One of those fandom things that I love is when there’s new characters around and, with the unwavering confidence of an old farmer appraising cattle, fanfic authors take one good look at them, tilt their imaginary hat, and go “Aye. Praise kink, that one. Mighty case of praise kink if I ever saw one.” And everyone else just “aye.”

A strong start.

I just reada really good fic but halfway through I realized "oh shit this is really familiar.... didn't I write something like this once?" And as I kept reading I kept predicting what happened next and the further I went the more convinced I was that they'd ripped off my story-

like, copied the ENTIRE plot and re-written it, just better than I had? The characters were more fleshed-out than mine were, and the POV was more interesting, and the pace made more sense- but it was MY STORY?

So close to the end I was like "holy shit.. do I message them? Ask if my story inspired theirs? Should I be angry? Flattered?" Cause their tags and description didn't mention me AT ALL, which, sure, it's fanfiction to begin with, but if you're using my work than at least credit me as inspo, right? Just to be courteous?

But I get to the end of the final chapter, and it's not finished, and I'm kind of disappointed cause I never finished my story and I was really immersed in their version now and had been looking forwards to seeing how they tied up my loose ends- so I scroll to the bottom to leave a comment, and.

Fuckin' realized that Natsu could be an idiot and say "well of course erza can cross the barrier, she's the Queen of the Fairies"

Thus stopping everyone's crisis about Erza on its fucking tracks lmao

Mystogan is just fucking sweating bullets the whole time, but it actually gives him the perfect cover story as to why he doesn't interact with the guild and why he hides his face. Because he's a runaway royal, which is half true with the only lie being the omission of Edolas. So Fairy Tail is just ready to randomly throw down with a random unknown country for Mystogan

Ok but imagine throwing Erza into the the mix because of her relation to Irene. And if it's set in just the Fairy Tail Guild on a random Tuesday, toss in Mystogen who's canonically an actual Prince back in Edolas. Same with Carla!

Four people walk into a room with a barrier that prevents none royals from entering, 3/4 of them are confused while the 4th is sweating buckets and hoping no one notices nor cares enough in comparison to the other three realizing they're royalty to some capacity or by some technicality.

Now I'm just imagining Natsu entering the Royals Only Room for the buffet tables, not noticing the stunned Royals. Erza walks in after him to pull him out of the room much to more shock to those poor royals.

Then it becomes a game for the Fairy Tail Wizards to see who's apparently somehow royalty because a lot of them are orphans to some capacity anyways.

Hell, have this happen in an alternate scenario of the Post-Eclipse Dragon Attack Banquet and have all six guilds have members trying to enter the room. It's a series of comedic disappointment but even more comedic shock, but none of it is more shocking than Natsu somehow being royalty.

"Well, yeah. My dad's the King of the Fire Dragons," Natsu says like he's talking about the fucking weather.

Erza doesn't comment because she's bluescreening, it only makes her wonder more about her own past further back before she was even born because how?

If Carla also tests her luck on the barrier (with probing from Wendy and Happy), she just has a crisis because goddammit how didn't she see it?

Fanfic Thieves on YouTube: A New Grift

So one of the content farm channels stealing fics has an ao3 now and last night they commented on Butterfly asking to make money off it while paying me in exposure.

I confronted them on discord and asked how they had the audacity to ask the people they stole from to use their hard work to line his pockets without even apologizing. Long story short, I gave them an ultimatum to post a public apology on their youtube channel to prove they actually care about doing the right thing and aren’t just a grifter telling me what I want to hear for money. And they asked me to write the apology, TO ME, for them.

I should have asked if their mommy still wipes their ass for them too.

Anyway, DNWhatif is a lazy grifter who has not changed their ways, the only reason they’re asking permission now is because all the DMCA strikes on stolen content have started eating into their revenue. Don’t let them profit off of your work as a writer. And if you have to interact with them, tell them to go fuck themselves.
