I swear being human is a constant mix of battle against Mother Nature and trying to appease her. And there’s no winning.
And yes, this is about me cutting the weeds in my backyard.

I guess it’s better late than never to work on those karma points.

Honestly, you’ve really got to appreciate things after blowing up three cars in two years.

And here I thought Wei Wuxian was painfully oblivious in the novel. The manhua is a whole new level of torture on that front.
I pretty much screamed at the second drunk scene. I mean, how much more would one need to know they’re into the guy and the guy is very into them? Let alone every other time those two are near each other.
Just wow.
I’m going to love reading the confession again. But dang it’s going to hurt getting there.

Lava is definitely both friend and foe.
And Thanatos is hotter than I realized. Wow.

Alright, looking through audible was a mistake. I just found out that the A Charm of Magpies series is on there and I want it so bad. Next to Captive Prince, that is my other very guilty pleasure reads.
(Guess I know what I’m getting next after I finish Captive Prince.)

Do other peoples’ head canons get in the way of their reading sometimes? Because mine damn well do.
I’m still in the middle of this one book about Padawan Obi-Wan and while I’m enjoying it, everytime it mentions relationships and/or Obi-Wan’s commitment to the Jedi, I get a whole ‘wait till you meet your boyfriend in a year’ thought. And then I remember said boyfriend is actually a reworked Granta Omega that I’ve been writing for ten plus years that’s never seen the light of day. And want to slap myself.

Respectfully, I don’t get that feeling at all. Dissatisfaction perhaps but Meatbun never outright says this sucks and you shouldn’t like it. It was hard to write, out of their comfort zone and was built under a lot of strain to them. Plus it had to change quickly from the original outline because of things out of their control. These things can impact a writer and how they view their works, especially emotional and full on physical/mental strain. That would taint anyone’s view of their works regardless of all else. That would certainly make them feel guilty that other people love it when they can’t because of all those factors.
It’s natural to not love the works of one’s hands sometimes. Goodness knows there’s a lot of things I’ve written over the years that I hate now. Yet, randomly I still get notes once in a blue moon from people who love them. And I didn’t have even a fraction of the stress Meatbun did during this.
Yet, Meatbun still found things to really enjoy while writing this. Full on waxing about Murong Lian, who seemingly the author really loved to let loose and see how he rolled. Sometimes what a writer loves in a story isn’t the main characters, heck sometimes it’s not even the story. Sometimes, especially when out of your comfort zone, you tend to love the side ones better.
Honestly, it gives the work a bit more strength, because while this may not be the writer’s love child, they gave life to it regardless of all the pressure and stress it took to bring it into the world for other people to have. To do with and feel about however they will.
In the end, that note really just reminds the reader that the writer is human too, with their own likes and dislikes, and that’s something to relate to. I actually loved the honesty, because it’s nice to realize that a writer I like does feel a lot like how I do at times about my own works. It doesn’t really impact how I feel about Remnants at all, because writers are bias and will judge themselves harder than anyone else on this earth.
I’m sorry it’s impacted your view though.
Don’t let it diminish your love for this awesome series. Because you love it, and that’s what should matter the most to you. If it helps, you are not alone in loving it.
And seriously, the ending is so good. I won’t spoil but gah my heart. It’s honestly one of my favorite endings. Can’t say anything about the extra stuff right now, still working through that.
I haven’t read Yuwu 7 yet but I read the authors note. :/
Here’s the thing, I love this series. I love the characters. As an artist, I understand when your work doesn’t live up to what you wanted it to be. However, Meatbun’s message felt almost insulting to the readers, especially the readers who love the series. It’s okay to feel like something isn’t your best work but that isn’t something that needs to be shared with the fans. Meatbun basically saying Yuwu sucks makes me feel dumb for liking it.
I was so excited to read volume 7 and this has really killed my joy about the whole series.

Okay, how pathetic am I at gaming that I’ve only been to Asphodel twice and no further in 38 attempts?
I am however impressed at myself for blowing three death defiances on one level and managing to get through five more levels on half life to get to Meg. Because I’d rather be killed by her, it seems a little less pitiful.

I’ve read the Captive Prince series twice so far in the last few years. (I know, just twice?) And yet amazingly listening to it on audible makes it a whole new experience again. Weirdly more fun too. (Though Captive Prince is always fun.)
I think I’ll take my time and not blaze through it like I did when I was reading it on my own. Maybe actually savor the text a little. It’s so hard to do that on my own because it’s just so good.

My first thought should not have been tentacle porn when the first paragraph of the new book I’m reading opened with a tentacle monster attacking Obi-Wan. But it was.
I have been in this fandom way too long.

I have literally become a cliche at this point. I was wearing a vampire kitten shirt, drinking a vampire slayer (drink, not a person this time) and had just picked up a vampire romance. And burned like the extremely pale person I am.
Guess what I like to write about the most?

I’m going to admit mdzs is poss a little brain rotty. Because a week ago I was waiting for the bus at like before the sun rose oclock and randomly out of no where there came the sound of flute music around the corner from where I was standing. Mind you, there was only a bunch of medical offices that wouldn’t be open for like two more hours around me and no one on the street. So obviously, my first thought after wtf was that I was about to die, because there had to be some flute wielding necromancer on a roof nearby. That was the only logically answer to creepy flute music coming from nowhere at dead o’clock in the morning.
And no I did not go looking. Hot or not, I didn’t want to meet whoever/whatever that was. Thanks.

Just looking for a fic I read on ao3 like a year ago. I swear it was how a different Wei Wuxian from 16 years ago appeared like 3 years after the Wei Wuxian in canon was resurrected. He then immediately went to Lotus Pier to be with Jiang Cheng. It was a multiple chapter fic. I don’t remember a whole lot else except it was Chengxian and Wangxian, so I wanted to read it again. Thanks for the help!

Question, do I need to read Brzrkr before Book of Elsewhere because I’m struggling to follow along with this story? Maybe it’s just how it’s not written linearly? Or I just might need to get further in? I’m enjoying it though, so far.

So if I had a coin for every time Obi-Wan as a Padawan decides to almost quit the Jedi, I’d have like two and a half coins. Which is weird considering he’s practically the embodiment of literally everything a Jedi is in all the best ways.
What is up with that?

Seriously baffled at how Barnes and Noble calls Dark Heir a new release. Also, it didn’t come out last year in Dec???
And then I realized it was the paperback version. I obviously have not slept enough in the last two days.
