Summary: It’s Natasha’s first mission since she rescued you and she’s nervous about how you’ll cope
Between pt 9 & 10
Word Count: 1k
Warnings/Content: None I believe
———————————————————————
Natasha watched in awe as you devoured your breakfast, scrambled eggs were clearly a new favourite. Your mom simply loved to see you exploring new foods, the red room didn’t exactly provided a vast range of meals. “Ease up buttercup it’s not going anywhere I promise” the redhead giggled as she came to join you at the table. “Sorry mama” you smiled as you slowed your pace. Your mom didn’t want to ruin the moment but she needed to talk to you, this conversation couldn’t be avoided any longer.
“Y/n” Natasha said, pushing a loose hair behind your ear to get your attention. “Do you remember when we talked about what mommy does for her work? And how she’s taken a lot of time off to be with you?” She asked. You nodded slowly, still shovelling your eggs into your mouth. “Well now mommy has to go back to work, I have to go on a mission” the widow said. As part of her defection to S.H.I.E.L.D, Natasha had agreed to working directly under Fury but as things changed and you arrived, her priority had been to be with you. But now, the director was getting angsty.
Your shoulders dropped in disappointment, you knew this was coming you just hoped it wasn’t yet. “When?” You asked, pausing your meal. “Next week” your mom said. Natasha made sure she gave you enough notice, you often needed more time to process and prepare for things. “And you’ll come back?” You whimpered. “Of course baby, I promise” the redhead said, pulling you into a tight hug. You very rarely allowed your mother to step out of your sight, you liked to keep her close. “I have to leave at 8 in the morning and I’ll be back by 5 in the evening okay, pinky promise” Natasha said, locking her smallest finger with your own.
The next week soon passed and your mom noticed how you had been much more clingy than usual. It made her nervous, on top of the mountain of worries she already had about leaving you. She knew you’d be safe but she couldn’t predict how you would actually be on the day. “Y/n are you ready to go to uncle Clint’s?” Natasha called up to your room. “Yeah” you said shyly, appearing at the top of the staircase. “Come on my baby” your mom said with outstretched arms, lifting you down the last few steps. You whined when Natasha tired to set you down on the floor so she settled on carrying you to car.
You refused to walk once again after arriving at the Barton’s and trying to pass you into Clint’s waiting arms was a challenge. “Sweetheart you have let mommy go” Natasha said, once again attempting to pry your arms away from her. “No don’t leave me!” You cried. Your mom winced at the sound of your sadness, she wasn’t leaving you but trying to explain that to a 6 year old who had already been through so much was hard.
“Y/n look at me” Natasha said as she placed you on the ground, crouching down with you as you were still tightly latched to her. “I promise you I’m coming back” your mom whispered into your ear, attempting to sooth you with her voice and a tight hug. You basked in the pressure your mother provided and you believed her with everything in you but you were so afraid. “And you’re gonna have loads of fun with your cousins right? I’ll be back before you know it. I love you” Natasha said, kissing your cheek. “I love you too mama” you sadly smiled.
You watched carefully as the redhead walked back to her car, waving softly as she turned her gaze away from you. “Come on then little widow” Clint said as he guided you further into his house. You wiped your tears away quickly, afraid your uncle would be mad at you. You arrived at the kitchen where an excitable Lila was waiting with her crayons. “Y/n do you want to colour with me?” She asked in one quick breath. “Ok you reluctantly agreed”.
Natasha made good on her promise as arrived at the front door at 4:45. “Y/n I’m back” she called out through her exhaustion. “Hey Nat, she’s just in the kitchen” Clint said as he appeared in the hallway. “Hi” the widow said, she had expected you to come running when she returned however something inside her swelled with pride. “Are you ok? You hurt at all?” Clint asked. “No I’m fine maybe a few bruised ribs but it’s nothing” your mom said.
“Hi beautiful” Natasha said as she entered the living room. “Mommy!” You beamed when you saw her fiery red hair, running at her with full velocity. You eyed her curiously, making sure she was unharmed. Natasha knew what you were doing and as it soothed your anxiety, she allowed you to check her injuries. Happy with the result of her unbroken skin and perfect hair you pushed yourself into her chest. “I missed you” you said, burying your head in her scent. “Oh I missed you too baby, did you have fun?” Your mama asked.
