big fan of stories that, while undoubtedly being about the power of friendship, acknowledge that the power of incredible violence is just as important
the love was there. the love changed everything. the crowbar helped also

a lot of people scoff at transmascs for not wanting to be friends with people who say stuff like "kill all men" and "i hate men" but what i think a lot of people dont seem to grasp is that when you're transmasc, and one if your friends says something like that, it leaves two possibilities:
a) your friend doesnt see you as a man (which is just straight up transphobia)
or
b) your friend hates you. and idk about you, but i generally require all of my friends to like me. thats kind of just, a baseline requirement for friendship, i think.
but moreover specifically they hate you for being a man. and i think what a lot of people have trouble wrapping their brains around is the fact that, when you're a trans man, and someone says they hate you specifically for being a man, what theyre saying is that they hate you for transitioning. they're saying they would like you better if you hadn't transitioned. they'd like you better if you were cis. which yes, is also transphobia. but also for many of us, (not all, but many) there is no universe in which we would have survived not transitioning.
in my case, i had pretty frequent suicidal thoughts all throughout my life, up until i transitioned. once i reached a certain point in my transition, my suicidal thoughts disappeared. i never had another suicidal thought except when i was put in a situation where i was being denied transitional care. so if i had never transitioned, i would be suicidal if not dead. so when someone says they hate me for being a man, what i hear is "i would like you better if you were dead (or barring that, suicidal)"

The Cinirn Rane Masterpost
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Going to slowly start to introduce all my OCs, and we're going to start with Cinirn since I've worked on him the most recently.
Cinirn Rane was born into nobility in Divinity's Reach. From a young age, he had a gift for necromancy, something that he and his family believed to be a blessing from Grenth. As a result, he spent time outside of his noble schooling and duties training with priests of Grenth, honing his craft and becoming stronger.
When he reached his early teens, the true force behind his gift made himself known: Dhuum, the fallen god of death imprisoned in the Underworld centuries ago. Dhuum had only been able to muster the strength to choose Cinirn as his conduit, but over time, Cinirn's training provided him with enough power for communication. He spoke to Cinirn, told him of his struggles, and shaped within him the desire to retake Tyria in Dhuum's name.
Cinirn chose to follow Dhuum, earning him the title of 'Chosen', traveling across Tyria in the guise of "broadening his horizons" and "continuing his schooling" to allow Dhuum to act on the world through him. Some of his actions were direct: finding material related to Grenth, Desmina, and the Seven Reapers, casting curses upon sects of especially devoted followers of Grenth, or creating shrines and holy sites concealed in the depths of the world. Some of his actions were indirect: as he grew stronger, Dhuum was able to carry out his own will through him. As time went on, Cinirn's soul fell more and more into Dhuum's hands, though he didn't realize the extent of this until much later.
When his family's expectations of him brought his travels to an end and brought him back to Divinity's Reach, he had to figure out new ways to continue his journey, which brought him to the Durmand Priory. There, he met Glaisne Nightwalker, a soldier in the Mists War who had been corrupted and partly possessed by the Mists themselves, who had been moved to the Priory's care through the Pact Commander Tamaren's efforts. Glaisne, possessing a heightened sensitivity to magical influences, particularly those of malice, immediately recognized Dhuum's ill intent (though not Dhuum himself) and tried to kill Cinirn. This sparked an intense hatred between the two.
Cinirn kept returning to the Priory to provoke him while continuing his studies into Dhuum and the Underworld in secret, and Glaisne denied him as often as he could. Eventually, mutual attraction led to an "enemies with benefits" arrangement between them. However, as time passed, the hatred grudgingly faded. Their clashes and arguments slowly showed Cinirn that Dhuum's path was wrong. He was now keenly aware of just how much control Dhuum had over him and his soul, and began searching for ways to escape.
When Glaisne was approved for discharge from the Priory's care, Cinirn, in an effort to keep Glaisne close to him, requested that Glaisne become his personal guard, using his status as a noble as an excuse to need one. Unbeknownst to him, Glaisne shared his growing attachment, and agreed to go with Cinirn back to Divinity's Reach. They continued their affair, and one night, they confessed their love for each other and began a secret relationship -- secret because Cinirn's parents would not permit an apolitical partnership for their only child.
Not long after, Cinirn was traveling alone to one of the shrines he had constructed near Grenth's Door in Lornar's Pass in an attempt to destroy it. However, when he approached, Dhuum reached into the world and dragged him down into the Underworld's Hall of Chains, where he admonished Cinirn for his betrayals and forcibly took over his body to force him to fight the party of raiders led by Commander Tamaren and the spirit of First Follower Desmina that was trying to reseal Dhuum. In his last moments of independence, Cinirn begged for death and swore that he did not want to fight.
Tamaren indeed granted Cinirn a swift end. When her blade struck his heart, Dhuum's control lapsed long enough for Cinirn to fling himself onto the River of Souls, where he died before falling off into the abyss. No mortal had ever died on the River before, and Cinirn's body and soul found themselves taken to the Realm of Torment, where he was transformed into a titan in the Foundry of Failed Creations under the watchful eyes of Ura, Decima, and Greer. Decima, who was the most fond of him among the three, named him Ataraxia the Rimespeaker after his icy nature -- a side effect from dying in the snowy halls of the Underworld. When the titans began their foray into Tyria, Cinirn was moved to the depths of Mount Balrior to continue his transformation. However, because of the difference in conditions between Tyria and the Foundry, the transformation was halted before its completion, and Cinirn retained some of his humanoid features when he was discovered by Tamaren, Glaisne, and Tamaren's close friend Narrassi Smolderpaw of the Blood Legion. By this time, his imprisonment and mutation in the Realm of Torment had distorted his perception of the world around him, even covering his eyes with titanflesh, so he attacked out of fear. When a strike from Glaisne's sword shattered the titanflesh covering his eyes, he regained his senses and returned to the embrace of his love.
After a contentious exchange with Tamaren and Narrassi, the three brought Cinirn back to Tamaren's homestead, where he is still recovering and dealing with the implications of his existence and state of being.
