Among the secrets of fasting and its traces is being raised on piety, for indeed, Allah did not make this worship a religious duty so that we would be tortured by it, or so that we would be wounded of face treat difficulty by refraining from what we desire. It was mentioned in the Qudsiyy hadith that was narrated by al-Bukhariyy from the route of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah accept his deeds, what means: "Every good deed of the son of Adam is multiplied; one good deed is multiplied from 10 to 700 times except fasting; it is usually done only for the sake of Allah, and Allah rewards generously for it. The person fasting leaves his food and his desires for the sake of Allah. The person fasting has two delights: a delight upon breaking his fasting, and a delight on Judgment Day; and indeed, the fasting person's changed breath is judged by Allah as more fragrant than the smell of musk. Fasting is a shield." As for his delight in the earthly life when breaking his fasting when completing fasting that day because his strength returns to him, he will be delighted by: the endowment of Allah for enabling him to fast that day, and the endowment of Allah upon him by enabling him to consume the good that Allah made lawful for him. As for the second delight, it is on Judgment Day. He will be delighted with what he finds of the everlasting bliss in the abode of peace. Those who fasted will be called from one of the gates of Paradise that is specific for those who used to fast.
