I believe in long covid FOR SURE and I definitely think we're going to see the health-related blowback of repeat covid infections en masse in the coming years but I think that blaming "covid brain damage" for modern issues rooted in systemic problems that have been around for hundreds of years (capitalism, patriarchy, racism, imperialism etc) is so shortsighted.
#I don’t feel it’s that the illness itself is causing society’s collapse#we had to go against our societal norms#isolate from each other#spend all our time at home even just working remotely#not going to the store as often#and whether that living situation was better or worse is irrelevant#what mattered to us was that it was DIFFERENT#we got a taste of something DIFFERENT than a capitalist hellscape#and now that we know that something OTHER than capitalist hellscape is possible if we work together#we crave it SO badly#it’s like escaping an abusive relationship and now we can see all the red flags since we were able to escape for a little bit#THAT’s why it all feels so much more abrasive now#like#we don’t HAVE to be here#but the power and the money and the government all say that we actually do#but we all know now. we’re all wiser to them now.
