These people are insane. Joshua Harris Till is Emmett Till's cousin!

I can't even laugh at this one because of the audacity of the fact that a relative had to put you in check.

I just want to see dark skin girls be love interests too. I want to see dark skin girls as the cute, friendly, desired college cutie. I want to see dark skin men be nerdy and sensitive. I’m so tired of the stereotypes people staple on dark skin. I want dark skin girls with flowers in their hair and cute laughs on my TV. I want to see the dark skin men with gaps and glasses. The dark skin men who like Naruto. I want a wider representation for dark skin characters and I’m going to make it happen.

I know that an official love plot was never filmed. But I’ve been seeing people talking about it a lot and wanted to give my own hot take. All I was trying to say is that I’m happy they didn’t go through with it, and attempting to paint a picture of my thoughts. The scene that a lot of Shuri x Namor shippers cling onto is in my opinion quite manipulative if you think about his motives and everything that happens before and after.
I agree that his first interaction with Wakanda is him trying to decide if they’re allies. But it’s also him demanding they bring Riri to him and saying he has a large army. In my opinion, “I have more soldiers then this land has blades of grass” sounds like he’s trying to intimidate them into quickly complying.
He attacked Wakanda because Shuri and Riri were rescued and in the process a couple of his people were killed. The women in question immediately tried to kill Shuri when Nakia arrived. Which if I remember correctly was his order.
Also I think I should clear up that I don’t exactly hate Namor. I actually thought he was a really interesting character and can understand him wanting to protect his people. I’m just a little passionate is all lol. I know that he’s not meant to be a good guy and I never implied otherwise. This is just me giving my opinion as to why I think keeping his relationship with Shuri non-romantic was smart.
I already said this on Twitter but I have more thoughts and I haven’t posted on here in a while so what the heck.
*Wakanda Forever Spoilers*
I’m happy they cut the romance between Namor and Shuri and let me explain why. A lot of people have been gushing about the scene where Namor shows Shuri his kingdom, as well as him giving her his mother’s bracelet. Now… I’ve always been a sucker for enemies to lovers so at first I could see something here. But then this ship went down the toilet for me.
Immediately after “romancing” Shuri, Namor threatens her mother’s life for RIGHTFULLY trying to ensure her daughter’s safe return, threatens to KILL Shuri and Riri if someone comes for them, and is constantly threatening to destroy Wakanda. And when he DOES kill Ramonda, he shows absolutely NO remorse as Shuri is literally screaming, trying to help her mother. Shit I would be out for blood too.
Now, after rewatching, every “romantic” thing he did towards Shuri feels like manipulation. Like he was trying to soften her up so she would agree to an alliance. “You said you wanted to burn the world, well let’s burn it together.” This line rubbed me the wrong way even on my first watch. In my opinion Namor’s using her grief against her here. Trying to convince her to release all of her hurt feelings violently onto innocent people because HE feels threatened. To help HIM go to war with the surface. He doesn’t give a damn about her grief, he gave her MORE grief and trauma immediately after she opened up about her brother’s death. All he cared about in those scenes, was securing an alliance with Wakanda by any means necessary.
You know the one thing that pisses me off the most about Namor? The fact that he really didn’t have to do HALF the shit he did in this movie. Wakanda had to deal with Thanos, loosing their King (for like the 3rd time) and other countries trying to steal their Vibranum. The absolute last thing they needed was war with an underwater civilization like bffr. I personally believe that if Namor had approached them in a peaceful way, they could have come up with a peaceful solution. But instead his immediate response was to threaten Wakanda and its people because you know… Marvel.
All in all, I don’t care how hot he is. Namor is a manipulative, arrogant son of a bitch who needs to stay as far away from Shuri and the surface world as possible.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk

Ngl I’m quite ashamed of the way my body reacted to that scene 😅
But it wasn’t until that moment that I realized the parallels between them and it gave me literal chills.
i feel like we should give it 2 weeks before we start talking about the movie
