”I think that depends on the universe, friend! If you want to fit in as a local, you need to switch it up fairly often. Furry, beastfolk, anthromal, some prefer not to be differentiated at all, if you can believe it!”

Phi laughs a bit. She always enjoyed recounting her experiences across universes.

“Anydoodle, I forgot to ask. Are you a kind of beast folk? I’ve never seen a humanoid with cephalopod features before!”

“-Beastfolk? Oh! It’s a folk that well, is a beast! Some universes refer to us as ‘furries’… which I find confusing, because we don’t all have fur. I mean, duh.”

“Thank you very much, sir! Ok, so, where should I start… dragonids! So many types of dragonids! Wyverns, Western, Dragonborn, Eastern, Fluffy, Mountain Dragons- My favorite are fluffy dragons! They’re so polite! AND fluffy, of course! Sadly endangered though, can you believe i-“

”Telling people about it is my specialty! It’s the study of magical creatures and beings! It’s incredibly fun, I will always recommend cracking open a beastiary!”

Phi hops in place.

“I’m a field worker, so I work with my guild to study magic, well, in the field!”

Phi shakes her head. The sad boring studies off of other universes. They don’t even have mythozoology.

“…BUT MEDICINE AND STUFF IS VERY IMPORTANT TOO-^^”

“What kind of research do you do here? Do you like mythozoology? Or is it more alchemy…?”

”Coo-?” Phi looks up from her journal, staring at Leo before turning to an extremely apologetic demeanor.

“I’m so so sorry to intrude, sir!! I’m Phi, I’m with the beastiary guild? I catalogue monsters across universes!… and I seem to have stumbled into the wrong one… the target universe was inhabited by small beastfolk…”

Phi taps a foot thoughtfully…

“Anywho-!” She spins forward, offering a feathery wing to him.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you!”

”You can’t even ask draconics if they’re cold blooded anymore! Because of WOKE!!!”

”Then that way we go!” Phi coos back, hopping after his directions. She had a slight bob to her walk, like a hurried dove.

🪶 Closed Starter 🪶 Griffin Watching! 🪶

Phi continued to set up her equipment on the roof she was perched on. Binoculars? Check! Log books? Check! Snacks? Check!

She had to be the first in her guild to officially study city griffins! It was an exciting challenge.

The pigeon sits on her small cushion, pulling the binoculars to her beak. She looked back and forth, checking every alley for the tail of a raccoon or the wing of a magpie…

Maybe her luck would pick up soon? ✨

Phi coos at the moving shelves, looking around before turning back to Rune.

“That’s ok! Sometimes the best thing to be doing is your own unique thing!”

A bright glowing circle appears on the wall of the library. The portal sits for a second before a a short bird folk comes flying through with an excited laugh! They land on the tiled floor, dusting the chalk off their scarf with a white feathered wing.

Phi peers at their surroundings with a sly smile! Seemed inhabited! Probably a pocket universe…

Once again they're busy sorting books for the.......they should really count how many times they've done this. It's still as engrossing to them as ever as they don't notice the bright circle, and is gleefully sucked into their work until they hear the laugh.

Head quickly turning, they wonder, another guest? How do so many people get in here without me noticing??? Though I don't mind the company...
