Lovin that Boiled Dinner!
A few days ago I picked up a nice ham from a local butcher/farmer and decided after a few meals, to make some boiled dinner. I used all organic ingredients and brought some to work, and a co-worker commented on the rich flavor and the aromas that radiated from the soup. He was shocked to hear it was all organic!!! Try it out, make an all organic meal and being some to work!! The benefits alone of the lack of chemicals and sprays ect is reason enough to "share the love"

I've been drinking this tea for two days now, every evening! FWI---it's a little bitter, a small dab of organic honey may be needed.

Freeze that corn fearlessly!
So, I recently found through trying a few methods; that the second u pick fresh corn, immediately freeze it. Don't wash it!! Once the corn is frozen, you have around 90 days for optimal flavor! Also, make sure you do not thaw the corn once you take it out of the freezer, straight to the boiler with it! Enjoy!

It's too expensive to eat healthy!?
Oh, really now? Besides the obvious and immediate health benefits from eating healthy and putting less toxins in your body, the old check book doesn't take a hit as much as you might think! I made an all natural and organic breakfast today, and decided to price out each serving of each ingredient used. The cost of this meal may shock you!!! This morning I decided to make simple blueberry pancakes, toast and juice. The cook and prep time was around 5 minutes!! Ingredients (cost) Log Cabin Natural Pancake mix (.55) Organic Syrup (.97) Organic Blueberries (2.50) Organic Olive Oil (.18) Organic Milk (.45) Cage free brown eggs (.31) Walnut oatmeal bread (1.25) Mega green organic juice (1.03) I used the rations based on suggested servings, and the ingredients needed to make 4 pancakes, 4 pieces of toast, and 2 4oz cups of juice. At a restaurant, for a nonorganic meal like this, even on special, your looking at 7.99 per meal and at a high end place even more. Safe to say, that after tips your looking at around a 20spot just to eat!! My total this morning was $7.24!! Keys to this price break include buying stuff at a larger grocery store (not Walmart!). These stores have certified organic produce, as well as other grocery needs at affordable prices. The price is significantly cheaper then if it was purchased at a co-op or a smaller natural foods store because of the volume that the larger stores can purchase! I enjoyed the pancakes, and enjoyed the fact my wallet didn't suffer as a result!!

So, its been awhile since I have blogged. I've always leaned toward blogging about work, or humor but have decided now that I want to be a little more serious! I would like to share with everyone this very important life change I am making, involving eating organically and naturally, as well as a natural way of life. Ill be sharing ideas, recipes and basically anything I do that involves cheap and affordable ways to live. Ill also be including picking and restoring and reusing items! Hope you will all enjoy!
