SAG not allowing two members to have the same name is honestly so weird to me - just WHY - and I think about it more often than I'd care to admit. It's just strange to me. There are always gonna be more than one Robert Smith in the world, come on, I promise people can differentiate between entirely different actors.

While on the SAG-subject, I've found myself wondering if in-universe Buck, Chim and Eddie are SAG members since they had those lines in the 'Hot Shots' episode and, afaik, you gotta be a SAG member to have lines on camera? (At least in productions that follow SAG rules).

For those wondering why Lou added the Junior to his name when he didn't use it when he was younger - it's very likely he had to add it when he registered with the Screen Actors Guild. His father has the same middle name as he does - Louis Jude Ferrigno - and the SAG doesn't allow two people with the same name to be registered.

Why does the link look like that? IDK it just does. Anyway, I posted my Bucktommy hockey AU!

I've been working on it for some time, and with the hockey world champs starting, it felt like the right time to post!

This one sorta goes around and up and down, but I loved the idea of the boys meeting in Hershey since yes, there is an AHL team there, and there's also the fact that Tommy Kinard has ex-NHL player written all over him and he could easily have been with the Kings! But to make years and career trajectory work, I had to have him out west for a long time, and winning the Cup with the Caps.

I am a (not so-)reformed hockey RPF writer who about 10 yrs ago spent too much time researching trades and game stats for every single fic, so part of this was old hat! But I also quickly realised that I cannot look up travel times and which teams played each other when etc, not for a fic where that is of very little importance. If anything this fic deals with the cynical, dark side of the hockey world so game stats are irrelevant. But I hope hockey fans won't think it's too unrealistic and will get a kick out of easter eggs!

Though there is explicit sex and the fic moves at a tempo even for 36k, the story ended up being more introspective and I guess at times, a bit depressing? IDK. It's not fluffy, it's sort of "life sucks but what can you do?" and then the answer is gay sex.

I was surprised it ended up being as long as it is, when at first I just wanted "ex-NHL player meets firefighter that isn't into sports". But the power of hockey, man! And yes, I have other hockey AU's planned. Not my fault they brought Tommy back, and with him, the inspiration to write for years.

I'll tell you one thing, the camera work in this sure was a choice. I would've liked it, but it stood out so much to all the other still shots. But I guess it added to the tension, all that wobbling and being up close. I bet you that kitchen isn't the easiest to shoot in.

Seeing as it's been "weeks" since Bobby passed, and 8x16 hinted that Buck is very much not coping okay, and there was no hint at all that Buck and Tommy have had any interaction, I have spec for you!

What if Buck has been hitting up Tommy for sex to make him feel anything other than grief, but refusing to talk about anything. Tommy lets it happen because he doesn't know how else to be there for Buck and he really needs to be there for him. He accepts that they have no other contact, and that Buck acts like they're nothing to each other the few times they're around people they know. But he's getting mighty tired of it.

So the next time we see them on screen together, it's Buck rolling out of bed, leaving a topless Tommy behind. He makes it to the door before Tommy says "you're gonna have to talk at some point".

"I know. See you tonight?"

"Okay."

A scene like that would at least tell us they've been in contact and are (shittily) dealing with things and would, to me, make more sense than them having been through that ordeal together and then having had no contact for "weeks". If the next scene we get between them is their first conversation post-lab, I'd find that really off. As much as I want any scene we get, it would be really weird if Tommy saw Buck fall apart at the end of 8x15 and then not reach out for "weeks".

But it's 9-1-1, so we'll get ten seconds of Tommy showing up and Buck offering him crumpets and them giving each other soft flirty looks and hey, presto, back together with all problems solved.

Gerrard in the first line, huh? You gotta hand it to the man, he's had one hell of an arc in the few eps he's been in.

For real, I expected more from this ep tbh. I was ready for the waterworks and then, eh. I hope we get more grief from the others in the following eps (or rather them handling and battling grief). I understand why this one focused on Athena - rightly so! But it feels like even Gerrard had more emotional scenes in this than the crew. Still tho, a good ep!

I do think they laid a pretty good groundwork for Buck pretending he's fine when he's really not, wouldn't be surprised if that got more room in the last eps.

This show is so committed to letting big emotional moments play out off screen. We didn't get to see the firefam supporting each other. We only had a few moments of how deeply effect Chimney is. We barely got to see how effected Buck is at all. We had like two sad Hen moments. We didn't get to see Eddie and Buck reunite at the airport. We didn't get to see Eddie finding out Bobby died!

Don't worry though, we did get half an episode about a mom who lost her baby in a fire and 8 years later thought that he wasn't dead and someone else kidnapped him, only for him to have died in the fire.

Throughout 8x15 I kept thinking playing Moira must've been so much fun, she's basically just along for a crazy ride.