“Yeah! We coloured and played on the swings and uncle Clint taught me how to play cards and I’m really good at it!” You enthused. “Well that’s because you’re the smartest little one aren’t you” your mom smiled. “I had a good day mommy, but it would’ve been perfect if you were here” you said as you bashful pointed at her. “Oh thank you sweetie” Natasha said, pulling you back into a tight hug.
It seemed that Natasha had underestimated your independence. She wanted nothing more than to wrap you up in bubble wrap and keep you connected to her for life. But now your mom could see, you were capable of so much. You were strong and determined and you could do anything you put your mind too. Natasha basked in the love you had for Clint and his family, but your greatest love would always be your mom.

Summary: Your boyfriend arrived at Natasha’s apartment and you’re forced to make the toughest decision of your life
Word Count: 1.8k
Warnings/Content: Domestic Abuse / Verbal Abuse / Physical Abuse / Violence / Sexual Assault / Rape
—————————————————————————
“Y/n, come out come out wherever you are.”
Natasha rose back to her feet, silent in her movements. “Y/n” she whispered, leaning close to the door “stay in the bathroom” she muttered, praying that you could hear her. The widow was light on her feet as she moved across the small apartment. Her plan was to grab the gun taped underneath the coffee table, but the creak in the floorboards told her it was too late. She had two choices, run for the bedroom, or run towards the danger. Natasha didn’t think twice as she creeped towards the hallway, back firmly against the wall. She was prepared for a fight, ready to defend you. The redhead rounded the corner hoping to have the element of surprise but a hard hit to the face sent her flying backwards, she knew instantly that her nose was broken as she stumbled to the floor. “You’re not the only one who knows how to sneak” the man said. “Dylan” Natasha coughed, followed by a kick to the stomach. “And you’re not the only one who knows how to fight either” your boyfriend snarled.
He reeked of alcohol and despite his accurate punches, Natasha knew she could get the better of him in his state. The widow lunged towards your boyfriend but before she knew it, a gun was pointed straight at her face, her own gun. Usually the sight of a weapon wouldn’t make her flinch, but in the hands of an angry intoxicated man, who knew what he’d do. Natasha could see the barrel shaking and glare of beer covering Dylan’s eyes. “Put the gun down” she whispered. “Make me bitch” Dylan bit back. The lock of the bathroom door went unheard by both as you silently crept out. “Don’t do something else you’ll regret, I think the list is long enough already don’t you?” Natasha asked your boyfriend. “My only regret is letting that slut out of my sight” Dylan slurred. “You don’t feel the slightest bit of regret for what you’ve done?” The widow said, the anger rising in her chest. “You control her, you beat the shit of out of her. You fucking raped her!” She gritted. “Shut your mouth!” Dylan screamed storming towards the redhead.
“Stay back!” You yelled, suddenly appearing from the dark hallway, a second gun in your own hand. Your boyfriend didn’t even process his grip until he heard the shattering of glass. You cowered away at hearing a gunshot, pain shooting through your ribs, thankfully not from a new wound. Dylan took the opportunity to reach for Natasha, wrapping his arm tightly around her neck. “No!” You shouted, aiming your own weapon straight at him. Dylan retaliated, of course, he pulled Natasha tight against his chest and aimed his gun towards her head, squeezing the handle tightly. “Ah ah ah little one, think very carefully” Dylan darkly smiled “we wouldn’t want your precious girlfriend to get hurt would we?” He said. You felt the tears creep up behind your eyes, partly due to pain but mostly due to fear. Your eyes darted between Dylan and Natasha, your arms still outstretched. The redhead finally caught your gaze and held it, you looked into her green eyes as she silently mouthed ‘shoot him’. You let out a pitiful whimper, a million thoughts running through your head. You’d never even held a gun before, what if you were doing it wrong? You didn’t know how sensitive the trigger was and what if you hit Natasha?
