Christian Julius Mascariñas was the fourth child of Rosette Mascariñas and Juancho Lopez who both don’t have a college degree. He was force to taken care of his grandparents in his early years of existence because his parent could not sustain the needs of his older and younger siblings. Because of this situation, at early age he developed a sense of ambivalence towards his parents. As a reaction formation for this ambivalence, he had trouble communicating with other people especially older than him and was convince that if he meeting the expectation and pleasing the of people will be the most effective way of communicating.

He then became really close with her mother after his father went abroad to find a job and to sustain them. He was very dependent on his mother and he really loved her to the point that he would feel jealous to other siblings. He gets really competitive with his other siblings when it comes to his mothers attention.

During his school years he was admitted in to the same school and grade level with his younger sister who performs better than him at any aspect. This resulted to constant comparing and later became the reason why he had small self-esteem and made him hesitant of his actions in his daily life. He finished his high school at Catalunan grande where he met his future wife Christyl Joy Monjardin. It was her that motivated him to be someone better and the one who showed him his capabilities.

He was interested in law and politics and took psychology as his pre-law in Davao Doctors College. As time went by he began to love Psychology, he deeply understand people and can genuinely help people with this profession. Then later he decided to pursue his career in Psychology and took his masteral and PhD at the University of the Philippines.

He began his career as a researcher of the government about mental health, this exposed him to various catalyst of student’s depression. He then published a book that guides students on their coping with stresses, it became popular internationally and was used by some of the university as part of their student handbook. He became a well-known psychologist of their time and was invited to be part of the American Psychological Association.
