom bioactive polysaccharides and exploit nutraceutical products based on the bioactive polysaccharides. We concluded that the β-glucan present in edible Oyster mushrooms may be useful as a nutraceutical compound for the patients suffering from diabetes and other metabolic disorders as well as to treat other health issues related to metabolic syndrome.
The overall effect of beta-glucan, extracted from edible mushrooms in reducing symptoms and biochemical parameters suggests that beta-glucan extract is effective in patients with a metabolic disorder. This benefit appears to be clinically significant. Edible Mushroom is well tolerated and safer than the other prescription medications. Thus, when Mushroom was given as “an add-on” to concurrent therapy of metabolic disorder, it came out to be synergistic and effective in better management of the disease. Thus we can add edible mushrooms or extracted beta-glucan powder in our diet as nutraceutical supplements to make a healthy life.

English Literature: A World of Inspiration and Creativity
Literature is the strength of using words to create entire worlds, characters and places that do not exist, except within the minds and fancy of those who read. English Literature is an immeasurable, immense world of its own. I take great pleasure in literature because I feel it’s adequate for the soul. I like literature because I’ve always found it simple, and delightful to read.  When I was growing up, so very long ago, there wasn’t any daytime TV, video games, no cell phones, social media, computers, internet, local summer camps, sports programs, and all the other things that compete for kids’ time these days. When I was a bright child, when I learned to read, I was pointed to the local library where I could take out books for free. I like to hear a story. Storytelling is a prehistoric art that has evolved over time, from scorching to kindles. It’s the process of sharing knowledge.
Tumblr media
Literature has enormous force to bring about alacrity in life. Whenever I feel that I am losing in the rally of the life, I move back to literature, books and poetry. The distinct love of Literature however began when I was very adolescent and used to read fairy narratives and nursery rhymes with my mother and grandparents. This is where you will acquire the most understanding, this is where you will master to read literature assiduously with elucidation, focusing on motifs, plot, themes, hermeneutics, structure, poetics, digression, etc…
Literature unlocks doors for students. It reveals them to new concepts and experiences. It gives them distinctive outlooks. It permits them to master and to escape. English Literature is a critical study of Literature written or translated in English throughout History. To be a good Literature student, you need to be well versed with the socio-political climate of the past as well as the present.

Understand the Importance of History
Nothing is more fascinating than history. Many people find it tedious because of the usually unimaginative manner it is taught in schools, simply getting students to remember names and dates in preparation for an equitably dull test. It is easy! Definitely easy! We make history and history reminds us what we are. Well the best method I’d say is to obtain Historical inroads towards topics that already fascinates you. It might be your hobbies, sports, or even your local district, or your family. From my own point of view, ancient history fascinates me because of its inexplicable nature.
Tumblr media
Because bitterly, lots of people fail to recall about the fact that History isn’t just about the big happenings that build civilizations, it is also about very minute happenings that either led to much bigger events or local consequences or overall very predominant things.
History is so fascinating because learning about prominent and everyday people, events, narratives, and the successes and failures of people, nations, civilizations, and organizations can be important and worthwhile. Learning about history gives people an outlook, lessons for the present and the future, and many life lessons to contemplate, wonder and think about.
For most people, history is fascinating because the causes and effects of significant happenings can be analyzed. It is really fascinating to probe into our past. We master and we can change. People tend to contemplate history as mere facts but it is far from being mere facts. It is quite fascinating to know how the political, social, religious and economical fields of the world have emerged in their present form through centuries. We discover answers to many of our queries. Because learning about the world’s past happenings is fascinating. History takes us away from boring modern life, usually reminds us how fortunate we are, helps explain the present and puts modern life in outlook.