There was no telling what Dylan would do if you pulled the trigger, would he drop his gun? Would he retaliate? Would he flinch and pull his trigger? You slowly lowered your gun, wincing as your shoulder rolled painfully. “Good puppy” your boyfriend giggled “come here” he commanded. You sheepishly walked towards Dylan, gun by your side. He still had a tight hold on Natasha so you didn’t feel that you could turn away when he lent forward to kiss you. The redhead gritted her teeth, his actions making her stomach churn. “Don’t touch her!” She demanded. “Oh shut up” your boyfriend sighed, accentuating his point with a thud of the weapon on Natasha’s forehead. “Stop Dylan, please” you muttered “just-just tell me what you want okay I’ll- I’ll go or do whatever you want just don’t hurt her” you shakily said. “That’s more like it, put the gun down” you followed his instructions with slow and calculated moments, placing the weapon just beside Natasha’s feet. “You know this is my favourite version of you” your boyfriend said “the quite and compliment y/n. Because you know deep down that you’re mine. And doesn’t it just feel so much better when you do as your told?” He said, leaning his arm across your shoulder, the arm that connected his hand to the gun.
It was now or never, you knew that. Yet every second felt like never had already arrived. Natasha could see your mind racing behind your eyes, she didn’t know what you were going to do, but she knew you were going to get out of this. “Answer me pup” Dylan huffed, reminding you of his presence. “No” you whispered “what?” Before Dylan could finish his sentence you lifted his outstretched arm above his head, flinching at the sound of the bullet escaping. Natasha swung round in his grip and landed a harsh blow to his chest. Your boyfriend fell back, dropping his gun. You grabbed it quickly, while the redhead retrieved the weapon from the floor. But she was too slow, Dylan was already charging towards you. You didn’t think, or maybe you did, but you pulled the trigger tight, screaming as red droplets propelled onto you. You dropped the gun, staggering backwards until you were flat against the wall, Dylan fell down. “Y/n!” Natasha yelled as she came running to you. “Hey, hey, shh, it’s okay, it’s alright” she mumbled as she caught your weightless body before it could hit the ground.
Why did you do that? It was the only way right? But you’d just shot a man, that could never be right. “Y/n look at me” the redhead said, gripping your face and pulling it away from the groaning pile on the floor “it’s okay” she whispered into your ear. Your eyes still found Dylan, no matter the way you were facing. His breathing was cracked and heavy, a pool of blood already surrounded him. You saw his eyes, saw the moment he knew, this was the end of him. The room fell silent. You screamed as the realisation set in. “No, no, no, look at me” Natasha said, twisting your gaze back to her “it’s alright. It’s okay now, it’s over.” She whispered, resting her forehead against yours. You sobbed into the redheads arms, guilt consuming you. “I-I killed him. I didn’t mean to kill him. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to, I just wanted him to stop” you cried. “I know sweetheart it’s okay” Natasha cooed, slowly pulling you to stand in her strong arms. “
“I- am I gonna go to jail? I just- I just murdered someone” you muttered as the widow lead you into her bedroom. “No, no, you haven’t murdered anyone, it was self defence. You did what you had to” Natasha said, alarmed by the hue of red in her hands after running her fingers through your hair. “Are you hurt? Did you get hit?” She frantically said, eyeing you over for any new injuries and wiping at the sprays of blood on your face. “No. It’s not mine” you whispered. A loud slam at the front door startled you causing your already shaking body to flinch. The redhead noticed your panicked eyes “it’s okay it’s okay” she said. “Romanoff” a steady voice called out. “In here, no one’s armed. Intruders down” Natasha called back. “Wh-who’s?” You muttered. “It’s just Fury” she said. The world moved in slow motion as Clint suddenly appeared in the doorway “you girls okay?” He asked, rushing to his best friends side. “We’re safe” Natasha answered, diverting the question slightly. Director Fury was next to show his face “what the hell happened?” He asked. “I was right” the redhead said to the archer “you never should’ve accepted her resignation so easily” Natasha sighed towards Nick.
The next few days were a blur. Time faded and not a single second existed in your world. You were stuck. Stuck with the vision of the lifeless body you were responsible for and stuck underneath the one face you wanted to forget. Natasha was by your side in every moment. The only time she let you out of her sight was when you were in the bathroom. She could see every emotion you tried to hide behind your glassy eyes and she could tell that you were disconnected from them. S.H.I.E.L.D took care of the situation, they handed Dylan over to the authorities and quickly had you excused of any wrong doing. Fury made it his mission to clear you of any trouble, you didn’t deserve it and he felt somewhat responsible. You stayed with Natasha at a safe house while Clint cleared your apartment of all things Dylan, ready for when you one day returned.
