Just rewatched Logan... You mean to tell me that when Charles discusses remembering about the accident in Westchester, when he implies he has lost control of his powers for the first time, clearly hurting people, it wasn't due to Erik's death? Because it's obvious there is no Erik anymore in 2029, or he would be there either to take care of Charles or rip the humans apart for testing on children.

For me it's canon that Charles' deteriorating mental control is due to Erik not being in the same world anymore. I will die on this hill! This is why when Zander Rice asks Caliban what disease Charles has, Caliban doesn't say anything back. Because Charles has no disease, he's just heartbroken. He's just a Charles without his Erik.
