Will you post more art?

Dear anonymous person who keeps requesting artwork (specifically of cruel prince characters)

I am very flattered that you like my art and want more!! However my hobbies have hobbies and currently I’m not drawing any fanart. I’m not even reading the cruel prince/folk of the air right now due to an insane TBR shelf I’m trying to empty this year. I won’t say never! I’ll get back to drawing again eventually (I’m doing a lot of fiber/textile arts currently and between reading and quilting drawing is definitely on the backboard) but for now it isn’t a priority. I do enjoy drawing fairies and I love Holly Black’s world of murder and glamour. When she released the prisoners throne and a stolen air that also inspired me, so if more books are released I will probably be drawing fanart like a madlad…and anytime I reread the series I might draw more. But I don’t take commissions or requests. I draw stuff for myself when I feel like it and share it (hoping on the off chance some else likes it) it is very sweet and flattering that other people enjoy my take on characters! So thank you! But this isn’t an art blog…not really. Honestly I don’t know what kind of blog it is at all. ❤️🌸🧚‍♀️

I’ve just started watching doctor who and boy oh boy!!! I know it’s extremely popular (popular for decades) but I grew up in the type of household where watching something like doctor who just wasn’t an option. So I’m watching it now as a grown up moved out adult wishing kid me could have experienced this a decade ago.

I started in season three with the lovely Martha Jones and David Tenant as the Doctor. Was that the right spot to start, who knows? All my knowledge of Doctor Who came from tumblr posts I read on Pinterest as a sixteen year old.

I am going to back up and watch the stuff with Rose because that seems very important. And the most fun thing of Doctor Who seems to be that it’s wibbly wobbly timey wimey

But GUYS why is it so good? It’s so awesome!!The doctor is a mad lad gremlin. He doesn’t seem to know what sex is but he kisses people anyway. He’s simultaneously the Least Attractive, Sexiest Man I’ve ever seen. He’s killed hundreds of people but also saved thousands of millions. Every episode sounds like it would be a fake, made up type of episode parodying a real tv show. There’s aliens, there’s historical figures. I loved the titanic episode because it was like, what if we plagiarized history but there were aliens this time? And it was so good! I love the titanic and my husband loves sci-fi

Don’t get me started on the master. Like, straight up this man is a mass murderer but his rizzle is too razzle. He gives off the energy of a ten year old. He has a playlist lined up for killing the president. He died out of spite just because he can. I loved him so much and couldn’t even feel bad about it. Who is this diva? I literally cannot articulate the feelings I have towards the doctor and the masters dynamic!! I understand the fangirl keyboard smash that was insanely popular in the 2010s. Screaming! Crying! Throwing up! Ajdndbehsjsjshdjjdsjajajhhhh

I probably have things massively spoiled for myself starting in the middle and backing up and also reading stuff on the internet, but the show is so chaotic who knows if the spoilers matter? Where do they apply? I know too much and I know nothing.

I could probably go on and on, there is just too much to think about and cover but I’m having the time of my life. It’s not like any other show I’ve ever seen, I can understand why it is so popular! I Can’t Wait to keep watching and figuring stuff out as I go along. It’s been awhile since I’ve been excited about watching a tv show at all so it’s so nice to have something to fangirl over!!

My husband said he kept forgetting that Dracula was the bad guy. And I was like, yeah that’s the point. What I love so much about Dracula (the novel) is that Dracula (the character) acts like a normal person (for the most part) when he’s being especially horrible to Jonathan. Yes the supernatural elements are there, but what makes Dracula such an evil villain to me is what he does in the capacity of a regular man. He uses etiquette to trap Jonathan. He pretends destroying letters is fine (when they both know it’s not) the manipulation Dracula does to Jonathan throughout his stay at the castle is what makes Dracula scary to me. Because anybody could do that (and they do.)

And how do they defeat Dracula in the end? Through friendship. Through communication. Obviously there is still that supernatural element, but they couldn’t have pulled it off if the Harker’s had stayed isolated. And that is how normal life people get out from under abusive and manipulative relationships. By communication, and friends supporting friends. Anyway I just think it’s really cool.

I’ve been reading Dracula daily out loud for my husband this year (he’s never read Dracula daily before) and I was very excited to do a southern accent for Quincy. Honestly reading it out loud has been a lot of fun and put fresh life into the experience! Except I can’t do Dracula’s accent without doing this hand gesture 🤌 ����💀💀

It’s so frustrating to me (and also hilarious) that the culture at large thinks Dracula is this sexy lady killer (pun not intended but it works) when he literally has THREE GIRLFRIENDS who all think he’s a loser. They’re like “ew you won’t let us play with your new lawyer at least did you bring us our uber eats order” why do I feel like they constantly roast him?