“Hey sweetheart” the redhead whispered from the doorway as to not startle you. “Hi” you mumbled back. “I need to check your ribs, is that ok?” Natasha asked. You shrugged in response, not really caring about the ache still present in your stomach. The widow slowly took the lukewarm tea from your grip, her cautious and calculated movements didn’t go unnoticed by you and you hoped that Natasha could sense that you were grateful for her caring nature. The redhead meticulously tended to your fractured ribs, they were healing well in her opinion. You watched Natasha with a firm gaze and your eyes fell to the dark bruise scattered across her forehead, the indent of Dylan’s gun still present. You reached up and slowly traced the closed wound with your fingers. “I’m sorry” you whispered. Natasha gently took a hold of your hands, and surprisingly you welcomed her touch. “Don’t be. Don’t you ever be sorry” she sadly smiled. “Doe-does it hurt?” You muttered, tears escaping your eyes. “No” the redhead said.
“Hey, look at me” Natasha cooed, lifting your chin up to meet her gaze “it’s okay, I’m okay” she said. “Am I gonna be okay?” You whispered, your voice cracking. “Yes. One day” Natasha said as she pulled you into her arms. You allowed your body to be anchored in her embrace, letting your tears fall freely for the first time in days. “I promise you that one day you’ll be okay again, but it’s also okay to not be okay right now. But I promise that you will heal” the widow said, rocking you gently in her arms. “Just lean on me for now alright, you give it all to me and we’ll make it better together” she comforted. Your eyes grew heavy as the rhythmic sway of Natasha’s hold calmed you. “Go to sleep sweetheart. I’ve got you, and I’m never letting you go” Natasha cooed. You fell asleep instantly at her words, secured by her affection and the trust that she would look after you. And she would for the rest of her life.

Part three going up tomorrow!❤️
Happy House | NR | 2

Summary: You arrive on Natasha’s doorstep, having nowhere else to go. She patches you up and tries to figure out what to do next
Word Count: 1.7k
Warnings/Content: Domestic Abuse / Verbal Abuse / Physical Abuse / Violence / Sexual Assault / Rape
—————————————————————————
The ground was cold beneath your feet, despite the socks and sneakers that you wore. The winter air of New York sank into your skin, you craved the warmth from your favourite jacket. Your stamina had long ago faded, your legs not able to run any further. You had no idea how long it had been but the orange hue in the sky told you it was almost sunrise. You found yourself wandering aimlessly along the streets of the city, no destination in mind but your feet taking you on a familiar path. You turned on a few more corners until you arrived in front of the small cobbled pathway sketched into your mind. You’d been here before, no further than the gate but you stared up at the floor you knew she was on. The light was streaming through the curtains, a contrast to the dark street blocked from the morning sun. You passed silently through the gate and limped up the few steps before the door. Your eyes scanned the buttons, the last name of each tenant taped next to them. You hesitated as you extended your finger, why were you here? Would she even let you in? Cautiously, you pressed the buzzer “hello?” A quiet voice questioned. “Natasha” you sighed at the familiar voice “it’s y/n” you whispered.
There was a moments silence and you feared it was a sign to leave “I’m coming” the widow finally spoke. You allowed yourself to breathe fully for the first time in hours, your exhaustion beginning to take over as the pain started to consume you. It wasn’t long until you saw a wave of fiery red hair walking towards the door, she paused as she eyed you through the glass. “Y/n?” Natasha said worriedly as she opened the building door “I didn’t know where else to go” you replied as you looked up at her with tears in your eyes. The avenger didn’t need to ask you, she knew the fingerprints on your arms belonged to Dylan, and she knew that the bruises on your neck were his twisted artwork. “Let’s get you inside” Natasha said as she came forward and helped you to your feet, you whimpered as you stood up causing her to eye you suspiciously, not only worried at your obvious pain but also your laboured breathing. You noticed her questioning gaze and motioned to your t shirt. Natasha helped to lift it slightly and her heart ached at the littering of purple across your stomach. “Come on, we’ll get some ice on those okay” the redhead cooed.
