“We are animals”, a film by Lorenzo Pallotta with our original score and the usual magic by Tommaso Barbaro (Fullcode Studio) premieres at Karlovy Vary International Film Festival - Imagina section in July.

The film follows a character who, in a quest to break free from societal expectations and childhood trauma, seeks to escape human constraints through a symbolic and physical return to nature as an act of resistance and survival. A raw and visceral reflection on our relationship with fear, belonging, and the natural world.

On June 13th, within the framework of Africa Asia ConFest in Dakar, Senegal, we will premiere “Wailwalkers: A Mourning in Motion”, a new performance based on our research on grieving and lamentation songs, in collab with Antoine Danfa and Troupe de Nathane Kabouka.  In a world marked by the ongoing genocide in Gaza and escalating global conflicts and crises, mourning has become a collective necessity—an act of witnessing and acknowledging. “Wailwalkers: A Mourning in Motion” invites audiences to come together in a shared moment of grief—a cathartic ritual aimed at transforming individual sorrow into a process of collective awareness. 

The performance is part of a project on rituality developed with Davide Quadrio. Special thanks to Chương-Đài Võ, Marion Louisgrand, Kër Thiossane, Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Dakar.

As part of the collaboration between Fondazione Merz and MAO museum for Yto Barrada exhibition "DEADHEAD", Evolving Soundscapes (our curated performance and music programme) presents the first-ever performance in Turin by Nadah El Shazly who will present her new album, Laini Tani, set to release in May 2025 under Björk’s label, One Little Independent Records. On stage, she will be joined by Sarah Pagé (harp) and 3Phaz (electronics).

Happy to share that we are the curators for the next chapter of the series “L’intruso” (The intruder) of GAM Torino, the Civic Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, meant to disrupt the museum’s reassuring path and offering unforeseen perspectives.

Our intrusive intervention, in collaboration with MAO – Museum of Asian Art, takes shape as an immersive installation based on sound sources by artist Aldana Duoraan exploring the Sakha cosmology of the tripartition of the soul.

The work, strategically placed and spatialized along the stairs, transforms the GAM stairwell into a vast, imaginative musical instrument, named Scalémbalo. Activated at irregular intervals, it creates a fortuitous and unpredictable interaction, thus fostering active listening and a reflection on the multiplicity of being.

On December 14th in Turin, in collaboration with MAO museum and the City of Turin, we present the musical performance “Walls Will Fall: The 28 Trumpets of Jericho” by Lebanese musician Mazen Kerbaj, part of the project “Senza Mura”, designed to make museum events more accessible to the neighborhood of Piazza della Repubblica and Porta Palazzo. Drawing inspiration from the biblical story of Jericho’s walls, the performance, which involves 28 trumpeters, transforms music into a powerful tool to overcome barriers and divisions, delivering a strong message against xenophobia and racism.

From one recording session in the Sahara desert carrying echoes of its smallest noises and cracklings (Groupe Derhane) to music that conveys the concept of alienation one can feel in the unknown and dark world of the ice desert (freddie Murphy and Chiara Lee), the new batch highlight two different takes and approaches.
