i have very complicated feelings on jayvik's ending because on one had i genuinely think it was a beautifully crafted and romantic ending, Jayce's speech being a wonderful message for disabled people—to not perceive yourself as inherently lesser because of your disability, to not believe that you must be perfect to be loved. But on the other hand, making 2/3 of your EXPLICITLY SUICIDAL characters commit suicide together as an act of redemption is an absolutely INSANE thing to write.

Also, she quite literally casted out of Noxus for being too empathetic. Too kind. Her refusal to see her fellow beings as mere pawns is what led to the rift between her and Ambessa. She sees value in human life. To imply otherwise is a complete misread of her character.

In general, everything she does is for the betterment of her city. She wishes for hextech to succeed initially because it will “put [Piltover] on the map”. Part of that is motivated by the desire to prove herself to Ambessa, of course, to make a name for herself, but it is still for Piltover in the end. It’s a noble goal. She’s always been noble. I’m so tired man

Since some of the “Mel’s intentions in S1” conversations are resurfacing…

My biggest counterpoint to “Mel had sinister intentions before changing for the better” is that if Mel had her way literally nothing bad would’ve happened to Jayce and Viktor.

If things continued as they were, Mel would’ve kept supporting their endeavors and looking out for their interests because she wants the same thing they do- to make Hextech a success.

Yes she had her own interests and motives too, but who doesn’t? The important thing is Mel sees the people she deals with as human beings and wouldn’t intentionally hurt someone for her own benefit. She doesn’t see people as objects to use and dispose of, and she sees the value in cooperating with those she respects. (Consider her conversation with Ambessa about risking lives for self gain)

Addendum: Also, I believe Mel was being sincere about wanting to give something back to the world for once, especially now knowing how she feels about being a Medarda.
