You know, at least Luffy finding out his idol is in love with the stupid Clown will really prepare him for the Crocodad reveal. What do you mean the leader of the Revolutionary Army, fighting corruption across the world, fucked the war criminal Mob Boss to make him?
Luffy is finding out both his father figures have terrible taste in men. Dragon and Shanks are just sad, pathetic, weepy, divorced men. Meanwhile, Crocodile has successfully become the first deadbeat trans masc dad and started a polycule cult with both of Shanks exes. Hilarious situation to me.

I think he's clowned on because he's the world greatest swordsman (and as you said, that's something we're told, not really something we've seen) BUT there are other people stronger than him (*cough* shanks *cough*) that also use swords but are not SWORDSMAN the way he and Zoro are, and powerscalers can't deal with the fact that they're blorbo are not the best swordsman in the world
On one hand, I do find agenda chasing to be silly, and powerscaling outright irritating, but I do understand why there is so much memeing and slander around Dracule Mihawk specifically.
Because, when you come down to it, Mihawk really isn't much of a character is he?
And I'm not talking about his sort of flat, low information antagonist he represents. We have other villains like that who work very well. Look at who he's been partnered up with, Crocodile. The man's about as complex as a $5 california screwcap, and he's still unconditionally beloved. He's a power-hungry, megalomaniacal sociopath who will do anything in order to get what he wants, even if it means killing literally millions of people, and that's pretty much all we've known about him for 25 years. But that doesn't matter, because we know from one of the best arcs in the series of him being maybe the most proactive, intimidating villain we've ever had from Oda, and another arc of him having a world-historic crash out that what really matters about Crocodile is what he's going to do next.
It's not like that with Mihawk. The closest Mihawk has ever come to actually being involved with the story is a smattering of pannels at Marineford, where he still doesn't really do anything. All we know about this guy is that he's bored and grumpy, and apparently he is the greatest/strongest swordsman in the world, who we have never once seen genuinely demonstrate that fact. We know nothing about where he came from; we know nothing about what he wants or where he wants to go. He is essentially a mcguffin for Zoro, who only exists to gatekeep him from achieving his dream.
You can look at him on the page, and maybe you can even detect that maybe, eventually he just might amount to something, but Mihawk simply is not there.

“Sanji’s character development in Whole Cake Island was undone in Wano because he’s still a perv!”
Sanji’s development in WCI was not about learning to stop being a perv, where did you get the idea it was? It was about healing from his childhood trauma, accepting his self-worth, and learning to rely on others and not do everything by himself. Wano continues this through Sanji experimenting with but rejecting the raid suit, reaffirming he will not become his brothers modifications or no and showing his new willingness to accept help from others with how he asks Zoro to kill him if he loses his humanity and calls on Robin to save him from Black Maria. Sanji’s development from Whole Cake Island was never undone but rather strengthened, but you’re insisting it was based on something that didn’t exist to begin with.

We can see Zoro becoming more serious with every fight, his idea that he wasn't good enough, or fast enough, or that he shouldn't have struggled as much, pushing him to train more and more and try to take everything seriously.
Spoilers below the cut :
I hope Zoro relaxes at the beginning of season 2, until he can't defeat Mr 3 and goes back to being serious for a few episodes, and then relaxes again for the whole of season 3, until his fight with Mr 1 where he starts training furiously to continue to cut steal, and we keep seeing through the seasons how he's a naturally funny and dumb guy but he put so much pressure on himself that he forces himself to be stoic (but can't keep it up around the crew)
My understanding of anime/manga Zoro is that he starts out really goofy and relaxed, and over the course of the series progressively gets more stoic (especially post time skip). Since opla Zoro is extremely stoic, my fervent hope is that he does the reverse- starts out serious, and the longer he's with the Strawhats, the more he relaxes and smiles and laughs and settles into his family.

No but he could --
if only he didn't wash only once a week
Before I watched One Piece I thought that Zoro was the cook and I blame that entirely on Eliot Spencer.
