Agreed. The plaid and the juxtaposition of big plaid on a gown like this is really interesting and I like it, but the hat is just....too cheesy? Like it looks like a mardi-gras headpiece and makes no sense with the theme. It also just takes away from the dress and feels so forced if that makes sense. But I'm also rather new to this community, so I could be wrong.

The real standout of Alicia's outfit is her absolutely gorgeous New York skyline cape. The beading is gorgeous and I love her hair style. I feel like it hovers in a weird place in regards to theme though? Obviously very appropriate in regards to NYC being a big cultural hub during the Gilded Age, but this is the modern skyline. There's also some critiques that Ralph Lauren copied a similar design by Zang Toi. I see it but it's not the most blatant rip off I've ever seen.

Hot (?) take: I have a love/hate relationship with SJP at the MET Gala. She very clearly does her research and collaborates with her designer. Like just read this article from Vogue. Massive kudos to her for signaling out Elizabeth Hobbs Keckley (Black dressmaker who was Mary Todd Lincoln's official White House dressmaker). But I'm just not that wowed by this? I truly think it's the hat. The image below is of her getting ready and I think it looks so much better than the red carpet look.

Looking through this blog, (Kanaya fused with several other members to form Naomi, so shes not here in the same way), Guys....I dislike all these looks...well not all...but yeah...wow the difference in style is like....so obvious and I just....keep getting blown away.