You were so tired, each step taking the last remains of your energy. You practically fell onto Natasha as she helped to load you into the elevator. “I’m sleepy” you whined “I know, you just have to stay awake a little longer okay” the redhead said as she manoeuvred you gently. You winced as the lift came to a rumbled stop on Natasha’s floor “just a little further alright” she said. You hobbled weakly arm in arm with the avenger and waited patiently as she unlocked her door. In her panic to get to you, Natasha had left on all the lights. The brightness hit your eyes and caused the back of your head to tense in pain. You groaned and covered your eyes as the redhead quickly deposited you onto the couch and ran to each wall to switch off the lights. “Hey, hey, hey, you need to stay awake for me okay” she said as she returned to your fluttering eyes. “Please” you whimpered “it hurts” you cried, allowing your tears to fall freely. “I know sweetheart, it’s okay I’ve got you. Just let me patch you up then you can sleep I promise” the redhead cooed.
Natasha moved around the room with ease as she collected the supplies she needed. She was gentle with her touch as she used a damp wash cloth to clean the dried blood beneath your nose, and her fingers were soft as she closed the open wound on your cheek. “Almost done, I just need to wrap your ribs” the redhead said as she helped you to sit up slowly. Your breath was caught in your throat as you adjusted your position, you pressed the ice close to your skin revelling in the way the cold soothed your bruised skin. “This might hurt okay, I’ve gotta do it tight” Natasha said as she pulled your arms up. You whimpered at the movement and loss of coolness “just do it” you said. More tears escaped your eyes as the widow wrapped your ribs, she was sure to move quickly yet delicately. “All done” she eventually sighed “all done” she said as you let out a guttural sob. “I’m sorry” you cried. “No, no, no” Natasha said as she pulled you into her arms “you have nothing to be sorry for!” She exclaimed.
You continued to sob in Natasha’s arms until your exhaustion caught up with you. The pain you felt was astronomical and it was the greatest relief to finally close your eyes. “Get some rest y/n” the redhead spoke softly “I’ll be here when you wake up. I promise. You’re safe. I promise” she whispered as your cries began to soften. Natasha held you close until she was sure you were finally asleep, getting the rest you desperately deserved. She gently laid you down on the couch so that no pressure was on your injuries. Moving silently around the room, Natasha quickly cleaned up and placed all her essentials back into the small medical box she kept. She was careful not to make much noise while she prepared you a small bowl of soup, she hoped you’d be willing to take some painkillers when you woke up but you couldn’t do that on an empty stomach. The widow kept herself busy while you continued to sleep, her own anger would overwhelm her if she let it.
Natasha was lightly cleaning her apartment when she heard you shuffling around, exhaling a sharp breath as you moved. “Hey sweetheart” the redhead said as she entered the living room “I’ve got some soup ready for you. How are you feeling?” She asked. You groaned as used what little strength you had left to push yourself to sit up “what time is it?” You questioned, ignoring Natasha’s previous question. “It’s just gone midday” the widow kindly smiled as she moved cautiously closer. You started to panic at the realisation you had slept for way longer than planned. “I- I’ve gotta go” you stuttered, attempting to find balance on your feet. “Y/n I don’t think you’re in any condition to go anywhere right now” Natasha said as she rushed to help you stand. “No I have to go, Dylan…he’s gonna be looking for me this is the first place he’ll look. I’m surprised he hasn’t found me already” you exclaimed, pulling your arms out of the redheads grip “I need to go!” You said. “Go where?” Natasha said as she grabbed hold of your shoulders, cautious to not place too much pressure. “Anywhere, away from here, away from you. You’re not safe while I’m here” you muttered. “And you’re not safe if you leave” Natasha said, making sure you heard her loud and clear.
You let all of your weight collapse onto the widow as she helped you back down onto the couch. “I shouldn’t have dragged you into this” you sniffled. “You didn’t, I did when I came to your apartment. I should’ve dragged you out of there as soon as I knew what he was doing. But I’m here now, and I’m gonna protect you I promise” Natasha said as she gently stroked your stray hairs away. “I don’t know how to get away from him Nat” you cried out. “We’ll figure it out” the redhead cooed already racking her brain for solutions. “You just rest ok, I’ll go grab your soup then you can take some painkillers” Natasha said, helping you to find a comfortable spot on the couch again. She was quick to warm your soup and bring it over to you, making sure you would heal as quickly as possible. There was a comfortable silence as you finished your meal and for the first time in hours you felt your mind go quiet.
