Mythos Prelude

Hello! We're here today to bring you a major announcement.

We just released a free short story taking place in the Mythos world. Mythos Prelude — Episode Jackie is an anthology of short stories detailing the past of our future main protagonist, Jackie!

The first chapter of the first story is available now on several platforms. We'll be updating weekly on Saturdays. Go give it a look on your site of choice!

I'll stop bringing it up here after this, but a reminder that we've set up a new askblog! With the above introductions done, we're officially ready to answer your burning Mythos questions, so make sure to go give it a look!

Meet the Cast!

With our own introductions out of the way, let's introduce our four main cast members. Conveniently, each of them was created by one of the mods, so we'll go through them the same way.

Mod Caide: Jackie is (or, at least, quickly becomes) the leader of the group and is more or less the main protagonist of the story, though all four of them share that role. They're an excessively outgoing, bold, and flirtatious person with plenty of wit and charisma to spare. Obscured beneath their outgoing and chaotic nature is an attentive and calculating, occasionally even cold person. Jackie isn't afraid to solve things with violence, and they'll do just about anything for the one thing they truly care about—their friends. I look forward to sharing much more about my favorite genderless chaos gremlin with you all in due time.

Mod Kj: Strade's booming personality is shown by his witty remarks and unsavory decision making skills. In combat, he is a highly aggressive fighter and will do anything to win and get his way. While he is coarse and quick to come to conclusions, he is also a very hearty person in times of peace. A sociable man to his core, he thrives on the companionship of others, he cherishes the bond he has with the members of his group. Strade's quick witted remarks can also come out as offensive and belligerent, sometimes in the least appropriate situations, like dire moments where a wrong word can mean losing a hand.

Mod Tag: Sam fills more of a support role in the group's function. He's a quick learner, inquisitive, and a self taught healer. Sam prefers to stay out of the way in combat, favoring his bow over aggressive melee fighting, and that sentiment extends to most social situations. To those close to him, Sam's an eternal optimist who believes in the best of others, but outside of his circle, he can seem reserved and protective. He presents himself as simply a helping hand, though perhaps there's more to Sam than even he's aware of.

Mod Trilo: Helena is the Team Best Girl! Also, She's Sam's older sister and truly the heart of the group. She's kind, caring, and loveable. However, she's also firecely protective of the Humans, and she feels responsible for whatever happens to them. She's physically the strongest of the group, and uses her impressive strength to defend the people she loves. Outside of her role as a protector, she's an excellent confidant, and she loves to stay busy with whatever tasks need doing - hunting, cooking, building, mending.... she's a powerhouse and she's good at it! I love her very much <3

Introducing: the Mythos Askblog!

Greetings everyone! I've done a poor job at frequently posting as usual, but this time I've been working away at things behind the scenes. Some of those projects are still staying under wraps, but I do have one big thing to announce, which you've probably already guessed based on the header.

I've created a Mythos askblog (@mythos-asks) in cooperation with @pep-tides, @tagarooni, and @kjtabor. We hope to collectively use this as a place to build a larger audience for and community around Mythos, and to make much more frequent posts about it.

The new blog will focus primarily on Q&A, where you can either direct questions to us, the creators, or to our characters. Hooray for hybrid formats! We'll also use it as a place for fun/silly stuff like memes, shitposts, doodles, etc.

With the new blog going up, this one is going to maintain a more formal tone and be reserved primarily for official announcements and the like. Make sure to keep an eye here for important stuff, but you'll absolutely want to follow the new blog for your primary dosage of Mythos content.

I'm looking forward to putting a lot more of Mythos out into the world via the new blog, and I foresee it being a lot of fun. Once again, it's @mythos-asks, so make sure to give it a follow!

Ser Narkais, the Vespid

Meet Ser Narkais, commander of the Akkhilian Raiders and one of the side characters you'll all eventually get to meet in the Mythos series. This wonderful art is a commission by a Fiverr artist named Vivek! You can find their profile here.

Now, I've no clue when I'll actually be able to make the main story of Mythos, and even then it'll be a long while before we get to the part where Narkais here first appears. That's just way too long to wait, isn't it?

Enough beating around the bush: I'm about to release the second short story in the Tales of Mythos series. This next one will feature Ser Narkais as the protagonist, as well as a cameo from one of the series' main characters. Look forward to another post when the story releases sometime in the coming week!

Wiki Update

You may remember that there was previously a post and link on the blog for a Mythos Wiki, both of which have since been deleted. The wiki was previously hosted on Fandom, but I decided to delete it for two reasons:

The wiki contained a large amount of information that I no longer wished to make public now that I'm going forward with the short stories, as I'd instead like the community to be able to form and build up that information naturally.

Fandom sucks as both a platform and a company for a variety of reasons and I no longer wished to use or associate with it.

That said, I do still really like the idea of a wiki as a method of organizing information, and so I decided to make a new one.

The new Mythos Wiki is based on Miraheze, and you can find it at mythos.miraheze.org! It's in very early stages but I plan to continually update it as I release more Mythos content. If anyone else wanted to help contribute to it (especially if you know anything about CSS, which I do not), feel free as well.

It's oddly fun filling out articles while citing my own works and pretending I don't know the things I know...

Big Announcement — Short Stories, Blog Update, and more

Hello everyone! I've returned from my previous hiatus and have a few things to announce, so let's get right into those. Starting with...

Tales of Mythos

I have decided to start writing and self-publishing short stories taking place in the world of Mythos. These might feature past events form the lore and history of the world, backstories for major characters, stories focused on some of the side characters, etc.

I think these will be a great way to build out the world and stretch my creative muscles until I have the skills/funding/manpower/etc to produce the webcomic.

The short stories will all be part of a collective series known as Tales of Mythos. I'll self-publish each of the stories on Amazon's e-book store, so keep an eye out for future releases.

On that note, the first entry in the Tales of Mythos series is already out! Of Monsters and Men follows the story of a Human wizard and his encounter with a terrifying monster known as a Carrion. Go check it out now if you're interested!

Blog Updates

I've gone through and edited most of the old posts on the blog to give things a more professional tone in light of the new short story series.

For the same reason, I've also decided to be a bit stricter with what information to release publicly, as I'd prefer for the community to be able to naturally develop and learn about the world and lore as I release more stories.

I will try to maintain the somewhat professional tone here from now on, but don't worry, it'll still be the same old me behind the wheel.

Having the stories to work on should help me with my ever-present motivation issues and ensure you guys get more art and more posts in general here as I put more time and focus into Mythos stuff.

I have one more thing to report, but I can't actually talk about it yet. I didn't want to postpone this big announcement when everything else is already prepared, so expect to see another post somewhat soon about this.

Big Announcement Time!

That's right, everyone, your favorite occasionally-active artist/blogger is moving up in the world. I'm entering the big leagues. You guessed it: I'm selling my art for money! Woohoo!

I've set up a storefront over on Redbubble, which you can find here. It's currently quite small, with just a few chibi renditions of my characters, but I plan to expand it greatly. I'm hoping this will really help me keep up the motivation to actually do the whole art thing.
