Keep us (O Lord) on the right path, the path of those upon whom You have bestowed Your bounties, not (the path) of those, inflicted with Your wrath, nor (of those) gone astray. [Al Faatiha 1:6-7]

Allah, the Almighty, has said:
''O Son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O Son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O Son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins as great as the earth, and were you then to face Me ascribing no partners to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it''.
[Tirmidhi]

Don’t be fooled by the recitation of Qur’an for it’s only words we utter. Rather, look at the one who acts upon it.

Shaykh Saalih Ibn Fawzan (may Allah preserve him) said: أنا لم أعد نفسي من العلماء وما زلت طالب علم مبتدئ وأدعو ربي فأقول: (رب زدني علماً) وفي الأثر أو الحكمة: مَنْ قال أنا عالم فهو جاهل، فأعوذ بالله أن أقول إني عالم. "I don’t consider myself from the scholars, I am still a student of knowledge, a beginner, and I call upon my Lord and say ‘O My Lord increase me in knowledge” and in the (well known) narrations or wise sayings it is said “Whoever says that he is a scholar then he is ignorant’, so I seek refuge that I say I am a scholar.”

بـسـم الله والحـمـد لله والـصلاة والـسـلام عــلى رسـول الله، وبـعـد
Bilaal bin Sa`d رحمه الله said:
"Righteous deeds are not accepted along with (these) three things:
1. Shirk (major and minor). 2. Kufr, 3. Opinion.”
He was asked: “what is ‘opinion’”?
He said: “Ignoring the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم and acting upon one’s own opinion.”