“Y/n” Natasha said drawing your attention back to her “I’m gonna pack us some bags and we’ll go to a safe house ok” she said. “What?” You questioned. “I promised I’m gonna protect you and I mean that, so until your ready and able to figure out what to do next, we’ll leave” the redhead smiled. “You think I should just run and hide?” You asked, unsure as to what her motives truly were. “I think, I want you somewhere safe” Natasha said. “And then what?” You questioned “a mission comes up and you have to leave? He won’t stop Natasha” you said, keeping your tears at bay. “Then I’ll stop him!” The redhead said in desperation “Nat” you sighed. “No, we’ll call the police or I’ll go to Fury he won’t get away with this” the redhead pleaded. “He already has!” You shouted “n-no, he’ll pay for this I promise” Natasha stuttered. “It doesn’t matter, after what he’s done I-“ you mumbled, quickly wiping away a fallen tear.
The widow sat back slowly, she had suspicions and now she knew for a fact. “He rapes you doesn’t he?” Natasha asked as delicately as she could. “Please don’t say that word” you cried, rising to your feet suddenly. “Y/n” Nat said, wanting nothing more than to comfort you. “No” you mumbled as you pushed past her and headed into the bathroom, locking the door behind you. “Y/n please talk to me” Natasha pleaded beside the wood, waiting patiently for you to realise how much she cared. The house fell silent as the widow eventually slid down to a more comfortable perch. Keys finally began to jangle and Natasha thought you were finally coming out. Until she realised, you didn’t need keys for the bathroom door, only the front door. “Shit” the redhead cursed as she scrambled her brain to remember if she had taken the keys out of the door when she came in.
“Y/n, come out come out wherever you are”

Always My Baby | SJ

Summary: It’s your 17th birthday but you end the night crying in your moms arms
Request: Can you do Scarlett x daughter its the reader birthday and after celebrating later on that night reader starts crying because she doesn’t want to grow up
Word Count: 580
Warnings/Content: None I believe :)
—————————————————————————
“What a day!” Scarlett huffed as she collapsed on the bed next to you. Today was your 17th birthday and your mom had thrown the party of all parties. Every friend you’d ever had was there and all of your extended family had come from all over the country. Now you were enjoying a couple of films with Scarlett while you finished up the leftover birthday cake. “Did you have a good day sweetheart?” Your mom asked “yeah it was great, thank you for everything” you grinned, the smile not quite reaching your eyes. “What’s wrong?” Scarlett questioned, knowing you well enough to notice the dimness of your eyes. “Nothing” you shrugged, attempting to fix the expression on your face. Scarlett looked at you with raised eyebrows, she knew something was bothering you and although she didn’t like to pry, this was your special day and if something was wrong she would do anything to fix it.
You avoided eye contact with your mom, not wanting to ruin what had been an amazing day. “I feel old” you whispered “well not old but…like I’m growing up. And I don’t wanna grow up” you said, your sentence fractured by the tears creeping behind your eyes. “Oh angel” Scarlett cooed, pulling you into her embrace “I don’t want you to grow up either, but you are aren’t you?” She said softly. “But guess what, think about all the amazing things you’re gonna do with your adult life. Think about what the future holds, a beautiful home, an amazing job, a relationship, a family. All of those things can be yours if you want them.” Your mom said, squeezing you tightly. “I know” you muttered “and I can’t wait to have all that, but I know as soon it starts that means my childhood is over. And I’m not ready for it to be over” you cried.
Your early years had been magic. And you were beyond grateful for all the opportunities you had been given that other kids didn’t have the luxury of receiving. Your moms life wasn’t ordinary and although she had tried to keep it that way, you managed to sneak your way onto movie sets and red carpets and most of the time you even ended up travelling with Scarlett all over the world. The thought of it all being over so fast was breaking your heart. “Oh my sweetheart it’ll never be over. All of your memories will still be there, forever and ever. And they’ll always make you happy and the kid inside of you, she’s always gonna shine through” your mom said. You let yourself fall into her embrace, sobbing into her shirt.
“I’m scared” you sniffled. “Of what baby?” Scarlett asked, gently carding her fingers through your hair. “Of adulthood, I don’t know what I’m doing” you muttered. “No one does sweetheart” your mom sighed “but I promise you that you won’t ever be alone. Because no matter where you are you are always my daughter and you are always my baby” Scarlett said, squeezing you gently. “You’re such a mom” you giggled through your tears. “Yeah” the blonde chuckled “but that means that everything I say is true” she smiled. “Shut up” you laughed, lightly smacking Scarlett’s arm. Your focus fell back to the current movie and you snuggled impossibly close to your mom. You still didn’t want your childhood days to end but you were finally starting to feel excited about the future.