And he doesn’t bring a single one with him to his new country/house/roadtrip he was like…maybe better luck in a new country. And when Mina sees him for the first time she’s like…ew. Who is that ugly, creepy looking guy? If he even walks in this direction I will throw hands.

Sigh. And then we have this stupid idea circulating that somehow Mina is his One True Love that will somehow redeem/save him/make his life better…when book Mina is more than happy to personally wring his stupid neck.

Also while I’m at it it drives me crazy that people act like Lucy is a more “slutty” character for liking Dracula when BOOK LUCY and BOOK DRACULA have a dynamic waaayyy closer to a chronic illness then some steamy romance. And also rude, like one girl is condemned for thinking he’s hot but somehow it’s ok that the other girl likes him because of stupid fate or something???

I dunno I was actually spared a lot of Dracula media growing up because my mom didn’t do vampires. Jokes on her I’m now obsessed with THE vampire book and they fascinate me as a whole.

To conclude Dracula fumbles constantly and isn’t some sexy, suave example of perfection-he’s a looser who can’t even get help doing the dishes. But movies can’t handle that so…we’re stuck with just…bad movies that completely ignore the romantic gold that is between Jonathan and Mina. They’re too powerful I guess and the film industry is afraid of a positive ride or die vampire hunting couple😭

Ever thought of doing art of Vivi and Heather?

Honestly not really. Vivi is one of the characters that I can see vividly in my head and when that is the case I am never satisfied with what I draw. It’s been a while since I’ve read the folk of the air, but every time I reread it I find new characters I want to draw. So it’s possible I could draw them in the future…but unlikely.

I will say I am also less likely to draw fanart for a character when I see good art for them by other people (especially if other artists draw them better than I ever could and they look exactly how I saw them) and I have seen cute art for Vivi and Heather when they are taking care of Oak.

I will say I feel bad for Heather as a character and thought she deserved better. I felt like Vivi was playing human and using Heather to add to that illusion—the way that she treated Heather while they were in faerie was also just very careless and the communication was 😬😬😬😬😬😬. You’d think Vivi would be more responsible when she grew up right next to her human sisters literally IN FAERIE.

I think my favorite thing about Jonathan Harker is he’s a wife guy before he’s even married to his wife. And it just goes uphill from there

He’s so precious I hope his friend Dracula helps him get those recipes and explains the local superstitions so he’ll have fun stuff to bring home to his beautiful wife after he completes his perfectly normal business trip

I did some quick sketches of the six greenbrier heirs. I’m really happy with how Dain looks. It’s interesting to think about Carden’s sisters, who are barely described. Drawing art for them is going to be hard so I focused on Rhyia as I feel we have the most information on her. I decided her animal trait should be owl eyes/bird of prey eyes. Eldred is mentioned to have eyes similar to an owl. It’s interesting to think which features the children would inherit from their dad vs mom. She’s described as a huntress and Jude looks up to her, vivi and Taryn hang out with her. The first picture is what I think she’d wear to the tournament, the second outfit is her at the coronation. I added feather details to her corset because Jude said Rhyia’s blue dress reminded her of a bird.

Which sister should I do next and any suggestions for their animal trait? Also the fandom wiki says that Elowyn has green hair and gold skin??? Where in the book does it say that? I haven’t read it in a while but I didn’t see it while I skimmed for descriptions.

Can you please make more fanart for folk of the air? Like the Greenbriar princess or Eldred?

I’ve had tumblr for about three years and I don’t realize I got messages. Hopefully the person who asked for more fanart is still out there! I didn’t mean to ignore you!

Here’s fanart I made a year ago for the stolen heir and prisoners throne. I did folded Victorian puzzle purses (which are tricky to make but very rewarding, as they fold out revealing more and more art). Some of it isn’t that good if I’m being honest but it was really fun to draw.

I will say I felt like Holly black changed Wrens hair color between the two books (which is why her hair color goes from dark to light) also was it just me or did Oriana randomly get wings?

Anybody else read sunrise on the reaping in one sitting the day you bought the book and then spent three business days feeling like that one Ophelia painting? Because I have so many thoughts and feelings and I can’t articulate any of them I need to go lay in a bog. I cried so much my husband thought something was wrong with my eyes

I just read howls moving castle. My problem was someone needed to take a photo of me. Howl is given a phone (bad) learns what a selfie is (also bad) learns what social media is (getting worse) howl decides to become an influencer and Sophie attacks me with weed killer. (I’m dead)

Obviously I could have picked Sophie to help me with my problems and she would have taken the best picture of my life because she told the phone to behave and take a lovely photo worthy of a museum or something similar but picking Howl is much funnier to me.
