it’s basically him napping with several photos in the background of memorable events from the series imo. I wanted to add more pictures, but my tablet threatened to crash on me so ;-;

to me, this felt apt for a DTIYS because other artists can take creative liberties with the pics in the background and draw the moments that were memorable to them :D

I think a lot of autistic taking-things-literally goes under the radar because what the diagnostic tests and shit ask about is not what that generally looks like in an adult and often not in kids either and much more importantly it’s not what generally actually causes problems in real life instead of being irritating for caretakers or funny to bullies or easy to diagnose

I have absolutely no issues understanding metaphors or idioms. When someone says their heart is on their sleeve they mean they’re emotionally expressive and openly display their feelings, not that they have a chunk of cardiac tissue on their shirt. I very rarely have issues with sarcasm. I sometimes have issues telling when someone who’s said something mean is about to say “just kidding”, but tbh I think that’s more on them than me.

BUT

My grandmother asked me “Do you know when the trash was taken out last?” and I said “I think Eliot took it out yesterday” and a few hours later she yelled at me for “not taking out the trash when I asked you to” and I was like???? You didn’t ask me????

I dread filling out forms and am crap at filling out diagnostic tests or personality quizzes because there are always questions I don’t know the exact answers to (how am I supposed to know what day I got dental surgery seven years ago?) or don’t understand exactly what they’re asking or the wording’s unclear and they could mean this or the wording says this but I’m pretty sure what they actually meant was this and should I answer what they said or what they meant, and how does everyone else just whip through the form when surely they can’t know all the answers either? Does everyone else remember the day they got dental surgery seven years ago?

I get tangled up by bureaucracy because the rules on the website say that for this you need that and for that you need the other and for the other you need something else for which you need the first thing, and I go in circles for hours or days or weeks or months or years because their stated rules say there is no way to get what I need, and when I talk to somebody else they’re like “just call them?” and I’m like “how could that help? the rules say that what I’m trying to do is impossible”

And all of that? That’s how “taking things literally” ACTUALLY affects your life as an adult. It’s not “haha you think ‘getting under your skin’ means parasites”. It’s “you have real difficulty functioning in the world because everyone else is conveying things through implication and assuming that you know that rules are flexible and questions are approximate and you’re supposed to lie on job applications, and you don’t”.

Continuing my discussion about my personal crusade against the French language, I personally choose to treat French as a really elaborate conlang an entire nation just chose to create and collectively speak.

Exhibit A:

"Un petit d'un petit

S'étonne aux Halles

This poem literally translates to:

"A child of a child

But if you read this poem in French, it's just f*cking Humpty Dumpty.

It's also worth noting that the dirty French language somehow made its way to Britain, which I thought hated the French. You have words like "passport", "salad", even the word "goddamn" has its roots in French.

Then you have the words that don't even pretend to be English. Those exhibitionist freaks. You got facade, coup (from coup d'état), deja vu, etc. I get it—both languages are basically sister languages, with both languages, to my knowledge, having been derived from latin after the fall of the (Western) Roman Empire, but damn it, this is another level of incest.

I hate the French language. So should you

P.S: To be fair, France is a treasure trove of artistic inspiration. However, one needs only to look at my examples (and the correct pronunciation of the word "croissant") to figure out why I hate the French language, which is essentially the English language's more pompous sister.

P.P.S: Also who the f*ck eats snails? Isn't France the nation of being fancy? They made an entire cartoon/book about a "fancy" girl being a francophile, and one of their best known dishes is cooked f*cking snail? Aren't the French also the ones who stuck their language into 90% of culinary terms? Goodness...

a feel like the new generation of fanfic readers NEED to understand that clicking on a fic (interaction) does nothing. ao3 has no algorithm. your private discord discussions of fic do not reach the authors. if you do not actively engage with writers they will stop posting. this isn’t social media this is community.

These laws also apply to Chinese Ao3 writers, who are being forced to delete their fics and close their accounts. If we sit back and let this happen, monolingual Chinese speakers may loose all access to queer content.

The tactics the Chinese gov is using to arrest these people are highly illegal (there is no confirmation, but blackmail and manipulation are highly suspected)

honestly if I ever received such a comment I’d probably be distraught- like just leave us alone and let us write in peace. We don’t mean to harm anyone and yet here we are getting scammed and trolled and whatnot.

like- I personally look out for constructive criticism in my fic comments, and to me it would have felt well-meaning at first. I probably would have been harsher on my self critique while writing which would just burn me out inevitably

now it’s difficult to keep an eye out for stuff like this and discern which is genuine and which is… not.

People like these just like to take the joy away from fic-writing.
