Meet the muslim student, Faatimah Knight, who raised $30,000 to help fix churches destroyed by fire

Faatimah Knight is pursuing an MA in Religious Studies at the Chicago Theological Seminary and holds a BA in Islamic Law and Theology from Zaytuna College.

Ms Knight’s campaign – carried out as Muslims around the world marked the festival of Ramadan - followed a smaller, more modest enterprise. 

Days after the shooting dead of nine people at Charleston’s Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church, she and some friends wanted to gather $500 to send flowers; they ended up raising $900.

And when she read about the series of churches that were burned down, Faatimah carried on her quest to help these churches in need. 

“All houses of worship are sanctuaries, a place where all should feel safe, a place we can seek refuge when the world is too much to bear.”

She said that Islam taught of the need to protect the weak and vulnerable. She said while the black Christian communities of the South might not be weak, they were vulnerable.

“Traditionally, when we have been on our best behaviour, we have created space for other faiths, and let people worship as they see fit.”

rant about people talking shit about actors leaving greys (more Katie & Patrick)

People can stop spitting their venom on Katherine Heigl? So it would be true for her to be a diva on set in the last season but not Patrick? There were rumors about Patrick being a diva, not just since that season, I had already read that. Him as Katie had complained about the direction of their characters. They have the right no? When you know the debacle of Izzie & George or Izzie and Denny having sex. (Patrick also had hated this SL)

The two stories are similar but the truth is that Katie and Patrick are not divas. They told Shonda they do not appreciate the direction of their characters (Katie therefore would not want to be nominated for Emmy), the thing we can blame her is for saying the wrong way, Katie apologized!

She began to shoot for the same time a movie & Greys and has to make a choice because at that time, she was trying to connect with her adopted daughter. How to blame her? Patrick says in his interview, it's very hard to have time for his children ...

Katie's haters say how her character did not die while she was a diva. 1. she wasn’t, as I have explained above (she’s still friends with TR, Justin, Kate and in good terms with Patrick & Kevin. Don’t know for the others.

Izzie is not dead but had a terrible exit. Shonda took revenge by writing a Izzie cold, heartless, which is not attached to the family she has created. Patrick had a bad and ridiculous death.Awful exit. It was sloppy writting (but she knew since february. She made Derek a douche then redeeming himself by choosing Meredith & their kids).  The reason? Because they have stood up to Shonda! Shonda doesn’t support that. She has a high opinion of herself. Shondaland is like a sect. You follow her & shut your mouth it’s ok. You confront her, you’re fired!   All the bad departures have something in common : Shonda

TR, Katie, Chyler, Eric (the right time for them, my a**) & now Patrick The good ones : Sandra & Kate (both still friends with Shonda) Isaiah had a “bad” exit because of what he said to TR (Patrick fights him) so Shonda didn’t have a choice. It wasn’t HER choice. She brings him back in a good way!! 

So for me, the problem is Shonda. She forgot, Katie, Patrick, TR... are the part of the success of Grey’s. She’s not a pro. She always influences professional choices by what she personally feels for the actors. Haters gonna hate but think about it before tagging your hate in actor’s tag.