Women Empowerment: A New Beginning
“Empowerment of women leads to development of a good family, good society and, ultimately, a good nation.” Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam Quotes Great dreams of great dreamers are always transcended.
Education is the most influential tool for changing the entire eternity. It is well said that if any nation wants to grow, it should upgrade its education system and make the population well educated and literate. And most importantly ensure to put more emphasis on the education of its women because if the roots are strong, the stem and branches will automatically become strong.
An educated woman not just helps in bringing the economy upside but also helps in building a strong nation. It opens up their mind for discussions related to household activities, financial discussions, politics, healthy lifestyle etc. It is observed that educated and skilled women bring up their kids in a better way by taking utmost care of all family members, supporting the family and surroundings financially, morally, health wise and many other prominent elements required for the growth of family and eventually the nation.
An educated woman is more confident in making right decisions with logical reasoning behind it. She has earned the capacity of asking and finding reason before performing any act. Education has made women great leaders of the world and not just mere followers. An educated woman’s footprints are visible in each and every field today. Be it small scale industries, large scale industries or space engineering or any field we can think of or name it. It is well evident from the analyzed data of various research programmes that education, skill and empowerment are directly proportional to each other. An educated woman and her status, confidence, decision making ability inspire other women around her to be like her. It is a well known fact that action speaks louder than words and hence proved in case of women empowerment and influencing society for following the same way if they want change in their lives and want to contribute for the society and for the nation. An Educated woman knows to ensure that her contribution is counted and receive the respect and motivation for her deeds.
The trend of women education is going up in the graph be it rural or urban areas. Education provides an awareness about the law and order formed for the betterment of society. In today’s world , women are much aware about the laws and know well what to do in which situation and get the respect, affection and lifestyle she deserves. Education ignites the minds of people to think, to ask for reasons behind any action, to ask for more knowledge about the topics in demand. In today’s online/digital world, it is very important to keep oneself updated about surroundings, especially women, as women and children are the most soft target for anyone. If we look around the data of women’s higher education, the trend is increasing. In India, as per research based on the last 7 years, the number of women enrolling themselves for higher education has risen to almost 47 percent. The Literacy rate of India in 2021 was 74%. The Male literacy rate was 82% and the female literacy rate was 65% as per census 2021. Kerala is the most literate state in India with 93% literacy rate. Also, as per census 2011, Kerala has the highest female literacy rate of 92%.
Falguni Nayar, the owner of Nykaa, the richest Indian Women as on today and is the only self made Indian women billionaire after Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw. She is qualified from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics and from the IIM (Ahmedabad). She is an inspiration for billions of women across India who want to achieve something in their lives and do something for the betterment of the society and nation.
There are other women entrepreneurs also who have made difference in the lives of billions of people e.g Vandana Luthra (Founder of VLCC), she has done Polytechnic for Women in New Delhi, Aditi Gupta ((Founder of Menstrupedia), and engineering Graduate and a New Media Design Post-Graduate, Richa Kar (Co-founder of Zivame), an Engineering Graduate and MBA. The list can go long and many more vibrant illustrations of women’s achievement .

SIMULATIONS AND VIRTUAL TRAINING: A FUTURISTIC ASPECTS
Learners are increasingly using online training simulations to put their skills to the test and apply what they’ve learned in the classroom to real-world situations. They also enable children to learn from their mistakes without suffering unwanted consequences. As a result, eLearning professionals and their consumers prefer these interactive online training solutions.
It’s becoming increasingly vital to distinguish between virtual modalities as we apply new technology in simulation education. Virtual simulation is a word that is occasionally used to refer to a wide range of simulation-based experiences, ranging from screen-based platforms to fully immersive virtual reality. One of the most appealing features of online training simulations is that they accurately simulate real-life emotions.
Augmented Reality
The fundamental attraction of Augmented Reality digital learning is the interactive experience. By engaging learners’ visual and auditory senses, augmented reality tries to replicate a real-world experience in the digital environment.
Virtual reality
Virtual reality-enabled learning environments allow students to interact with the learning environment. Learners are given virtual learning glasses or head mounted displays to simulate real-world events. When teaching in a real environment isn’t possible, VR learning comes in handy. The key distinction between AR and VR learning is that AR can be accessed via a smartphone, whereas VR instruction requires a headgear device.
Simulation
The use of software and tools to enhance the learning process is referred to as simulation learning. A simulated environment is a safe environment that simulates real-world events. It is currently widely used in corporate training for skill development.
Blended learning:
It provides learners the most effective of worlds. It uses on-line and offline technologies in tandem. Learners meet during a physical room whereas conjointly learning through online interactive sessions. They get a chance to learn from both online and classroom settings while not having to easily hear or watch academic content in a passive mode.
Simulations and virtual training sessions:
Automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) have changed the business landscape in more ways than one. As a result, there is an increased demand for technological and higher cognitive workforce skills in organizations. Virtual flights and technique reproductions in valid climate conditions permitted an abundance of illustrations to be learned. The pilot training program, comprising of five screens organized around the cockpit, set the two pilots ready for a 25-hour flight, completely prepared and lashed in as they would be actually. The enthusiastic effect that test system preparing has on diggers assists them with turning out to be more mindful and careful while completing hazardous obligations. This was only an illustration of how VR demonstrates valuable in the mining business. The advantages of involving VR and reenactment in a scope of circumstances and enterprises are referenced beneath:
“Mark Zuckerberg, the Co-founder and CEO Facebook, said that he is pretty confident about Virtual Reality emerging as an important technology. Virtual reality will emerge to hold a prominent place in today’s world with several areas of application. In the next five years, Zuckerberg aims to transform Facebook into a metaverse company.”
Training Methods in Future:
Companies need to rethink their approach towards training to harness the new technologies to their full effect. Employees learn best only when they receive real time feedback. Adapting to new technologies can be difficult with the same old traditional training methods. Simulation and Virtual reality (VR) are the future of training and can be used for a wide range of applications including soft skills training and procedural training.
Retraining
Evolve education systems and training methods
Rethink transition support
The pandemic situation compelled everyone to work remotely which led to challenges in several areas of operations including training employees. But most companies resorted to technology to address this issue and kept going uninterrupted even in the midst of a serious crisis. VR was one of the most relied upon technologies during the pandemic for training purposes, especially to develop soft skills and leadership qualities.VR has successfully reduced the total time required for training for many organizations.
