A minecraft build I did a while ago, a Lonely House. Based on an illustration by FrancisCo.

This uses some perspective tricks that started to be used more at the time:

Built in an older version, I made use of a glitch with shulker shadows to help darken some areas. In 1.16, when you place shulker boxes and move away, the boxes disappear as they are entities, but the shadows remain. That’s why there are so many pink blocks all over :) I got this idea from a build by Mine674, who made a huge, detailed build with customized shadows all over. You can find it here.

It was pretty fun coloring the clouds and mixing a lot of different blocks to achieve the colors and transitions that match the original image as close as possible.

In the end I was happy with the build as it was my first organic, though some coloring and shaping can definitely be smoother.

If I had to re-do it, I’d also make it more 3D and lean in on using the shadows between the clouds that the sun casts for a better sense of “3D-idness” and a more cartoony, hand drawn look, where the shadows would make for ink or pencil like outlines and accents.

It's with a heavy but hopeful heart that I watch Palestinian families fundraiser on here, slowly accumulating the precious little money to go around that they need to survive. However, not everyone is so lucky. A lot of Palestinians that have not had that kind of luck, that did not get early verification, that did not get massive platforms behind them from large bloggers, have approached me in my inbox, asking me kindly to do what I can for them. It kills me that I have so little to give myself, but I've seen this platform collectively raise enough to change someone's life. I've made a list of Palestinian fundraisers that are extremely low on funds, in the hope that drawing attention to people who have not been lucky at all can help turn that luck around. I know most of us can't possibly give enough to get all of these families safe in one go. But please, reblog this list. Pick one or two fundraisers, give what you can, and then keep track of it. Slowly, collectively, we can make a difference in these people's lives. Do you know anything i can donate to for palestine that's not the gofundmes because the idea of having to choose who needs my money more is just. scary to me they all need it 3: maybe there's a thing that splits/distributes money evenly???? idk but help would be appreciated

Gazafunds actually deals with this anxiety and makes a decision for you if you want. Their home page has a spotlighted fundraiser and the code consider things like how close the gfm is to finishing, when the most recent donation is, etc. So it's randomized to help as many people as possible.

There's also @helpgazachildren which if you donate, you can help multiple people at once since it's a whole mutual aid fund, or at least close to it. Hussam distributes money to people who need it when he's asked.
