soft reminder: when you don't feel ok, remember your negative thoughts seem more realistic and smart, but in reality they are lies and don't deserve the extra attention you give them. most negative thoughts want you to repeat bad habits and cycles. they don't save you from unhealthy habits, disappointment or anxiety, they help reinforce them. so try to only notice those thoughts as they drift in your mind: don't place any value on them. kind thoughts are hard to trust and seem fake, but focusing on kind thoughts are more helpful for your happiness.

I had a bit of a realization today. About why I didn’t see a counselor for so long, why I hate going to the doctor and dentist. I feel this overwhelming sense of shame and fear of judgement and disappointment. I didn’t really develop good habits even though I knew that they were for the best, and I was always called out on it. Especially at the dentist, and considering they were friends with my mom I always felt like I would let them down when they told me I needed to do better. Even the doctors had some opinion on my weight and my habits. Having being raised to respect my elders, I would strive to please. Now I haven’t been to the doctor or dentist in years, mostly because I fear the judgement of strangers. I know I shouldn’t because if I don’t more serious health and dental issues can occur. The same issue when it came to seeking help for my mental state. While I didn’t have suicidal thoughts, or a terrible up bringing, my depression would weigh me down. I thought I was an ugly person because I had terrible thoughts about other people. That I found it hard to find the positive in a situation, so much so that my life was at a stand still for years. After going to a counselor I learnt that those thoughts are normal, it was just a matter of knowing how to process those thoughts. That it takes practice to turn my point of view. While I still have negative thoughts, I am starting to make head way of dismissing them and finding the positive. Instead of wallowing in my anxiety and letting it build I have been finding ways to deal with. Not feeling shame is an important part, I can’t please everyone. Sometimes I have to do what I need to in order to deal with my emotions. So for any of my readers who need to hear this, don’t be ashamed. Not any one person is the same and others opinion shouldn’t dictate how you need to care for yourself. Your physical and mental health is important. Be safe friends

10 things to do before bed!
Plan the next day out!
Try not to be on your phone for atleast an hour before you go to bed.
Meditate
Drink a cup of calming herbal tea
Brush your teeth
Wash your face. Apply a night cream. Take care of your skin!
Read an actual book and not one on your phone.
Lay out your clothes for the next day.

If you’ve been beating yourself up over weight gain during the pandemic, please, please try not to.
You’re surviving a worldwide collective trauma right now. You’re going through life-changing events. I promise you that a weight gain is nothing to be concerned about. Nothing is normal right now, there will be changes and I promise it’s okay if some of those are to your body. And you really don’t need any added stress at a time like this; it won’t do you any good.
We’re all in the same boat. I promise you that everyone gets it if you gain a little weight. It’s okay.

How to Get Going When You Just Want to Stay In Bed and Be Nothing
Some days hit you like a ton of bricks, and for those who already struggle, those days can be even harder. Hopefully, these little tips can give you a boost in your darkest moments.
1. Open a window, let some light and fresh air in. You might not want it now, but it will help you feel better in the long run.
2. Take a shower. Sometimes, this can be more difficult than we expect, but that’s okay. Just letting the water hit your back, or washing your face can make you feel more refreshed.
3. Work on a hobby that gets you going. Unfortunately, as good as it feels in the moment, lying in bed and watching netflix while the work you have piles up will only make you feel worse. Now, maybe you can’t tackle your assignments right now, but sitting up and drawing your favourite character or watering your plants while blasting some music will get you in a better mindset.
4. Change your music. Sometimes we need to listen to a sad ass song and just get all our emotions out, but once that’s done and dusted, don’t dwell. Listen to some up-beat music (if I may, I recommend our Pick Me Up Playlist by You) and try to keep your environment from matching your mood.
5. Get a healthy snack and drink some water. Never underestimate the power of good nutrition. If you can’t handle the thought of a full meal, some fruit will suffice for now. But remember what you eat fuels your body, so if you can bring yourself to fitting in a remotely well-balanced meal, you’ll be all the better off.
6. Make a list, pick one, simple task, and get it done. Maybe you have laundry to do and it’s piling up. Maybe you have to wash down the kitchen counter. Maybe you have a worksheet for school. Maybe it’s just making the list. Whatever you need to get done, write it down, and rather than letting that overwhelm you, pick one thing from that list to tick off. Slowly but surely, you will be able to tackle the bigger things.
7. Go for a walk. Getting some fresh air and simple exercise will refresh you without tiring you out. Bring some water, or maybe make it a trip to get some of your favourite snacks and a smoothie from Jamba Juice. If you’re struggling to get up and out, having something nice to look forward too can motivate you.
8. Think of why you’re feeling this way, and then let it go. More often than not, there is a reason you’re struggling to get up and out. Understanding the root of this feeling can help you move past it, tackle it, or keep it from holding you back.
I know this is pretty standard advice, but I think we all need that little reminder every now and again.
