A Livraria Mágica de Paris by Nina George

Quarto livro do ano e já um favorito. Este livro. Oh, meu Deus, este livro. Talvez tenha chegado no momento certo da minha vida, mas acredito que todos deveriam lê-lo. Mais do que um livro sobre livros e bibliotecas, fala de pessoas que significam algo para você, pessoas que o cercam e fazem de você quem você é. Trata-se também de lidar com os sentimentos e a vida. Jean Perdu, o personagem principal do livro, nem sempre é carismático, e, às vezes, você quer sacudi-lo e gritar com ele, mas ainda sim você simpatiza com sua jornada e seus sentimentos. Eu adoraria se existisse uma farmácia literária real com um "doutor de livros" para me dar o livro que eu precisava no momento, porque se há uma coisa que eu tenho certeza na vida é do fato de que alguns livros curam sua alma e você os lê quando você mais precisa. É mágico.

Fourth of the year and already a favorite. This book. Oh, my, this book. Maybe it came at the right time in my life, but I believe everyone should read it. More than a book about books and libraries, it's about people that mean something to you, people that surround you and make you who you are. It's also about dealing with one's feeling and one's life. Jean Perdu, the main character in the book, is not always likable, and sometimes you want to shake him and yell at him, but still, you can sympathize with his journey and his feelings. I would love if there was a real literary pharmacy with a "doctor of books" to give me the book I needed at the time, because if there's one thing I'm certain in life is the fact that some books heal your soul and you read it when you most need it. It's magical.

Placas Tectônicas by Margaux Motin - Review

Oh, to be a woman (or to try to understand one)! I'm not sure if this book has been translated to english yet (it’s a french comic with the original title “La tectonique des plaques”), but it's a great one. When you read it, you feel the confort of knowing you are not alone in your oddities, and that being female is never easy or simple. From break-ups, to moving to a new city, raising a daughter, making and keeping friends, or simply portraiting a day-to-day life, Margaux Motin makes it wonderful and raw. A must read if you like comics, if you are a (mess of a) girl, or if you like a funny-lovely-real thing. ... Ah, ser uma mulher (ou tentar entender uma)! Enquando você lê esse livro, você sente o conforto de saber que você não está sozinho em suas esquisitices, e que ser mulher nunca é fácil ou simples. De términos, para mudar-se para uma nova cidade, criar uma filha, fazer e manter amigos, ou simplesmente retratar o dia-a-dia, Margaux Motin torna tudo maravilhoso e nu. Você deve ler se você gosta de quadrinhos, se você é uma (louca) menina, ou se você gosta de uma coisa engraçada-adorável-real.

Já pesquisei e sei que a Marhaux (olha a intimidade) escreveu/desenhou mais dois livros, agora é torcer pra Nemo publicar! <3

Four Weddings and a Sixpence: An Anthology - Review

Hello, stranger!

I decided this year to write a review about every book that caught my eye. So buckle up and follow me! And the first of the year (or should I say: the last of last year) is Four Weddings and a Sixpence: An Anthology!

Written by  Julia Quinn, Elizabeth Boyle, Stefanie Sloane and Laura Lee Guhrke, it’s a story about four childhood friends that found a lucky sixpence, supposedly to help them find husbands. Each short story is from a different author, but they are all linked - somewhat.

Good points: easy reading, heart warming romance, some likable characters and I always dig stories about friendship.

Bad points: sometimes the story drags (and hey, they are short stories!), some characters were just really annoying and I missed seeing more of the  characters hopping between the stories.

Should you read it? Well, that’s up to you!

In the end: 3 out 5 stars.

Olá, estranho!

Eu decidi, este ano, escrever uma análise/crítica sobre cada livro que eu ler. Então prepare-se e junte-se a mim! E o primeiro do ano (ou devo dizer: o último do ano passado) foi  Four Weddings and a Sixpence: An Anthology (ainda sem tradução para o português, mas algo como “Quatro casamentos e um sixpence: uma antologia”)!

Escrito por Julia Quinn, Elizabeth Boyle, Stefanie Sloane e Laura Lee Guhrke, é uma história sobre quatro amigas de infância que encontram um sixpence (moeda britânica) da sorte, supostamente para ajudá-las a encontrar maridos. Cada conto é de uma autora diferente, mas todos estão ligados - um pouco.

Pontos positivos: leitura fácil, romance de aquecer corações, alguns personagens simpáticos e, além disso, eu adoro histórias sobre amizade.

Pontos ruins: às vezes a história se arrasta (e ei, eles são histórias curtas!), alguns personagens eram bem irritantes e eu senti falta de ver mais dos personagens participando das outras histórias.

Se você deveria lê-lo? Bem, isso é com você!

No final: 3 de 5 estrelas.