—————————————————————————
You were curled up on the couch scrolling on your phone, unaware of the figure lurking above you. “What ya doing?” Scarlett said suddenly, leaning over the back of the couch. “Holy sh- mom!” You yelped, pulling your phone into your chest. “Ooo almost got ya!” The blonde giggled. “Okay, if you scare me and I curse that’s entirely your fault” you said, rolling your eyes. “Well maybe I’m just waiting to use my mom powers to ground you, I’ve been waiting for it since you were 12” Scarlett said, settling down on the couch next to you. “You’ve been waiting to ground your child?” You asked. “It’s what every mother dreams of” your mom smirked “not like it’s ever gonna happen with you though is it, guess I got lucky with the most well behaved child on earth” Scarlett smiled. “Yeah” you whispered, pulling your phone back down to your lap and shutting it off. “You wanna watch a movie?” Your mom asked, softly twisting the loose strands from your ponytail. “Yeah sure” you said.
You really tried to enjoy the movie, but you couldn’t help the continuous nervous fidgeting racking your body. Scarlett noticed but she decided not to say anything, until the film ended and she saw the light layer of sweat covering your forehead. “What’s wrong sweetheart?” Your mom asked. You thought about lying, but you were so bad at it there was no point. It’s no wonder Scarlett had 100% trust in you, if you ever tried to deceive her you know it wouldn’t work. “If I tell you something, you promise you won’t be mad?” You quietly asked. “Well I can’t promise that without knowing what is it but you know you can tell me anything” your mom said, switching off the tv. “You’ll still love me the same though right?” You shyly said. “Oh baby nothing will ever make me love you less” Scarlett smiled, shuffling closer to you. You cautiously reached for phone and pulled up the Instagram page you had been scrolling through before the film started. “Is this what you were looking at earlier?” Your mom asked as you passed her the phone, you nodded cautiously.
Scarlett looked down at the picture you had loaded to show her “oo she’s pretty” your mom said, still not fully understanding why you were showing her this. “Oh!” She suddenly said “you think she’s pretty too? Like…like you like her?” Scarlett delicately asked. You avoided eye contact as your mom figured out what you were trying to say, you felt tears well up in your eyes and you desperately tired to hold them back. “Hey, hey, hey, it’s ok” Scarlett said, shuffling closer to you “why are you crying sweetie?” She asked. “Because…because I’m your good girl, the daughter who’s never in trouble, who’s never done anything wrong” you sniffled. “And you still haven’t baby! You’re not in trouble! You’d never be in trouble for being who you are!” Scarlett cooed, pulling you into her arms “you don’t hate me?” You said, voice quivering. “No. I never could y/n” your mom said, squeezing you tightly. “I am so proud of you, thank you for telling me” Scarlett smiled.
You basked in your mothers comfort for a while, relieved at finally being able to tell her. Scarlett allowed you the time to calm down before she spoke up again. “Does she go to your school?” She asked. “Yeah, she’s in my science class” you smiled. “Oooo I hope she’s your chemistry partner” the blonde chuckled. “Mom” you laughed, rolling your eyes. “Okay okay, well what are you gonna do? Could get her some flowers?” Scarlett said, sitting back with a giddy smile. “I don’t know” you shyly smiled. “Well what is she into? Does she like music? Musicals? What about just going out for dinner?” Your mom said, reeling off all of her ideas. “I don’t know okay” you softly smiled “I’ve never dated anyone before what if I make a fool of myself just by asking her out” you frowned. “Listen, making a fool of yourself is part of life, you’re bound to do it one day. But if she really likes you, she’ll accept you no matter what” Scarlett said. “Alright, well, she likes musicals” you grinned, cheeks already blushing. “Ok, I’ve got a plan” your mom said shuffling closer to you.
The day of your date finally arrived and Scarlett was beside herself with nerves, she’s vowed to be the kind of mother who actually allowed you to grow up during your teenage years. But still, knowing her 15 year old was off on her first date was a tough pill to swallow, you really were growing up right before her eyes. Scarlett helped you to get ready and saw you on your way out of the front door, you’d rejected her offer to drop you off at the movie theatre. You had the best time, getting to know your date and growing closer than you ever thought possible in just a few hours. You arrived home hand in hand with your ‘almost’ girlfriend after your mom had offered to host her for dinner. She watched from the kitchen as you snuggled together, clearly still smitten by each other. “We’re gonna head up to my room” you said after introducing Scarlett to your date. She smiled and nodded but couldn’t hold back from making a cheeky comment. “Leave the door open” she smirked. “Oh my god mom” you sighed, dragging your classmate swiftly up the stairs.
