party chat #56: nanba's transformation

beneath the scaffolding of a construction site, nanba holds a bottle of tea and asks "hey, you think i've changed at all since we met?"

the rest of the party, standing or crouching on the side of the path, turn to look at him.

"hm? have you?" ichiban tilts his head, hand on chin, and lets saeko pick from his chip bag. "i dunno, lemme think..."

adachi leaps to his feet, splashing his can of beer and surprising saeko. "got it!"

adachi snaps his fingers with a triumphant smile. "you changed how you part your hair!"

"huh?" nanba reaches toward the back of his own head. "nope, it's still the same..." adachi sheds a single tear.

hand raised high, saeko announces "right! your prescription changed!" ichiban taps a canned coffee on his palm in an "i get it!" motion. "what, are you trying to be funny now!? and that's wrong, too!" nanba retorts.

"okay!" han looks serious. "you changed the frames on your glasses!"

"you started wearing contacts instead of glasses!" zhao finger-guns with a grin.

"will you quit it with the glasses thing!?" nanba snaps at an unfazed, juicebox-sipping han. "and does it look like i'm wearing contacts!?" he gestures at himself. zhao smugly bites an onigiri, still squatting on the ground.

adachi frowns around a pocky. "huh? then what's changed?"

"never mind... sheesh." nanba turns his back on the group.

a view of the vending machine and soccer field across the way. "i just thought maybe i'd grown a bit cheerier since i met you guys."

"that's all." nanba doesn't see the party staring in shocked silence.

saeko, han, and zhao exchange fond looks.

nanba chugs his tea as ichiban approaches.

ichiban bumps his drink hand against nanba's.

"well, we already knew that, man." ichiban grins so wide his eyes shut.

"yeah, you smile a lot more than you did before, nan-chan." saeko concurs, offering him her chip bag.

nanba looks up, eyes wide. "ichiban... you guys..."

a hand lands on nanba's shoulder.

arm slung over his friend's back, ichiban cheerfully assures "and i noticed that you got some new lenses on your glasses, too." nanba's face falls.

the party loses it. saeko collapses on adachi, both doubled over in laughter, zhao cackles as his glasses fall off, and han clutches his head in despair.

"i didn't change anything about my glasses!" nanba roars. on the ground, a plastic bag of leftover snacks reads "#56 nanba's transformation".

I played like about over an hour of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero (cause ive been enjoying the show so far a lot and wanted to try it out) but so far ive only watched like 30 episodes of DB OG (i just started) so i am just sitting here like

i saw Yamcha and Krillian and i was happy :)

also the Jackie chew costume for roshi is soooo cool i cant wait to keep watching and seeing more characters and soon ill see this roster and be like

Watching Dragon Ball for the first time

Been watching OG Dragon Ball as its a series ive always wanted to watch (as of writing this im on episode 14) just thought id share some stupid pics i saved in my short viewing so far, along with some thoughts.

MHA pisses me off because everything I learn about the characters like Toga and Ochaco and god especially Froppy (I love her so much) are like so god damn cool

I just love the character designs so fucking much, It's so amazing but I know in my heart I wont enjoy the show (as it's so traditional Shonnen but with highschoolers And as a persona fan that scares me) and it makes me so upset because God I want to watch it but itll be ass I know it will.......

And yes before you say it I know I should actually try out the show I really really want to but honestly just retweeting fan art and watching people talk about it and just agreeing like I actually have watched the show is better for me.... The thing I like the most is the character designs so you know what Just kind of being a lurker is fun :3

Started a replay of BDSP and i spent about 4 hours from 1 - 4 am grinding up my Piplup to LV 16 before you get the Pokedex cause i wanted that 1 exclusive Rowan dialogue for my switch album.

You know I've been playing Persona 4 for a couple months (It's my first playthrough) and I'm at the part where you go to Naoto's dungeon

Now I'm going to be honest they have scared me.

Look I'm going to be honest as a trans girl everything I heard about her really does scare me because everything I've seen or heard hasn't been good.

I'm really worried because I'm loving this game in this cast I just really hope they are properly written and I'm so scared to continue especially because the lab is like a you know it's like a lab where they're doing surgery Like come on there's so many allegories that could work!!!!!

Look the only reason I'm posting this is just because I need to know from you other persona pants am I overreacting are they actually well-ridden in terms of being a not trans character with heavy implications of trans stuff or whatever thanks.

(I have played so much persona games I just really hope this doesn't come off as babies first persona romp I'm just really good at not knowing much about a character before I play their debut game)