Scarlett didn’t know whether this relationship would last, whether or not it would blossom into something more or leave you with a broken heart. But she knew one thing. She would always love you. No matter what.

Water | NR

Summary: Natasha discovers why you are afraid of water
Between pt 5 & 6
Word Count: 785
Warnings/Content: Red Room References
—————————————————————————
“No!” You yelped as Natasha tried to lift you up “no please!” You cried. The widow ceased her attempts to get you in the bath. You’ve been with Natasha for 9 weeks now and every day when the redhead suggested it was time to bathe you couldn’t help but cry. Your mom was completely stumped as to why you didn’t want to go anywhere near water and for the last 2 months she’d had to resort to washing you up with a washcloth. You had managed to take a couple of very quick showers but Natasha knew it wasn’t enough to keep you properly clean.
“Sweetheart” your mom said as she pulled you into her lap “I need you to tell me why you don’t want a bath. Doesn’t it look fun? Look at all the bubbles and toys!” Natasha said, waving her free hand through the layer of bubbles atop the water. “Don’t wanna” you whined, sniffling hard into your moms shoulder. “Why baby?” Nat pushed. In taking on her new role as a mother, Natasha knew she would have to be tough on you sometimes and occasionally reprimand you too, but that was the last thing she was trying to do right now. She just needed to get to the bottom of this.
You trusted your mom entirely but something inside you was scared of what she might do if you stepped foot in that water. “You’ve gotta stay clean y/n and just using a wash cloth isn’t enough. So we need to do this okay” the redhead said after you remained silent. “You won’t hurt me?” You whispered, looking up at your mother through tear stained lashes. “Baby mommy would never hurt you” Natasha said in shock “did someone hurt you with water? Was it your father?” The widow asked. You shook your head with an adorable pout “the red room” you whimpered as you wrapped yourself around Natasha’s arms.
Your mom picked you up while using a spare hand to pull the stopper from the tub, the water had long gone cold by now. She was terrified by the two words you had uttered, she couldn’t imagine what you were going to say next. “Can you tell me what happened sweetie?” Natasha asked, settling down on her bed with you. “No” you mumbled. “Hey” your mom said prying you away from her chest so she could see your eyes “you remember what we said about talking about the scary things? That talking about it makes it less scary?” She softly smiled. “I remember” you said.
Natasha was playing with your hair in what she hoped was a comforting touch. “The-they didn’t hurt me” you whispered “did they hurt the other girls?” Your mom asked to which you nodded slowly. “Did you see it?” The redhead said. “They made us watch, so that we wouldn’t miss behave” you mumbled. Natasha gave you an encouraging nod, letting you know it was safe to continue. “They put rags on the girls faces and held them underwater. They would pull them up and then push them down again. One of the girls died” you cried.
Natasha was in shock. The red room wasn’t exactly a paradise before she left but it had clearly only gotten worse. “I’m so sorry y/n, you shouldn’t have had to see that” your mom cooed “it still scares you huh?” She asked. “Mhm” you mumbled, huddling into Natasha’s shoulder. “Well you know that mommy would never do that to you don’t you?” Natasha said. “I know” you whispered. “Ok well why don’t I make you a promise huh? You can come and run the bath with me and you can choose how much or how little water you’d like. And you can choose some bubbles and toys and we’ll only stay in the bath for 10 minuets? No longer I promise” your mom smiled. “Ok” you said timidly, still scared but twisting your pinky finger around Natasha’s.
That was a week ago and now Natasha was struggling to get you out of the bath. Your mom was so proud of your growth, not only when it came to bath time. Your eyes were seeming to gain more and more light and your smile was growing everyday. You grew to cherish the time you spent with Natasha in the bath, even eventually allowing her to join you. You loved to play mermaids with her and on the days you were tired you enjoyed the contact of her skin against your own, gently drawing shapes across her chest until you eventually would doze off.
Your memories hadn’t left you, they never would but your mommy was always there to soothe your mind.
